No, I'm not talking about the classic Marx Brother's film. I'm talking about the hottest nightspot in Midtown, or Atlanta, just period.

Many of us native Atlantan's have seen the party club scene change over the years, from the Limelight of the '80's, to Peter Gatien's first club, at this 1150 Peachtree location. And of course, in later years, Club 1150. History abounds in Midtown, in the rear of the Histerical, I mean Historical, Women's Club. What was once an elaborate 1920's, theater, now stands Opera, in all it's glory. The domed 20ft.celing, the private opera boxes, the detailed ornamentation, to the super hot sounds, from some of the best DJ's in the country. Classic, but very modern in it's current glory, it's def the place to be.

Atlanta's diversity abounds at Opera. Nearby hotel guest's from the Four Season's, Palomar, andt he new Lowe's, just walk a block away, into Atlanta's most sophisticated club. Masterful Farhang Milani, keeps the club goers in the know, about all the special events, ongoing everynight. Dress to impress.

Pros: Historic Midtown Location, Beautiful People

Cons: Parking Is A Challenge

Visually the most impressive club in the city. Can't wait to see what 2007 brings with the remodel.

My husband and I attended a charity function at Eleven 50 a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere was great but we found the staff to be rude and pretentious. Not interested in returning.

I have heard many stories about the doormen, and in defense, half of that stuff is either because the club is already too crowded or..they just want to make money on the side, that aside 1150 is still a good club, a great sound system, quality bartenders, and its about the only place you can go to if you want to hear some big name djs. Since the crescent room became sutra, theres no other clubs really bring djs on a regular basis.

but because of that, the crowd can vary a lot, depending on the Dj, for instance a big trance Dj compared to a big House dj, they draw different crowds, still 50% or more of the crowd will be your usual midtown out goers.

You may have a good time or a bad time, ive had both, but some of my best nights out have been there, as well as my worst. The outside pool area is nice in the summer and spring, and the art gallery is nice to lounge in, when its open.

Overall, a real quality club

Pros: great sound system, many popular djs, variety of music

Cons: expensive entrance fee, music and crowd depends on DJ

The doormen are RUDE! They pump up the ticket price with time.
You give them $20 cash in hand, and you can skip the line... but you still need to buy your ticket. If you have ALREADY bought it, you STILL need to pay 20$ to avoid waiting AT LEAST 1 hour to enter... finding all types of fake excuses. Inside atmosphere is nice ... but is it worth to enter at 1am when the club closes at 2:30, and you've been waiting in line since 11:30pm ?

If you're looking for some of the best rated DJ's in the world, you'll find them on Saturday nights. I've been going there for years. Cover on Friday's always stays the same. Cover on Saturday's is based on what DJ is there. Every Saturday there is a different crowd, mainly based on the dance act. (Which is one thing I love best about it, I never know what to expect) The crowd is always friendly, and everyone is there to have a good time.

The sound is great, when you're on the dance floor you can definitely feel the music. If you want to take a break you can go outside to their newly renovated Outdoor Garden.

Also, traffic and parking are a lot better now that Vision is closed.

This place is always filled with the bridge and tunnel crowd. I applaud their attempt to dress well, but Kenneth Cole Reaction was never cool.

My friends who like house music say that the music is always good, so I can't judge on that aspect.

I give Eleven50 a chance every couple of months or so since it's been in Atlanta for some time. Every time I go, I'm always disappointed.

Let me take that back....that hot dog stand outside of the club is awesome. Overpriced but when I've paid $8.00 for a vodka tonic that comes in a shot glass, I'm not so price sensitive.

Famous phrases from Animal House come true when communicating into the vacuous faces of the doormen or management who are really boys and girls just trying to be hip and pretty. As a trance enthusiast I cringe each time I hear of a new marquis DJ will be in town because there are better venues with better staff - The Mark, for instance.

Last night took the cake though. Having read an AccessAtlanta ad carrying a $10 before 11pm discount for that night, I was denied it when I arrived at 10:50pm. The hostess could care less about what I had to say. Then, the club made the growing crowd wait an hour in the rain for a private function to finish inside. The list goes on, but this club does not know about competence nor professionalism. All it knows is projecting attitude and trying to be something it's not.

I have been going to Opera since it opened as eleven50 back in 1999. The club was recently renovated in 2007 to bring eleven50 back to its origins as a 1920 Opera theatre. 22 VIP Opera boxes were added to the second level as well as a 3rd level VIP bar with private bathrooms. The lighting and sound systems were enhanced and the dance floor was enlarged signficantly. The club's main room plays mainstream hip hop and mash-up mixes. There are two additional party areas. The outside "Cabana" area has private cabanas, fountains, and miami style house music under the stars and tall buildings of midtown. During the spring, summer, and fall this makes for a great way to start your night prior to going into the main dance room, or to just spend the evening outside. A newly renovated back room has been significantly enlarged for private parties and DJ events with an amazing sound and light system. No other club in Atlanta can match the decadence and party that Opera has to offer. I have been to many of the major clubs throughout the US in places such as NYC, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angelese, Las Vegas, and others and Opera stands out as one of my favorite places. The venue is great for large groups whether you want to spend the night as a VIP or in the main party areas. Many VIPs have frequented the club include many professional athletes to music celebrities. The club also brings in some of the world's best DJs on weeknights such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk and others. This is the place to spend your weekends in Atlanta! A night not to be missed...

