I was looking for a grooming shop for my two dogs. I researched, including city search. I read the reports and wondered if this would be right for my pets. i decided to go to Sparky's with my pet and look to see what kind of place this is. I've had bad experiences with grooming shops. The employees there treated me and my pets with such kindness, I asked them did they have time to cut their hair. the girl there said it's close to closing, but we'll be glad to help you. I was very surprised by this. I asked if I could stay and watch, and she said, yes. I was very happy at the quality of care that my pets received at Sparky's, and think that everyone really should take their perts to Sparky's

I took my old dog to Sparky's and talked to the girl there. He was matted because he's too old to stand very long. My dog was groomed and taken very good care of. I don't know what that lady was talking agout, but they take very good care of my pets. My dog and my cat. I recommend anyone who want's their pets groomed with care and kindness, take them to Sparky's on Wilshire.

DO NOT take your dog to these people. I have never seen such rude, snotty employees at any business. Our dog had been with us while attending a horse show and had, of course, as dogs do, gotten dirty and matted. Because of that and because we are conscientious pet owners we brought him in to have him bathed (even though we were visiting friends in Beverly Hills and not actually home yet). The employees were so snotty and actually REFUSED to give him a bath because ""it would take ALL of them ALL day to do it"". WOW, they must be terribly unqualified groomers if they are that incompetent. And as far as how they treated us.....can I remind you Little Missy, (before you get so uppity again)..... you wash dog butts for a living! Your Momma must be terribly proud of raising such a rude child with such a sterling career. If you are the owner of this business you had better have a conversation with your employees about customer service...don't judge a book by it's cover!

I took him in for a shave, and he came back with a large patch of bright red skin in his armpit (like 3 inches) that is still healing 3 weeks later. It didn't seem to hurt or to have broken the skin, but he licks it constantly so it is bothering him. He's normally extremely docile, and even though I'm sure he was upset during the shaving they really should know how to deal with that. that's why I brought him there -- I could have carved him up myself1

I took my dog in and when I picked him up I was told that everything was fine and he was perfectly calm. I know that is not true, because like several other dogs, he does not like the face cutting that much. I take him to the office and he is acting strange, not like himself. A day and a half later after being completely under my supervision and care I am running my hands through his head and feel something. I separate his hair and find a slice across his head. It was drying up, scabby but still you could tell a few days old at best. I called the salon and they told me that he had cuts on his ears and they apologized for not informing me. He has no cuts on his ears or anywhere else for that matter. They then tell me, if we cut him we would have seen the bleeding. My thoughts exactly, if he would have cut himself or suffered an injury I would have seen the bleeding since I was with him for those 48 hours plus. This is what happened. They cut his head on top with the scissors and/or clippers when my dog moved his head. They then stopped the bleeding, applied some basic first aid, washed him, dried him up and brushed his hair back so it would be hard to see the fresh wound since his hair is very thick and curly. I gave him a bath and dried his hair and it was easy to cover up. They disgust me. They lied point blank because they were terrified of getting sued and of people finding out . So know this, if you take your dog here, this can happen. The time and care I have spent caring for my dog to heal his wound and the scar he will have let alone what he must have went through makes me want to give them a haircut! How can someone screw up like this and then cover it up. This location should be avoided at all costs! Please do not have your dog go through what my dog has gone through. They have done this before in the past I have found out through talking to people. They even said to me after telling me lies that things happen. Terrific. For every great experience you hear there is this you don't hear about and you should know. Slicing a dogs head open is not acceptable. Let alone the other little cuts on his body. They also cut the skin on his privates, bastards! I should go over and give them a haircut but I'm past those days. Just be aware!

I have a wonderful Ragdoll Persian who is in absolute love with Sparkys?. Oliver not only loves the staff on Wilshire but refuses to go to anyone else for his grooming needs. He loves the deep cleansing bath and doesn?t mind being blown dry because he enjoys the combing it comes with so he considers it to be his bonus. \r\nThe staff have been so professional I am often jealous of the care my Oliver gets and for a reasonable price, which is almost unheard of in the Los Angeles area. \r\nEach staff member has made it a point to make a relationship with Oliver so there isn?t a time where he is unfamiliar with anyone on staff, even with other animals he isn?t the slightest bit uncomfortable if anything he is loving towards other pets in the salon at the same time he is. \r\nThe last time I dropped off Oliver for his grooming appointment, I had plenty of time to do my other errands without having to worry once about how he was doing. I got the phone call that he was ready, I went to the salon and there Oliver was on the desk stretched out and asleep at the register. Now granted Oliver weighs 16 lbs so he took up most of the desk. It gave me great comfort to know that he was so comfortable not only with the staff but also being around other animals including dogs of many breeds. \r\nI can not give enough compliments to Sparkys? and the staff, to find a business which gives quality service and to truly care for my baby as much as I do and on top of that not charge me an arm and leg shows exactly why they are able to open other branches around the city. \r\n

Pros: Easy to get an appointment, Exceptional service, drop off area infront of store, toys and clothing for pets, CLEAN and I mean eat off the floor Clean

Cons: Parking can be a small pain, but there is a resturant on next block for parking for short period of time

I took my baby teacup maltese there many times, my first time they gave her the best hair cut. Ever since then, I feel that the groomer has changed or something, because they never listen to what I told them to do. Each time, i told them that I don't like to tie the bow on her head, please cut it off, but not even once they listened. One time, My husband picked my dog up, realize my poor puppy has a hug cut, you can tell it just happened because it's all red, and still bleeding. They told me husband that it was there before. I could swear to my life, she didn't have any cuts before I drop her off. The fact they lie about it, not admitting it, I would never go back there. Also, why would you make an appointment when we have to leave our dog there for more than 4 hours. I hate that place...

Cons: everything, so fake, lies, abusive

We have been taking our dog to Sparky's (West LA) for about two years now and have only had positive experiences. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They finish the grooming in a timely manner and always finish close to their estimated time. My dog gets so nervous going to any groomers but the staff treat her in a kind manner and they are gentle with her. We highly recommend Sparky's in West LA.

Okay, I love Sparky's because out of everywhere they do the best job. I have a little (20lbs) yorkie (yes, he's supposed to be a yorkie, papers say so - but yes he's HUGE.) \r\n\r\nMy dog loves Sparky's, my dog loves everyone though. My dog hates cages, and will scream like you're pulling his little nails out one by one if you put him in cage - works out okay, because I know he'll be in and out really quick. They don't even try to cage him, he's extra happy if you'll just let him be a shadow - they get this. \r\n\r\nI've had some great experiances, and some not so great - once they just gave him a bath, I can give my dog a bath on my own - he was there for a cut...woman ""forgot"" to write that down...that was a bummer. BUT they fixed it quickly. \r\n\r\nThey're also really good about letting you know if they find any ""bumps"" etc..that's nice, makes you realize that they actually take their time. I like that. \r\n\r\nOverall - he comes out smelling good, he's happy looking with a cute bandana and they're really good about the fact that he has sensitive skin. The people are really sweet too.. I recommend. :-)\r\n\r\n

Pros: Happy dog, happy owner, great cut, great shampoos, easy to get appt. VERY CLEAN.

Cons: None really, you pay for what you get.

The people are so cool. I really love taking my dog here. Even though it's a little pricey for a bath and cut, I think it's worth it. They always do a good job and the people seem to care for him. He's always ready within 2 hours and they're flexible with appointments. There's also a lady that comes in to clean teeth once a month. I would recommend this place.

I have been a client of Sparky's for the past two years. I have a nine year-old cocker spaniel who is, putting in bluntly, a bit of a pain in the butt. He is cage shy, temperamental and can be snappy. The folks at Sparky's have been nothing but patient and kind with my neurotic, but loveable little guy. He always comes home looking like he could win the Westminster Dog Show, and when I take him for a walk, I always get compliments on how beautiful he looks (he looks like a stuffed animal when he comes home). I have to give a special shout out to Diane, who has been his special friend. Although everyone at Sparky's is really wonderful, she has really been especially wonderful with my dog. Thanks to everyone for a great job!

I took my cat Lucky to Sparky's and it was a wonderful experience. My cat usually is very nervous and likes staying home. He was nervous when we arrived and immediatly Luis took him out of his kennel and played with him and he just loved him. I picked him up and he smelled and looked wonderful. Thank you Sparky's for making it possible to get my cat groomed! We can't wait to come again.

Wow! When they mean they are a different breed of groomer it's more than just a slogan. These guys treated me and my dogs like royalty as soon as we stepped in the store. They went over all the grooming details with me prior to anything being done, got ""aquanted"" with the dogs and played with them a little before taking them in. My beagle and my jr terrier were delighted to see me when I picked them up and they looked their very best! Thank you Sparky's! Can't wait for our next trip there!

