I normally do not take the time to post reviews. I just had to let people know about our wonderful experience! AMAZING food, wonderful wait staff! Would HIGHLY recommend. We went there on a Friday night and were blown away by the quality

It's so nice when a restaurant hits on all cylinders like Virgilio's. From the moment we came in the staff was courteous and smiling which tells you a lot about a place.\r
Our server was on her game and did an excellent job of taking care

What a find in the Littleton suburbs. i have been there at least 10 times now. Trust me when I say this is one of the best Pizza/Italian restaurants in all of the Denver area. There are so many things to try but here is my list. The garlic knots (amazing), the ficohi (heaven), spicy mussels (better then bone fish), burrata with prosciutto di parma (wow), the margarita pizza (best pizza I have ever had), the spinach pinwheels (awesome) to name a few dishes. When better then great food is great wine. The wine bar is 1st class, to see a wine system like this in the burbs just does not exist. The wine selection is huge and the prices are even better. Nothing over 12 by the glass and so pour me so Villa Antinori Super Tuscan Tip: get there before six and all bottles are 20% off. The place has a fantastic patio with a huge gas firepit that we have closed down many times with a great bottle of wine, 20% off again after 9pm (yeah). The staff is great and we never have had a bad experience. The owner (born in Italy) has always given us great wine choices so we always ask for him and he is always there to our delight. It does get very busy on the weekends so try a weeknight its much easier to get in.

Pros: the over the top ingredients. The crust. The fresh garlic

Cons: Staff is a bit New Yorkish. Go for the pizza not the service. Vergilio (the owner) is great

Some of the best pie West of the Mississippi -- OK, I may be exaggerating, but Virgillio's did cut it with both this NY/NJ -ite .

What I liked about this joint is that you can 1/2 and 1/2 the pie without problem. I like white, he likes

Service is not very well trained and seemed hurried at times.

The food is on the average side, but WAY over priced.

Might be worth trying again on a slow night, but I am not going to spend that much on a weeknight.

No matter what I have tried at Virgilio's I have never been disappointed. The 20% off bottles of wine during happy hour always allows us to try a new wine. Best of all its not corporate. Keep up the great work Virgilio as we needed this

What a cool small place. Walk in and its smells so good with pizza and garlic in the air. I have to say it may be the best pizza in Colorado. The crust is crispy the sauce is tangy and the cheese was the real deal. The garlic knots where fantastic also.

This used to be such good pizza. Now it?s coasting on old reviews. We used to drive out and pay $$$ for this pie often. The food here has really changed. If you have been eating it all along, you may not have noticed. But, last weekend we felt as if we?d bumped into a friend we hadn?t seen in awhile to find him 60 lbs heavier, unshaven and rude. Twice now, we?ve made the trip out to treat ourselves to what we thought would be another great pie. What a disappointment. The sauce, compared to its former richness, is very thin, watery, and without much in the way of flavor. Servers disengaged? Crust soggy? yuck.
This owner is a piece of work too. Picture ?Italian mobster? type with the language to match. I should have guessed after that BelMar Italian Festival snub. We had signed on to receive emails about events and specials. What we get is this defensive owner constantly rallying support for situations where he feels wronged, or boasting about some ?big? charity contribution, etc? (He even has one gigantic check for what he apparently considers a large sum of money hanging in the dining area! Overcompensating?) Once, when getting an update on the delayed opening of the new Littleton location, he mentioned how unexpectedly pricy the wine bar was getting but that it would be worth it. The latest tacky email was a surveillance video of some dine-&-dashers who skipped out on a $70. tab. The video is peppered with the owner?s crude comments. In the end he tries to pass off the notice as trying to protect the children of this dasher when he is clearly out to catch and humiliate him. All restaurant owners have had to deal with ding-&-dashers at one point or another but honestly, when was the last time you received a video alert about it? He might think about emailing out a coupon or two to his loyal customers instead. And the unpaid bill? $70. + tip. Since when does it cost $84. to treat one adult and two children to pizza?
I for one am tired of emails asking me to write to publications like 5280 and Westward praising Virgilio?s and to support the place by writing good reviews? for what? Not so much as a coupon. I suspect recent good reviews to be contrived by an owner who has taken advantage of his customer base because this pizzeria has lost its ?stuff.?
As far as awards for ?Best Pizza? these publications may want to reconsider allowing this owner to buy his way onto to list if they want to remain credible.

If you are in luck and the kitchen is "on" you are going to enjoy this place.

If not you just entered the "Pizza Notzi" zone. This is when the drive over isn't worth it. I don't want to fight for my food, lol.

I have to laugh at some of these reviews. I have been going to Virgilio's for 5 years now. Bottom line there is nothing better in this town. Yes it gets crazy busy and maybe the service may be off on some days. I have never had a bad meal and the people there are just great. The garlic knots and pizza are the best in this town.

