I heard their Vodka drinks were expensive but hefty so I dropped in on a random Monday. The front room is all it's been said to be. Very much like an old diner. The drinks are insane though! $20 for a specialty drink, but it was worth it..

I came here the night of my birthday, well the night before my birthday, because my birthday was on a Sunday and who wants to go out on a Sunday night and fear being hungover on a Monday? Anywhoo, I came here October 2nd, don't know why

Saw Lisa Zane who appears there on Monday nights.
Awesome crowd!
Lisa Zane the singer I saw, transforms the room with her passion and tales of love and loss . I was reminded of all those gorgeous full throated ladies of torch from all over the world. But then! I found out most of the music was written and composed by her. The evening was completely unrefined, in its utter refinement;.Sometimes Raucous, sometimes emotional, she's got a wicked wit, which is rare for a beauitiful woman,. I dug it.Ps: The place is awesome too. Like an old Russian pub. Low lights , mirrors brick walls. And gorgeous people everywhere.

This was a great place to relax and the drinks. The only down turn is that the drinks are on the expensive side

UGH! I wish I had read the other reviews here before going to this hole. An otherwise divey bar with DOORMAN ATTITUDE FROM HELL. The sooner this kind of b.s. goes out of business the better. Yes they have a great vodka list but trust me, just going to Trader Joe's and buying a bottle of the cheap stuff to drink in the alley would be more pleasant than this. Come meet me at Bar Lubitsch, I'll be inside while the doorman keeps you waiting for over an hour..... just because. Guys, if I find out you like this place, there's no way I'd date ya. Drink up!

Cute scene and bar. They have great drinks and what's even better is they serve Absinthe. Not a lot of bars do that!

I utilized the valet at Bar Lubitsch on Wednesday December 17. Outside of the valet taking 10 minutes to get my car, I had no problems with the service until the next morning. I keep bottled water in my car, and I had a brand new bottle in my cup holder. On my way to the gym early the next morning, I realized that not only had the valet DRANK my water? he left the empty bottle in the cup holder. I was completely grossed out, and felt a little violated. I mean if someone is brazen enough to do that, what else are they doing in your car? Perish the thought?.

I just came back from there in a very nice mood! So, I had to write a review, because I found this place due to the previous reviews. A very nice, neat, clean, place, a beautiful crowd, mid 20s to mid 30s. No harassing guys. The drinks are normal prices from $8-12, the service; very nice and the music; very funky, 80s, old school, and 70s. I recommend to go there for fun times. The door-guys pretty cool and awesome! no attitude and no fits! I loved there, I'd definitely go there. It's a West LA hot spot! Cheers. :D

I've been to this bar a few times now... and I am ADDICTED! I will surely be making Lubitsch ("The Bitsch") my new regular spot, as I keep having the best nights ever there! Where do I begin....?

First of all, the Doormen at Lubitsch are the COOLEST I have ever met! They are super duper friendly and helpful...EVEN when there's a CRAZY line outside on the weekends. They fill up really quick on Friday and Saturday...so you HAVE TO get there before 11 if you don't want to wait. Otherwise... BE NICE, have a little patience... and they always help you out! (Getting to know them a little also helps... I heart "The One They Call Stone" who has dreads, and Brian the cute guy with shaggy hair! ;), or...TIP THEM...this is LA people...Greasing the wheels always works!)

Once your in.... the DECOR ROCKS! Awesome old Russian look and feel... The specialty drinks are ALL out of this world... I have dreams about the Cucumber Gimblet! SO YUMMY! The Bartenders are all super sweet... they make STIFF drinks...have GREAT recommendations too! They've got like hundreds of kinds of Vodka..!

It's like a super chill lounge/bar in the front room....and a dance party in the back room. What more can you ask for...? The guy's there are not your typical LA grease bags.... most of them are local, and pretty chill. As a girl, you can wear pretty much anything and not feel out of place. Like I said...this is now my new Go-To Bar. I love it!

