Best local doughnut shop in Washington. Always fresh tasting. I wish I could still find their donuts in my local Starbucks though!

Best place ever if you're hankerin' for a doughnut (and who isn't?). They seem to have one of every possible variety and the staff is friendly and professional.

Pros: Greasy goodness

We had done some research before vacationing in Seattle and knew this was one place we could not miss. Our hotel was in the Queen Anne area, so we went to the new location. THE APPLE FRITTER IS HABIT INDUCING. We are now unable to get an apple fritter from anywhere else. It is that good. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. There are also pockets of delicious fresh diced apples throughout. I can only dream that one will be opened in Minneapolis. Not to discount the other donuts, all are fabulous. We pretty much made ourselves sick (fritter, chocolate covered peanut, glazed old fashion, plain old fashion), but we couldn't resist. The four donuts and coffee was about $10. Highly recommended.

We are becoming FAMOUS for using TOPPOT DOUGHNUTS as our THANK YOU / HOSTESS / CHEER YOU UP gift.... You want to see your gal pal light up?? Forget the flowers or candle..... Bring her a box of feather boa, chocolate cruller, maple bar, pink sprinkle, plain old fashioned and an apple fritter. Too bad we will never know if we are loved for ourselves or our ubiquitous box of TOPPOT..... who cares??

I am one of the biggest donut enthusiasts around. I limit myself, however, because I could easily blimp out indulging on the things. So when it's time to treat myself to a donut, it HAS to be a Top ___(this did say the full name of the store, but CitySearch apparently won't let you use the second word of this company in your reviews. lol). I don't have an official Top ___ store in my neighborhood, so I always get my fix at Starbucks. And while some might say $1.50 is a bit high for a donut, I would beg to differ. Yes, that might be high for a Krispy Kreme or a Safeway donut. But not for one of these pieces of perfection. I don't know what Top ___ is doing, but they have truly mastered the art of donut making. I used to get everything from a maple bar to a Boston Creme. But since I tried Top Pots, I've become a purist. I now go for the old fashioned glazed. Wonderfully crunchy on the outside, and richly wonderful on the inside. Did I mention I like these donuts? It's no wonder they are popping up in Starbucks all over the country now. I see big things for the future of this local company. Go Top ___, go!

A great neighborhood place to hang out and people watch. I don't know what they did but the cake doughnuts are a lot less greasy than they were a couple months ago. The glazed old fashioned is my favorite.

Pros: outside seating, friendly service, great coffee too

I really like the selection and flavor of the donuts, although friends of mine comment that they are somewhat greesy. The espresso is tasty and reasonably priced. The main allure of this place is it's ambiance. It looks straight out of the 1950s or early 1960s, like a place beetniks probably frequented. Come early on the weekends because there will likely be a long line. It's a more unique experience than Starbucks and a great addition to the neighborhood. Top Pot is also in Pioneer Square under the name Zeitgeist.

In a category dominated by appeals to Americana and the allure of a staple comfort food in this great land, Top Pot delivers something more: atmosphere.
Somewhere along the line, it made sense for a coffee shop to appeal to the quasi-European habit of actually doing more at an eatery than just buying, eating and moving on. The art of lingering, whether with a book in hand or while holding hands, while taking in tasty calorific donuts hits a high water mark here.
I can't wait until they open downtown...

The Top Pot is a great neighborhood destination, but I think it gets a little too much hype, probably from people who want an alternative from the corporate Krispy Kreme. I must say that it's a wonderful place to hang out, have some coffee and a donut, especially if you live in the neighborhood. The donuts are special. Their specialties are the crullers and other cake-style donuts. They pull a good espresso drink, and the ambience is pretty damn great. Seating is limited though. They also have outdoor seating, which rules. That all said, I have to admit that, like Krispy Kreme, the TP donuts are still just donuts. The difference between KK and TP is a matter of taste and what you want to do. Nothing beats a KK raised/glazed straight out of the oven, nor does nothing beat a warm.

Definitely the best donuts in Seattle, and you don't need to schleep out to Issaquah and wait in line with 100 other Seattllites that decide to bring donuts to work that day!

All I have to say is try one - usually a line out the door on Sunday mornings. While the donuts are stellar, you can't beat the atmosphere.

Top Pot cake donuts taste pretty good and are delightful to look at. Their sprinkles are the best - the big chunky ones with square cut edges, not bitty broken bits. And, they're served in a pleasant setting.
But, they are greasy. It varies. Sometimes the grease pools out and sometimes it just makes a tasty crust on the outside of the donut.
Unfortunately, the raised donuts are inedible and a knock-off to boot. Where else have you seen filled powdered big ones? Look around.

I used to be a donut snob...I guess I still am. I thought the first time I had one of Krispy Kreme's I'd died and gone to heaven; then I had the finest donuts in my life!
I'm on a strict no fat diet (cholesterol, you know) but I can totally 'relapse' when I get around 'Top Pot', it's like they're calling me from far away! Plus, if you've ever laid eyes on the owner...I have one word for him: 'Woof'! Seriously, fine people, fine donuts!

It's my neighborhood cafe, so I'm biased. But, I can't think of another cafe of the same size in this city with a look and feel that's comparable. And the donuts!! Have a cruller and you'll silently thank me and the owners.

Top Pot serves up a darned decent donut, certainly much better than the Krispy Krap that everyone is completely obsessed with, but these are not the best donuts ever. The cruellers taste exactly like the cake donuts, the server didn't understand my spouse's request for old-fashioned donuts even though they were listed the menu, and the raised donuts are too plain. Sorry, but you can do better . . . well, maybe not in this city . . .

After reading the fabulous reviews about Top Pot, I decided to try it and although the donut case is inviting and pleasing to the eye, I found the donuts way too greasy. I expected the crullers to be light and custard-like, but was disappointed that they were heavy and cakey, like an old-fashioned. I so wanted to enjoy the fare at Top Pot, but I still have to rate Krispy Kremes as #1.

Top Pot is tucked away off Broadway, but it didn't take long for locals to discover it and become regulars. It's a sunny space with tables both inside and outside. It can get a little tricky to find a seat on weekend mornings, but the donuts are so good I'll eat 'em standing if I have to. The baristas are friendly and it has the welcoming feel of a layed back neighborhood hangout.