Used to be our favorite pizza place. They had great pizza, salads, and canoli's. Since they opened the Littleton restaurant we have had three pizzas. Two of them have been undercooked, have very little ingredients on the top and the tomato sauce is too "tomato tasting and spicy so that it burns your lips." When we ordered take-out we were told it would be 30-35 minutes. When we arrived at the 30 minute mark it was already sitting on top of the ovens and was only warm at best.
They get one more chance. Does Virgilio actually check on the cook's at this place anymore? The head cook left here and is probably at the Littleton restaurant and the new guys don't know how to duplicate the old quality.

They've got our orders wrong all but one time. They serve us one meal and tell us they forgot about the other one. So we sit and wait while the first meal gets cold.

They gave us the wrong calzone and had the nerve to tell us it wasn't our fault! No kidding! Then they didn't offer to make it up at all and seemed upset that I asked. Then once again, we were served half of our meal and decided to split it so it wouldn't get cold, then had to wait for the right calzone and ate that when it arrived.

The food is inconsistent. We have been served the skinniest calzones undercooked and we've had really good ones.

The service is horrible. The wait staff acts like they are doing you a favor by being there. The cooks are often joking around like idiots.

I'd rather cook at home than pay for what you get at Virgilio's.
-------------
Wow I just read the open letter from Virgilio. What a joke! He accuses the dissatisfied customers of being one person posting over and over. That put me off forever.

Take a look around at some of the posts. They are insulting to the people who have had bad experiences. I think it must be Virgilio attacking the customers. Just more reason not to go back.

I have to admit that although I am 20 years out of college, I still consider myself a pizza-holic. There was a time in which any pizza was as good as the one previously devoured. Virgilio's changed this for me. I actually experienced disappointment the first time I ate somewhere other than Virgilio's! No one compares to Virgilio's according to my palate! Happy eating and garlic breath to you all...

I love this pizza! It is the best NY style pizza in Denver. The joint is quaint but know that if you don't have a party of four you won't be seated at a 4-top. There is attitude just like the city...eat and get out! It's fine with me don't much care to linger, you can feel the owner's eyes burning in the back of your head if you stay too long. Definetly invest in one of their connoli's it's fresh and delicious.

There are some real demanding people. this place gets busy on the weekends so deal with it. People ate lined up because they love Virgilio's. The quality is second to none. There pie is the closest to the real deal that u will find anywhere in Denver. Also try the pinwheels, knots and burrata.

Absolutely the best NY Pizza in Denver!!!

Just down the block from BelMar, in the same strip mall as King Stooper, is a tiny corner pizza joint with some of the best pie West of the Mississippi -- OK, I may be exaggerating, but Virgillio's did cut it with both this NY/NJ -ite .

What I liked about this joint is that you can 1/2 and 1/2 the pie without problem. I like white, he likes red sauce, We asked for the following pie:
1. Crispy Thin Crust
2. 1/2 Quatro Formagi ( 4 cheese), basil and garlic, no red sauce.
3. 1/2 Dean Martin, red sauce, real bacon, basil and garlic.

The pizza was fantastic. The servers where awesome and this place just has a great feel about it. We also had the Burrata a creamy goodness of mozzarella and cream OMG amazing stuff. Don?t forget to add a plate of prosciutto for $4.00. Nice wine list also.

I ordered online from this business 2 wks ago. The online order said it would be ready in 30 minutes. 50 minutes later we received our order. I asked about the garlic cheese bread we had ordered. They told me that order was not received. They offered to let me wait for another 10 minutes. It was by far one of the worst pizza's I had ever had. It was so greasy that you had to take paper towels to sop the grease up. I was so embarrassed. I thought I would try something new for my brother who was visiting. It was $23 wasted.

I read about Virgilio's in the Denver post. This little place is busy to be prepared to wait at Dinner. I don't know where to begin. The garlic knots and spinach pinwheels amazing. The owner came and told us about a special on the prisoner wine for $40 what a deal I paid $45 at the liquor store. The pizza was fantastic, crispy crust, tangy pizza sauce and the best cheese since leaving NJ. Our server Krista was outstanding. 10 stars for the food and service. BRAVO!!

My fiance and I ate at Virgilio's last night. We have been there a handful of times in the past year, because it was close to where we lived. Last night, the customer service was the worst I ever had at any restaurant. We walked in the door and it was busy. However, there were 2 empty tables. One table could fit 4 people, and one was slightly bigger. We were the only people waiting to be seated - NO ONE WAS BEHIND US. We were told that we couldn't sit at either of the tables and would have to sit at the bar or wait for a table for 2 to open up. We chose the bar. The waitress moved the owner's laptop from the seat that she wanted me to sit it... even though there were other seats at the bar. So, I sat in the seat she told me to sit in, and realized that I was directly next to the cash register. I couldn't even move my arm without bumping into her when she was at the register. And what was worse is that the orders that the cooks were handing her over the counter had to be delivered to her right over my shoulder. I felt like I was in the way, and was very uncomfortable. Then, the owner came over and saw how she moved his laptop, and started yelling at her. She was on one side of me, and the owner was next to my fiance. So they were arguing over us. I felt totally stressed out. Then, our food arrived. Almost $26 for 2 chicken parm sandwiches, and they barely had any chicken in them. The chicken was very thinly sliced. It felt like I basically ate a bun that was loaded with sauce. As I ate, I watched a party of 3 sit at one of the tables we wanted. They only ordered a pizza. I'm sure our bill was a lot more, yet we weren't even given a table. From the moment we walked in, I felt like they were so busy that having us even walk in was an annoyance to them. I'll never go back. I have never felt like this in a restaurant before -- like I was an inconvenience to them when I was giving them my business.

