Visited here for the first time in early July 2010 and had a very nice visit.

Senior Management came out to meet me and help me with my needs. I had a delicious lunch of grilled tilapia (my favorite fish) and other side dishes as well.

I could not believe how many of the residents came over during my visit to introduce themselves and to give their endorsement of the community.

The exterior is nice but the interior really impressed me. I found out that the interior was completely done over earlier this year. They are really promoting the feel of family and I got it!

This was a very pleasant experience.

The Atrium is definitely an organization in transition. Most of management was replaced in early 2009, the new management has focused on cost-cutting. This has resulted in a large number of residents moving out.

Food service is also in transition, a popular chef and kitchen manager left unexpectedly and on short notice this year, and residents subsisted on a diet of hotdogs and baked beans and cold sandwiches for several weeks. The replacement chef did not last a month. A second chef/kitchen manager was brought in and residents are happy once again (well....as happy as assisted living folks get).

The maintenance staff is the best in the business, they'll go out of their way to make sure that residents get what they need...they'll even do things not in their job description like set up Christmas trees in resident apartments.

The resident mix at the Atrium is interesting: about 2/3 are true Southern belles (think: Driving Miss Daisy) and the remainder skews Northeastern US.

Prices were raised in June. Naturally, nobody's happy about that.

Once the dust settles on this reorganization, I believe that this establishment will rate four stars.

Pros: Responsive, excellent maintenance

Cons: high turnover, especially in food service

It is obvious that jrs5545 is an embittered person and is totally unaware that the Management Team of the Atrium at Georgetown Sq. has a high regard for the safety and wellbeing of the residents. The kitchen was never closed; the dining room was closed because of an a Noro Virius outbreak which was caused from individuals from the outside, including relatives, coming into the community which were carrying the virus. The necessary protocol was put in place to prevent wide spread of the virus. The efforts by the Management were applauded by the corporate office in taking the necessary precautions to prevent further outbreaks. All questions were properly answered by concerned relatives by phone or in person.

Within 8 months the amount of residents around 188 went down to 165 and only a few of them passed away. Most of the residents children took them out of that facility and put them in a better run complex. Even though there were complaints regarding how bad the kitchen was, the management team didnot pay any attention. About 68 residents got deadly sick and the Department of Health was called and the kitchen was closed down for 2-3 weeks. When any of the residents children called to find out what was going on, or if they had a concern, they got hung up on by the mangement team. I am sure the owners and investors must be pulling their hair out as residents keep leaving.