See you at 'The Bitsch,'

I've been to this bar man times and never been treated so badly.
I've gone for my birthday (2 years ago) and had a blast. I went one time after that and the music was too loud and I just left angry. Then this summer/fall we started hitting it up again lots after drinking at our favorite martini bar Lola's just down the street on fairfax. I had many a good time at bar Lubitsch...and then last saturday happened. My friend had a birthday dinner at Lola's and 8 of the guests decided to go to Lubitsch while me and a friend finished our drink and would meet them in 30 minutes. We get there probably about 10:30 and their is a short line outside - because our friend did not reserve a guest list in there we waited on the line outside. We looked fine - dressed up - there were maybe two or three groups in front of us - and the bouncer told us it was filled to capacity and he would try to get us in soon. Well first one group of his "friends" came to say hello and he let them in. Fine whatever....but this consistently happened - they would assure us they were filled to capacity and then they would let 5 more of his "friends" in. I understand the group he let in cause they paid him - I even understand a group or two of his friends - but when it gets to be upwards of 50 or more and he says that it is filled to capacity it is absurd. ABSURD. Finally 45 minutes later my friends came out and said it wasn't worth us being outside and them in. 10 of us drinking inside would have been a lot of gross on the bar - 10 happy people? no? so we took our business back to Lola's. When I spoke my mind to the bouncer dude in his stupid pansy a** corduroy jacket he said he was doing his best to let us in as they were filled to capacity bull....and I said you kept letting people you knew in - he gave some lame a** excuse...whatever bar lubitsch - you lost confidence in one ...don't know if I will be able to come back....as long as that pansy a** is still working there.

Gilded in our weekend best, my friends and I stopped by the well-respected Bar Lubitsch--something tells me it doesn't take its name from the tasteful, thoughtful films of Ernst Lubitsch, whose criticisms of Nationalist Socialist Germany (the n-word is prohibited) the bouncers could certainly learn from--to meet some more friends who got there before 10. We arrived around 10:30, and paramount to our quest was for with one member of our party to meet up with a potential female mate within the steely confines of the bar. Weeks of careful Facebook messaging had led to this moment.

There were 6 people in front of us in line at 10:30, and though I was wearing a collared shirt from my summer job four years ago and my friend a sparkling pair of Asics, it seemed that, given the time and space within the bar, we would be in there opening tabs and spending dozens of dollars on drinks that I'm certain were overpriced.

Sadly, I was never able to actually patronize Bar Lubitsch besides being an unattractive billboard for them. 12:15 rolled around--1 hour and 45 minutes we stood in line--and we were next, being lied to repeatedly by the bouncer that we would be in shortly. If not blinded by foolish Eros, we would have left an hour earlier and left to drink elsewhere, but no matter. We questioned why groups of guys--often without girls, and often with mohawks--were let into the bar willy-nilly. One member of our party peaced out after three douchenozzles with matching sweaters tied 'round their necks like Nantucket nancies were showed the way in--sans females!--while we steamed uselessly.

It's not that we're pathetic people--I know and accept that it takes a certain kind of loser to wait in line for over 90 minutes on a Friday for a bar that, by all accounts, looks prime to disappoint. Despite my own shortcomings, I know that I am not a trio of fuckbuckets with sweaters tied round my neck. A truly abominable treatment of people looking to have fun on a Friday.

Before last night, I went to the bar on a Friday with 2 of my female friends and we got in, no problem, no wait. However, last night (Saturday), I went with a group of 15 for my friend's birthday. We waited in line for 45 min-1 hr! It was ridiculous because the bouncers continuously let in smaller groups for no wait at all. You're probably thinking: groups of females, and you're right, but they were nothin' special!

The bouncers finally let the bday girl in with 1 friend, while the rest of us stood angrily outside, until they eventually let us in in groups of 5. In summary, I was not impressed by the outdoors staff.

Everytime I go to this place, I have fun. There's great music, and it's always just the right amount of crowded. You can dance in the back or stay in the front for a loungey-type atmosphere. The drinks are on the expensive side, but it is Hollywood, and they do pour them strong. And if you like vodka, this place has a ridiculous amount of them to choose from. Check it out!

Went to a birthday party here awhile ago. Had a great time. The music was good and so were the drinks. I sort of agree with that last review...drinks are pricey, not a fan of that but I'm well paid so I don't mind too much...and yes, the drawing room has cheap drinks and cheap women...prolly the easiest place in l.a. for a one night stand...

I went to Lubitsch on a Friday night at 10:30 and had no problems with the line. I did, however, get the third degree for my Drivers License even though it was legitmate. Once inside, the opening room was full of casual not so great looking people. Going through a dark, red, corridor you end up at the backroom, where there are a few people dancing to some interesting spins (not the "latest" hits you would find at a supper lounge). If you're looking for the atmospher of a lounge, this isn't the place. This is a causual and lax environment. The worst part is the line at the bars. It took me and my girlfriends about 10 minutes to finally get our drinks. Price for a vodka soda was around $11

Being a European in LA is a strange experience when it comes to nightlife. The ID obsession is funny at first, and then it becomes annoying, as it did at this bar, when the doorman decided that my driving license was insufficient and asked me if I had my passport with me. Now, is it just me, or does anyone else think that bringing my most important document to a bar, where I could potentially loose my purse after a wild night on the tiles is a really stupid idea?! Or maybe they are taking the Russian theme so seriously that you need a visa to get in? Eventually he did let me in, grudgingly. The decor is great, although Russia is not the first place that sprang to mind - it felt more French in the front room. I had a couple of vodka cocktails, as befits the place, but I have to agree with the nice man at the bar that they use some poor quality vodka - it was vile.
Our group ventured into the back room, which had a great atmosphere going, and was just the right side of full, especially for a Wednesday night. We had a lot a fun dancing, which was down to the fact that we had a great group of friends, and not down to the music, which was really poor. Not only was the choice of music odd (Madonna Like a Virgin being a prime example) but the CD kept on skipping. There was a DJ there, but in all honesty, the taxi driver home had a better selection and mixed it better.
So in a nutshell, fun can be had if you are in good company, even at this place, which is okay, but not worth any hype.

This place rocks. No nonsense at the door. Plus three different vibes to choose from. Ultra chill outside patio vibe, classic bar vibe inside, and dance club vibe in the back. The sound system in the back is banging. Sounds like they put sub woofers in the booths. Two bars make getting a drink a quick process, plus the $exy bartenders are actually in a good mood. Imagine that!!! I loved this place and I can't wait to go back.

I can't say enough great things about Bar Lubitsch. This place has now become one of my favorite bars in LA. I recently had my birthday party there and the staff was so accommodating and gracious to all of my friends. The bar itself has some beautiful people and stiff drinks, but it definitely lacks the Hollywood pretension. Also - dancing in the back room rocks. I highly recommend it!

If you like dancing to ecclectic DJ mixes, a lively ambience, or molotov cocktails, then Bar Lubitsch is definitely for you. While this place is always packed, it almost doesn't matter because it has so many other pros--good vodka drinks, an awesome dj, and a lively dance floor. Definitely good for a girls night out.

Fun lively atmosphere with attractive staff serving lots of vodka drinks and everthing else. I have been 3 times now, twice during the week and once on a friday. After 10 this place gets very busy and crowded. Back room has large bar and DJ. Good for private parties. Front bar is cozy and well designed. At entrance there is a large smoking patio with lots of tables and chairs as well as waitresses taking drink orders. Only drawback for singles -- esp men -- is that there are too many men. 3 or 4 to one on all nights.
bring a date.

Staff friendly, prices mid range. A nice place to have an early drink with friends, unless you crave the later scene.

I love Bar Lubitsch and it has become my new go to bar. I think the door policy has finally become a little more relaxed, but I still recommend coming early on the weekends. The specialty drinks are amazing. Definitely try the Ninotchka and any of their flavored vodkas. The bar offers a little something for everyone, from the open air patio in the front to the dance floor in the back. it appears to be a good spot for birthday parties as there is always at least one going on every time I am there. The staff are super friendly and the waitresses in the back do a great job of delivering drinks despite the throngs of crazy dancing people. All in all, you can't go wrong with a night at Lubitsch.

