I have used Parent's since 1994 and have nothing but good things to say. Mostly oil changes, but the times work was needed, I was always called with a quote b4 hand. I refer all of my friends etc to them.

I will not bring my vehicle back to this garage. I don't feel that they are looking out for their customers best interests to keep their vehicle's running well. I have had two oil changes performed at Parent's. I asked them to top off the fluids (coolant, oil, windshield wiper, etc) and was told they would have the technician do this. I ran out of w.w fluid a few days later. The 2nd visit I made it a point to tell them this occurred and be certain to have the tech take care of topping off the fluids. There was no visible fluid in the w.w. reservoir. This is such a minor thing; however, it made me question whether they had done anything.

My most recent visit 6/27/10, my coolant light came on and I thought I should have the radiator flushed because the reservoir looked muddy. Rather then having a tech look at it and give me advice as I asked, I was told by the office help that it probably should be flushed. Unrelated to what the car was being serviced for - A day later, my battery light came on and my alternator began acting up. Call me crazy but shouldn't a mechanic be able to tell by the sound of how the motor is running whether it needs additional workI will NOT be back to this shop. I don't trust them. They have done nothing positive to attempt to build this trust.

Ok, i have used parents auto a dozen times. Usually for minor things like oil changes. Last year, my car did not start, so I took it to Parents and they charged me 150 bucks and changed the battery. A week later, the car didn;t start again, and when i called up parents, they said ah the tuning is off. So i took it back there and they charged me 500 dollars to tune the engine. I also got my brake pads and cylinder changed there. This year, when i took my car to a different mechanic with brake problems, they said i needed to change the brake pads again. And two weeks ago, during a regular check up, they said i need to change my battery. Everything that was fixed at parents needs to be fixed up at a different mechanic. I think they are cheats. I will file a BBB complaint against them.

I have been going to Parents for over 30 years. We've had new cars, junkers and everything in between. My experience? They do the work on time, unless they uncover a hidden problem (very rare), they always call you before proceeding, their estimates are accurate and they're totally trustworthy. When we had junkers, they'd often advise us not to bother fixing something, it wasn't worth it. Or they'd suggest a cheaper alternative that was appropriate for a junker. If they say I must fix something, I totally trust them and do it. Their rates are not cheap, probably average from what I have heard from others. But they won't, absolutely won't, cheat you.

My car stopped without warning (timing belt broke). I was told if I got it in the garage ASAP (late one Wednesday afternoon) that it could be looked at immediately. 1 1/2 days after the car was in the garage (excluding a 1 day holiday) I called to inquire about the status of my car. I was told there were four cars ahead of mine (when did they arrive?!). Eventually, I was told by the Service person that the timing belt broke and would cost between 1500 and 2500 dollars, depending upon the damage discovered. I asked three times in order to confirm the upper limit of the price quoted and it was confirmed. I was asked if I gave my permission for the work to begin, which I did, and was told work would be done in approximately three days. One day later the same service person calls to inform me that the price is now 3,700 dollars, despite the fact that we already agreed to a price of no more than 2,500-upon which I premised my acceptance of the work to be done. In our later conversation, the service person did not deny the that he quoted and I accepted that the work was to commence on Saturday but on Monday called it an "estimate." A deal was already struck and I had already rented a car, based upon the work schedule quoted by Parents Auto that I accepted and was to already have begun a full day earlier before the new "quote" was received. In order to resolve this issue I requested on two occasions to speak with the owner who the same service person claims is at the doctor's and has no idea when he will return. The same service person is now flip and evasive about when the owner will return so that the matter can be resolved-now I get the cold shoulder and the choice, "If you want to pick it up, it's here for you to take."I had work done at parents about one month earlier (approximately $1,000) and dealt with the owner whom I found fair, communicative and presumably honest. That is NOT my impression of the staff who is running the shop in the owner's absence. My words of caution are, STAY AWAY! GO ANYWHERE ELSE TO DO BUSINESS WITH HONEST PEOPLE WHO WILL STAND BY THEIR WORD. A contract is enforceable, even if oral. Of course,t eh work would have been done without my signature only with my oral consent but Parents would not have expected me nor would they allow a response when eh bill is due, "Oops, I only have 1/2 the money I owe you in the bank so that's all you're going to get."PARENTS AUTO DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS. IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

They diagnosed something that was probably not broken and I stupidly did not get a second opinion. They also added several items to the work order that were not requested or approved by me or my wife after getting a written list of things

Pros: Quick service

Cons: Deceptive

.

Very reliable. Done right, done honestly and done on time. If the work is not worth doing because of the age or condition of the car, they'll tell you and recommend an alternative.

Parents auto is one of the best tire places I've been to. When I took my car there, they found 3 missing lugnuts! All were replaced, and I got my car back the next day. I've had no problems with my tires since. Their prices were very affordable, almost a steal for the great results I got. I would definitely recommend Parents auto to anyone who needs some tire work done on their car quickly. When I brought my car to them, I was worried that it would be a few days before I got my car back, but they were very swift in fixing and returning it to me. Thanks, you guys are great!

Whenever I need something done on my car that is not covered by warranty, I take it to Parents. My old beaten-up car I also took to Parents. My husband knows how to fix cars, but when he thinks his time is worth more than what hell pay for repairs he takes it to Parents. In our experience, mechanics are always honest, they never tried to upsell anything, and our cars were always ready on time even earlier than quoted. Of course Id like prices to be lower, but if Im not willing to work for free why should someone else. I pay for quality, thats why I go to Parents.

PROS: reliable and honest
CONS:
