Popovers Ala Mode and Tea-delicious! Yes, it's a tourist trap, but only if you decide you need an entire meal at Jordan Pond House. Be SURE SURE SURE that you make a reservation first and get there earlier than your set time. It gets packed and if you don't have a reservation, you will find your self with at least an hour of waiting time during tourist season. While my friend and I waited, we walked along the lake and the field. Wild blueberries grow in the field outside of the house. It's a very pleasant experience.

The home of Maine blueberry jam and steaming popovers. Our waiter was from Ukraine and he pronounced them "poopovers," which added to our enjoyment. No trip to Acadia is complete without a trip to Jordan Pond.
5I was pleasantly surprised at the interesting and delicious treats that were served at this restaurant. Located in Arcadia National Park ,it was great to be able to have a good meal without having to leave the park .
5We stopped for lunch at Jordan Pond House while visiting Acadia National Park in Maine. The food was delicious - great pop-overs with ice cream! A very beautiful setting to enjoy a relaxing lunch!
5After a day of hiking or biking in Acadia National Park nothing is better than a trip to the Jordan Pond House for tea. Our favorite is to get a table on the lawn ( because our dog is allowed there with us) and enjoy the view of Jordan Pond. We recommend tea and popovers. The popovers are served piping hot from the oven with butter and strawberry jam. It is never disappointing.
Make sure you make reservations though because it is a very popular thing.

No trip to Acadia National Park is complete without a stop at the Jordan Pond House. Sitting our on their lush rolling lawn overlooking the pond, while enjoying tea and pop overs, is what makes a very special summer day. I f you are not a fan of tea, their lemonade is the best! Their wait staff is from all over the world and all courteous, polite, and friendly. We highly recommend a stop here!

We have been going to Jordan Pond House for 23 years. It is in Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. The popovers are to die for and the scenery cannot be beat. There is a lake and mountains that you look at as you eat giant popovers with strawberry jam and butter. The Lobster stew is so good as to be sinful. There are whole claws in the stew along with a lot of other lobster meat, definitely not just a bite of lobster with a lot of cream. They know how to do a good stew. It is a tradition to go there at least once a summer to get this delicacy. Anyone visiting the park should give it a try.

Our weekend in Bar Harbor unfortunately included one of the few rainy Saturdays in September, which was of course the day we spent driving through Acadia National Park. Despite the weather the drive was totally enjoyable. Jordan's was like an oasis on a soggy day. They are known for their Lobster Stew and popovers and did not disappoint. The Lobster Stew is not like a New England Chowder in that it is not heavy with cream, it is more of what you might call milky which I preferred. My husband is allergic to lobster so he ordered the soup of the day with the popovers and that too was excellent -- a chicken and sausage soup. I would definitely recommend Jordan's and hope to return there myself. Despite the overcast weather we still did have a view, albeit gloomy, but I am sure on a clearer day it is spectacular.

Pros: wonderful food, pleasant surroundings
Cons: a little bit pricey