Ok, so I've only been here once - for a friends Birthday, but I loved it here. The bouncer had a little attitude but was cool overall and let us in right away. The bartenders and staff hooked it up with drinks, everyone was really down to earth and just there having a good time while they worked. The atmosphere is energized & there were a lot of hot chicks too. I will definately be going back.

Cons: vallet is the easiest parking on busy nights / can cost some pennies

I had my birthday party here and felt like a regular immediately from my first visit. The two managers who I met separately were gracious, accomodating, professional and had no ego. They did everything to make sure that my guests were happy and having fun. The staff was great and the drinks are wonderful. I recommend it!!

Pros: Great drinks, comfy booths, separate rooms w/ separate atmospheres

The signature drinks are just ok... they're pretty pricey... and the bouncer is the biggest joke (I can't write the word I'd prefer). We went with a rather large group last Saturday night and ended up leaving early. One of our girlfriends came alone and waited for 45 minutes while the bouncer let in about 40 people ahead of her. When we asked the bouncer why he merely said "It's out of my control... I don't make the decisions..." when he's the only one out there. He let in groups of guys before he would even let her in. He only finally did so when we started telling everyone around us what was going on & told him our group of 20 was going to leave (which we did). The dark atmosphere is normally nice, but this was almost pitch black. The crowd is cheesy... Just don't even bother wasting your time.

I'm so happy to have such an excellent new bar in my neighborhood. Bar Lubitsch is gorgeous inside and out with lovely, helpful barstaff. The signature cocktails are really fun and unique. Went early (around 9) on a Saturday and there were just enough people inside and out. Everyone made sure that my date and I were having a good time--from the attentive bartenders, to the bouncer, to the manager making sure that the patio was toasty on a cool WeHo night. The crowd was hip, but not unfriendly. Nice balanced night.

Pros: Cozy scene, attractive and helpful barstaff

Cons: smallish, not a lot of seating

If the two lines out front weren't a tip off, then the low rent Liza Minelli drag queen leaving in a huff should have been. Hey, this is LA and waiting in line for a club on Friday night should be second nature to most of us. But the door men made it a point to tell everyone (repeatedly) that they were having capacity issues. However, when we finally got inside after about 30 minutes, the place was half empty. Not only was the anticipation of getting inside a let down, but there was a whole lot of ugly up in that place (even without the drag queen). But hey, have enough vodka and you don't care what the crowd looks like! Dasvidanya!

Some friends and I went to a nearby bar that boasted a good mix of people but could not get in due to a private party. The doorman directed us to this place and we had SOO much fun! :) LOVE the good mix of music they play in the back room. Not pretentious but still a well dressed crowd. Hetro and non-hetro and good times for all!

Stopped by the re-opening of Bar Lubitsch last night, and had a great time. This place is small, but somehow it has it all: there's a smoking area out front where you can drink, a great bar area with booths, a back room with another bar, more seating, and a small dance floor. Vibe is great, staff was friendly and professional, The music was fun and eclectic (and not too loud) in the front room, and the DJ had it louder and more grooving in the back room. It wasen't really crowded (first night and I don't think many people new it had re-opened) but by 12:30 when we left, there were more people coming in and a few people on the dancefloor. I think there are subwoofers in the back booths, because the bass was pumping...but somehow not too loud. Jered, the manager, was great....and Bryan at the back bar recommended a great vodka I've never even seen/heard of before. The have a list of vodkas....who knew there were so many!? The waitress wear these little red dresses (imagine Barbarella in Moscow circa 1935), and all the staff are looking good. It's the closest you can come to Bar Marmont back in the day...and that's a really good thing All in all, a fantastic night at a great new place. I would go now....before you can't get in!

Pros: 2 rooms with different music & vibes, great staff, solid drinks, it's all good!

Cons: It's gonna be hard to get in once the word is out!