First of all Virgilio's is small so, like the previous review don't complain if u don't get your pick of seats. I love the back corner booth and the bathrooms are around the corner? whatever Virgilio has added Burrata to the menu. OMG!!! This
stuff amazing. Homemade mozzarella stuffed with more mozzarella and heavy cream. I must say one of the best foods in my life. I read that Virgilios is opening a huge location at c470 and Kipling. I can't wait since I drive from Highlands Ranch.

I was reminded of Virgilio's by a recent article in the Denver Post. It brought back bad memories of our last visit. We were regular customers. We used to drive from NW Denver just to eat there. My husband and I wanted to take his cousin there. We arrived around 3:00 p.m. there were only two occupied tables. The waitstaff directed us to the back table by the bathroom. I asked to be seated at another table and was told that that table was for 4 people. Huh? There were 3 of us. Then, the owner came over and explained that the table was for 4 people and there would be families coming that would need the table. It was 3:00 p.m. no customers waiting. To this day, I regret that we did not just walk out. If it had just been the two of us we would have. Instead we sat by the bathroom door and later vowed never to return and whenever someone asks us if we have been there we tell them about our nonsensical experience.

Pros: Great Pizza

Cons: Rudeness

I don't know where to start about this little neighborhood restaurant. First the staff and Virgilio are awesome period. You need to go in on a Friday night and sit at the bar and watch this kitchen go at it. Everyone performs like rock stars. The pizza is by far the best in this state if not the west coast. The crust, cheese and sauce will bring back childhood memories of your favorite pizza. It's not just pizza!!! Must try, Verde Salad, homemade hot mozzarella, spinach pinwheels, garlic knots, baked ziti, homemade lasagna and the clam pizza. I love the feel and warmth of Virgilio's. Virgilio is always there and is a great hard working person. I support the independent over a chain any day. Just a note this is NY Style Pizza, not flat bread or gourmet cracker pizza. Old School NY PIZZA with huge slices dripping with oil from the best cheese down your arm.

Virgilio makes the best pizza in town, hands down. You can try to exclude him from the Italian festival, but the truth will always get out. The money he raised for Children's Hospital was a truly classy move. No one can touch Virgilio's.

You and your staff's hard work made it happen! The fundraiser event benefitting The Children's Hospital was a huge success. I personally want to take the time and say "thank you" for all the time and effort you and your staff have given to make the event successful. I'm sure The Children's Hospital is going to appreciate the generous donation you, your staff and customers worked so hard to generate. It takes a great person to make something like that happen. You should be proud for spearheading such a wonderful event for such a great cause! Again, congratulations on your accomplishment on raising $12,004

I live in Westminster, so I had never been to Virgilio's until yesterday. I found out about the italian festival on kidspages when we were looking for something fun to do on Saturday. We decided to go an check it out, and it was a wonderful experience! I couldn't believe how much food they were giving away, all to benefit the Childrens Hospital. Virgilio is truly a wonderful person to give away so much food and not reap any financial benefit from it. He wanted to help all of the many kids in need at the children's hospital and I hope he succeeded! The pizza was so yummy! The crust was perfect, everything a pizza crust should be...crispy, chewy and flavorful! I hope that everyone there gave a generous amount of money for the food they received. I appreciate all of the other companies that gave food away as well to benefit the Children's Hospital. This is only one obvious reason why Virgilio's is so successful! I have a 13 month old nephew that was born with a whole in his heart. He is having open heart surgery this coming Tuesday in Florida where he lives. I know how important Children's Hospital is for many kids! Thanks again! We will definitely be back to enjoy more of your delicious pizza and garlic knots!

I am the owner of Virgilio's Pizzeria and yes my name is Virgilio. This message is addressed to the individual (s) who has written 20 different reviews under different aliases in the past few months.

You should be ashamed of yourself. This pathetic attempt to try to slander me personally,my hard working staff, or my fabulously cheesy pizza is as see-through as your sub-standard pepperoni!

I know it hurts to see me in the paper and magazines over and over and over, basking in the gloriousness of my marinara, but that is what hard work and great quality produces!

If you think writing reviews that say such ridiculous falsehoods such as "don't believe the hype", "greasy", "expensive", "bad service" will hurt my business you are out of luck!

Business is better than ever as you already know, with lines out the door daily. May I suggest that you spend time at your restaurant, not mine, trying to make a better product, instead of writing bogus reviews, maybe we would see you in the paper winning my awards, I'm just sayin..........

Pros: Great hard working staff

Cons: Small and can get busy.

An OK pizza, but definitely not as great as the reviews here would have you believe. Rude, unfriendly staff. As a previous reviewer mentioned, this place is notoriously rumored for having employees show up on the web and write reviews praising themselves. There are much better pizza joints to be had in Denver.