I read the reviews closely when I got home, most are planted because it's the only review, and most are done on the same day( with different user names) and some a repeated. It's looks strange.\r\nI took my dog there because of all the great reviews, and now I regret it! They did such a bad job. My dog was for about 6 hours. They said they'd call when ready, but I never got a call, because my dog was still in the was still not ready after 4 hours. I am so upset. The hair cut is all lope sided as well. Not going back.

My dogs have been to Sparky's on many occasions, much to my satisfaction, and the newest location is no exception!!! The latest and greatest Sparky's is AWESOME...the very reliable and comfortable experience I've come to expect for both my dogs, Jiggy - a lab/shepherd mix, and Mozart - a lhaso/shitzu mix. Pat and his groomers treat our dogs with love and kindness and Jiggy and Mozart LOVE 'EM! We've never been to a groomer where our dogs were actually relaxed or where they didn't get anxious and stressed out TIL NOW! Their haircuts always look great and they come home smelling and feeling SUPER CLEAN! Try Sparky's and you will NOT regret it!

I have a maltese and she was mishandled there. She is small and old, and deaf partially( which came be good for grooming) and cataracts, so you have to be careful when handling her. SHe gets nervous because she can't see. When I picked up my dog she was not ready, cut way to short for winter and shaking! ! ! Usually your dogs are happy to see you after being groomed. I have been there a handful of times and she is never ready on time and she was always shaking. She was never like that with our other groomer. t's always about 6 hours she's there. Get a clue, if your dog is in for a groomer more then 6 hours....obviously they need to hire more groomers. They may be good most of the time, but for my baby most of the time is not good enough. She was the casuality that day and very traumatized. I have not been there since. I did make a complaint, but nothing was done, no one called.

I had taken my 14 lb dog in a few times, no incident. The gentleman(Bill) who has greeted us before is no longer there I was told. Bill would take his time, settle Jack, welcome us back, & take notes as to what needed to be done. This particular morning a groomer/new manager Diane approached me. She had another dog under her arm, came to scoop up my dog. My dog, jack was shaking and so was the other. She took no notes(w/c she admits too), and was not personable, but this is Sparky's what could go wrong. I told her specifically to SHAVE him because he was so MATTED & it would hurt if brushed. I told her about his skin condition & to be careful around the eye. To my horror, 4 hours later when I came to get my dog he was just finished being brushed! My dog looked in pain & the groomer who brushed him said he was never told that Jack was to be shaved. He seemed frustrated as I. He spent 4 hours brushing my poor dog. Jack spent over 5 hours there today. His face is all loped sided. I have him schedule to see his vet because he is in so much pain. I called Pat(owner)he said sorry about the ""miscommunication"". I spoke to him extensively @ the matter. He did not resolve anything for me. Website stated that they walk the dogs if stay is longer then 4 hours. My dog never got walked according to the groomer who brushed him. As a business owner myself, I make sure my customers are happy & can trust me. In a service business such a Sparky's,communication is key, & they lacked so much of it today. I suggested he implement a procedure. If there was a protocol, the ""manager'"" did not follow . If a business is so blind as to put someone like Diane in authority & responsbilty, how can you trust them. Obviously, service is not a big deal to them now. I will not be the first customer they lose, but then again Pat did not seem too concerned as business is good there, and I am just one person.

I went to Sparky's because of the great reviews that I read here on City Search and I was not dissapointed. Sparky's staff did a great job handling my dog Gypsy. Other groomers had told me that Gypsy was very hard to groom and that is why the haircuts never turned out like I had wanted. Sparky's made Gypsy look exactly how I wanted her and they said that she actually behaved very well for them. I will be going back to Sparky's and I will be telling my friends about their great service. Thanks Sparky's

I took my wheaton terrier to Sparky's and they did a wonderful job. The staff is really nice and listened to my special requests on how I like her haircut, she has never gotten so many compliments! The prices are competitive to other groomers in the area.

Oslo is our 2 year old golden retriever. He is usually very nervous to go to the groomer but when we got to Sparky's he was just having fun. They were so patient with him and he never looked so shiny and good. We totally recommend Sparky's, thank you for your wonderful work!

I have been to many different groomers with my very nervous Terrier mix named Bubbles. Every time I would pick Bubbles up after his groom he would be shaking with fear and he seemed mad at me for bringing him to the groomers. When I brought Bubbles to Sparky's he seemed to relax right away as he was introduced to the Sparky's staff. They did a superb job on his new haircut and when I picked him up after only being at Sparkys for less than 3 hours he did not seem mad at me for the first time after a groom. Thank you Sparky's for making Bubbles look so handsome and for making both of us so happy! Sparky's is the BEST!!
