Borders goes out of it's way to have it all for their customers. They offer coffee, tea and snacks to customers who want to spend the afternoon engaged in finding books in their numerous bargain bins or in their rows and rows of stacks. They have a lovely and safe feeling children's area. And the music section is actually quite large. With it's setting, it's located inside an indoor cafe area with over 30 different food types, you can't go wrong with this one.

The Borders bookstore in Emeryville is a single level bookstore and they carry the things most Borders do. The space seems to be shaped like a giant inverted "L" and coupled with all the books shelves and racks make for some pretty cozy nooks to read a book in. There's also a cafe area, but that always seems to get pretty crowded with more people browsing books and doing work on laptops.

PROS: you get what you expect
CONS: can get a little crowded

This is a nice store located in the Emeryville Public Market. Check the clearance table for discounted books and sit with a newspaper or magazine in their cafe.

The employees are very friendly and helpful but might be hard to track down at times they get lost in this large store.

The music area has listening posts where you can listen the preselected CD's.