The club is decorated gorgeously. A good time, good music. Expensive drinks but hey, its Atlanta. Always packed on thurs, fri, sat. Easy to get a taxi upon leaving

I love this place. While it is a bit on the expensive side, there's space to suit any mood: the relaxed art gallery and patio or the high-energy scene of the dance floor. The staff is polite and quick, and the atmosphere alone is worth going for.

First i need to personally insult those 2 girls in black on 8.8.03. Pick your spot to dance and stay. It's not your stage at the stripjoint. And spandex is a privlage not a right,so please don't bendover again. Black wasnt that slimming on you. 1150 isn't a danceclub it's a prance club. Floor is too small. Drinks & cover expensive. Men said lewd things to me when my date was gone. Floozies trolled the patio for free drinks from stupid men. where do selfrespecting intelligent people go to dance ? Not 1150! This is why I quit going to buckhead. Please pick another"Best club" next year.

Expensive, watered down drinks. The bar staff was nice, but the door guys and inside security were kind of rude. The dj's they advertised as being the best in Atlanta were definately not. What little of a crowd they had there seemed as bored as I was. Not recommended. At least I was close to other clubs so I didn't have to park

There are not many good dancers here. The chicks here aren't very hot either. But it probably depends on the day. I went here three times. First time it was boring. They played crappy music and the people there were so fake.

I went the second time to give it another chance, it was amazing. They had awesome dancers, hot chicks, great music, and great ppl with cool personalities. I couldnt' believe it was the same club I went to last time.

So I went the third time and it sucked again. I'm thinking the second Time I went was a fluke.

Apparently some people havent had good experiences here, but I've never been and not had a great time. Resident DJ Brandon Sutton is always great and the dancing is serious. As with many places, its who you go with that defines what kind of time you have. Plenty of places to get romantic and lounge...I like the gallery scene

Although I'm not the biggest fan of techno/house music, this place was a good time. Looks like it was an old theater converted into a night club, which i think it is. There's a balcony area overlooking the dance floor and main stage, as well as a second glass-enclosed balcony overlooking the first balcony! The dance floor was packed and the crowd was cool. For those who are a little more bold you may want to jump onto the stage and shake your thang up there. Also, not too strict on the dress code but still a classy joint. There was also a huge screen on the stage with trippy images being projected onto it while the dj spinned the tunes. I met some cool people and stayed til until the wee hours of the morning, a great time!

If you want to get ripped off and treated rudely come here. Was charged $35 to hear Oakenfold play for a little over an hour. Was hurried out the door by staff at 1:30 a.m. when they were closing. There are much better, hipper places to spend your money in Atlanta. I hope this shady establishment goes out of business.

went there for Oakenfold, and it sums up my experience with Atlanta clubs -- $35 cover, he didn't go on until 12:30, and played 7 songs. This, on a Monday night. NYC and DC shows were the complete opposite. Save your cash and go to a lounge or buy CD's instead. The silver lining is the bar staff...

I have been coming to eleven50 for some time and made the mistake of recently trying a new club in downtown Atlanta, thinking that perhaps it could compare.

I just moved to Atlanta from NYC and have to say I was impressed with this club. While it is different from clubs you see in NYC, it reminded me more of a South Beach club. I love the outdoor part with the pool which you don't have in NY. The dance floor was a bit small. I liked the mix of people although I could have done without the a bridal party there. Seeing people walk around in puffy pink bridesmaid dresses just killed the "exclusive" atmosphere.

Eleven50 is simply a great club. After living out west for the last 3 years I have seen some pretty good club scenes in LA, Las Vegas, San Diego and the Phoenix area. This club ranks up there as one of the best ones I have ever had the opportunity to take in for a night. The music was great, the sound system was very solid, and the crowd had a good mix of the beautiful people and typical clubbers. Most importantly, I felt the bartenders were friendly and poured good drinks... I didn't feel like I was inconveniencing them to spend my money,as you can often feel in many clubs and bars in Atlanta. I went there to have a good time and the staff was there to ensure I did...

Sorry, this place is not worth it. It's trying (rather poorly) to imitate the South Beach scene but it has a loooooong way to go.

The drinks are overpriced, watered down. and the bartenders have way too much attitude. The food was less than pleasing too. The "VIP Room" was about as lame as everything else. The place looked so "used" that we didn't want to sit down - heaven knows what had gone on on those sofas.

If the music was decent and the crowd was more interesting, then maybe I'd overlook the rest of the problems but for now, all I can say is hype, hype, hype.

Cons: lame, skanky VIP room, overpriced drinks

.

I have to say this is the all around best club in the city. The owners have taken a great space and made several experiences possible within the same building. A great patio with a live dj, a gallery with different types of art and a laid back lounge area, a VIP bar in a balcony that actually feels like a VIP area(so long roped-off excuses for VIP), and a great main area for dancing. i have heard some people saying it has lost its edge but this seems to be mainly from the #uckhead crowd.

You'll always have a great time at eleven50. It's by far the best club in Georgia. Where else will you find a great atmosphere, superior service, and big name DJs? It does get crowded, so if you prefer a quiet place with only a few people stay away.

Pros: Great DJs, Good service, Large space

Cons: Crowded, Buckheadites invading

This renovated theatrespace is one of the best clubs in Atlanta. Part LA, part NYC, with a good dose of ATL: this place is ecclectic and alive.

Great marketing and promotion, along with AWESOME guest DJs and acts (Chemical Brothers, everything but the girl, Prince, BT, etc) make this THE PLACE to go when you don't have other plans.

But the "VIP" area upstairs is a joke. You can buy your way in - and if you do, you'll undoubtably be disappointed . . I think they have a space somewhere else for the REAL VIPs.

The balcony overlooks the dancefloor and the stage often has live entertainment (go-go boys, girls, & drag queens) or a HUGE screen drops down to show cool effects.

When there is no big name headlining though, the cover is a bit pricey.

Cons: bitchy chick patrons, high cover

This is the type fo place I've been looking for in Atlanta. After visiting Europe, and especially Ibiza, I have earned more ciscerning tastes when it comes to night-spots deserving of cover charges. I paid $15 last time I went and felt like I found a bargain. The service was good and the drinks started at $3 for a domestic bottle and neither compared to the poor service and outragious prices found in bars around the Highlands and Buckhead (which never have worthwhile entertainment). This is definitely one of the best places in Atlanta.

Cons: cover charge, expensive parking

I have seen Crystal Method, BT and Prince perform here. I get their weekly email to let me know who will be there each week! It is crowded but if you like the music it is the only place to go.

I love this place! I can't get enough of the sleek and smooth surroundings, drinks, and people. I get treated with dignity and respect everytime I walk through that door, and everytime I leave I know I will return. Although many come for the world renown djs, I come for the quality of the atmosphere and people. This is the classiest place in Atlanta, and possibly one of the classiest in the country. If I had one complaint, it would only be that the ventilation system is just not kicked up high enough for the amount of smoke that permeates in the room. I guess going out to Acqua (a bit of genius itself) would solve part of that problem, but sometimes, you just want to be inside!

I have been to clubs all over Europe and the US. Having just moved to Atlanta from Spain, I am in search of the best Atlanta has to offer. Last night I went to see BT at eleven 50 and was very impressed with the atmosphere and music, but the crowd reminded me of a bad teen movie. Kids in athletic shoes, visors, and leopard skin shirts. If eleven 50 wants to be Atlanta's best club, which I think it can, it needs to be a little more exclusive. The quality of the club is always reflected in the clientel and last night eleven 50 was hurting.

I love 1150. I'm originally from NYC and this is one of the only clubs in Atl that makes me feel like I'm right back at home. The crowd is an interesting mix of trendy and just good old fashioned club kids. A lot of people complained about this but I think that's just the whole Buckhead vs. Midtown hang up. The DJ was great and I danced til my feet hurt so bad my friends had to carry me home. The cover was $20, but I didn't mind. I had a great time for my money.

I've been to 1150 a number of times and paid anywhere from $5-20 to get in, but never noticed any difference in what I got once inside. People who suffer from See-and-be-Seen syndrome like it here, and they are fun to watch. Nice big dance floor, unique decor, and great patio, but overall I give it overpriced and overrated. If the wait is longer than 10 min.s or the cover is over $10, I go somewhere else.

This club is filled with eye candy, from the decor to the dancers to the people at the club themselves. Come dressed to impress and have a good time. While the doorman can be too full of themselves, once you get inside, service at the bar is great.

This club hosts the city's more interesting events and attracts impressive DJ entertainment. This means that the cover is sometimes increased to $20, which catches some people off guard. Think of eleven50 as a venue as much as a club, pay attention to the schedule, and you won't be disappointed.

Eleven50 is one of the few clubs in Atlanta to consistently bring national and world-class DJs. The space is beautiful and there's plenty of places to escape from the crowd (gallery, patio). You do have to put up with some people who don't come to hear the music, but it's a small price to pay.

Trendy place. Old theater style interior. Multiple levels, VIP second level. Good sound system. Cover cost varies, often negotiable. Drinks are reasonably priced, but on the high end. No tap water, but only bottle. Reputation has it
