My experience was ghastly. This year I decided to purchase some quality furniture so I started my search. One Sunday after church I ended up going to Compass Furniture. It was a store that I had never been to before but I went in anyway. This was my first mistake. On March 23, 2014, a sales consultant Sheena C. asked if she could assist me. We walked around looking at various styles of furniture. Then I decided on the sectional that is double reclining power, etc. This was after the sales lady said it had a two year warranty which was incorrect information. On the day of the delivery, two guys brought two motorized sections of the sofa. One of the guys were supposed to be setting it up, and he said look it is broken on the other side. I am not a furniture inspector, and I did not expect to be taken advantage of by furniture delivery guys. It did happen though. Then they switched it out with the other sofa that did look strange to me but I was excited to have my furniture delivered. The treading on the sofa that was newest was long, and the threading on the other sofa had already been cut. There was an old tag on it but it appeared to look acceptable. They said they did not have my reclining chair even though it had been in Compass's warehouse until the 18th of April. Fast forward, I sat on the sofa to recline and use the heat sensor on the motorized sofa set and it did not work. Mr. Johnny their technician came out to check it. He was nice and he said it is heating and I said shouldn't it get hotter than that. He even said it was hot before it was turned on. It never occurred to me to just get them to take it back. That was strange that he said it was hot when it was not on and he is the technician. It is now on and off getting hot with that particular side. Then my chair came and it was damaged. I called customer service and they changed it with one that was in the warehouse the next day. That was strange to me also. I left to go on vacation for a couple of weeks and came back to finally enjoy my new sofa. I noticed that it was awkward like the guy (with long hair, maybe dread locks) said that day it was delivered. I was not paying full attention to him so only he knew what he was talking about. He appeared to be speaking to someone at customer service. I know that my motorized sofa part and chair went to someone else's home. It took a while to figure out but it all makes since and that is why my chair did not come the day of my original delivery date. That same seat seemed to be sounding rough when using the massage mechanism but I am trying to enjoy my purchase even though these things are going on. Then I am sitting watching television one evening and I hear a crunching sound when I reclined the chair. I was thinking what was that but continued to watch the movie. The next morning I saw the spring poking out. I went to Compass at this point and asked for Mr. Billy the supervisor to tell him of my concerns, and he said I don't want you to come here and waste your time, after being rude and having an attitude, so here is my email address. Compassfurniture@yahoo.com is the email address. He said to email the pictures of the furniture and if there is something wrong we will take care of it. I emailed three times and no response from him or the company. I had a spring poking out of this furniture and that is why I wanted a supervisor but he Mr. Billy lied and said that customer service did not want to deal with me. That is not true at all. He does not care about customers especially when he has your money already. If you would like to give your money away, go to Lou Rippner's Compass Furniture, 5025 Bloomfield Street, Jefferson, Louisiana. This store is ran by a dishonest supervisor, at least one dishonest female sales consultant, and on one set of dishonest delivery drivers. There are no warranties on the furniture at this store. This has taught me a valuable lesson people are very dishonest when they work on commission, and don't have very many customers in their show room looking to buy.

It blows my mind how much a business can fall in two years. My wife and I bought our first furniture together from the Elmwood from a wonderful saleswoman who helped us get an entertainment center. Delivery was prompt and trouble free.

...fast forward two years...

We ordered a dining table, chairs, two couches, and bookshelves due to our prior experience and desire to support a more local business. Our sales lady, again, was good. We set up delivery with Compass to coincide with our move to Metairie and were given about a week window, which was fine. We do not expect a busy furniture company to make a specific time/date obligations. Note that we bought this furniture about two months before we even moved in to give them time to move things into the warehouse. We did find out our first option for the dining table was no longer in production. Thankfully, we had a close second.

Fast forward to two days before the move. I called Compass and after some serious maneuvering and accusation of needing to call earlier found out that they did NOT have the couches or dining table. We then found out the second dining table we ordered was unavailable and had to switch to a lesser cost option. Compass made no attempt to adjust our bill, though. I guess the difference was their "service tip." We had to crunch the numbers ourselves to get the bill corrected. I inquired to delivery and was promised that they would arrive within two weeks.

Fast forward another week, with the in laws arriving in few days to help unpack. I called to check on our furniture, was again given the run around, forcing me to go into the store and raise hell with the manager who seemed more interested in conversation with his sales associate than a customer. After multiple calls and inquiries into their (I kid you not) accordion folder and DOS-based filing system, they told me to expect the couches and dining table that week.

The couches and bookshelf were delivered the next day, mysteriously appearing after I threatened to cancel the order and go to Ashley, two hours later than what the manager promised was the LATEST delivery (5 PM). We still had no dining table, though it was promised within the week.

Still no dining table. I returned to Compass with my wife with rather negative fanfare, and a spectacular eye roll from their manager. He half offered to show us what they had on the floor while he, again, sat and schmoozed with the sales people, ignoring his customers. We saw nothing, and having enough of their pitiful customer service, asked for our money back. He shrugged and gave us a "whatever."

Fast forward several months. We ended up purchasing a dining table hassle free from Ashley that arrived early. Compass continued to frustrate us, having made an accounting error with what we owed them and a third party loan company. Again, we were forced to do their math for them and solve the issue on our own.

Compass' furniture store always appeared empty of shoppers and we can plainly see why. I have never in my life dealt with more poor customer service and uncaring management. I feel terrible for the delivery guys who did do their job well and efficiently and the sales people who actually tried to help. Their efforts are regularly undermined by a terrible, untrained, and incompetent accounting team and a manager who has absolutely no business doing the job he currently has. I don't know who bought this company, or who is running it, but changes need to be made if they have any hope to remain in business.

My husband and are in the process of redecorating our home Uptown. The service, knowledge, and selection of furniture was great and even better they waived the delivery fee for my last purchases. Thanks Compass!

We ordered furniture here one day and returned the next to add one more thing on. When we did they wrote up an entirely new delivery order. They charged two delivery fees to the same address and two warranty fees when it fell under the same order. We complained to the manager, he acted like a five year old. He was overcharging us $200 by doing this. When we pointed out that we would like the orders placed together he abruptly said cancel the order and stormed off. We were long time customers of Compass, such a sad situation. I feel sorry for the sales person who sold us the furniture but there was nothing we could do. We were being ripped off and our weekend was wasted.

I had a terrible experience. I was told a piece of furniture was in stock and it wasn't. This was upsetting but we decided to order it. We were told it was going to be delivered on Monday and when Monday came we were told it had been left off the truck. Then we received a call back, were told it was delivered but they had to locate it. Went to pick it up today and it was the incorrect color. The salespeople were nice but the manager was really rude and yelled at me on the phone. This entire experience was a nightmare.

Visited this store (and their partner store, New Directions) several times before making a selection on a table. As we wanted it before the holidays we decided to pick it up from the warehouse. The salesperson assured us it was in stock, but when we went to pick it up it wasn't. After about a 20 minute of waiting and listening to one warehouse worker complain about having to be there on Sunday, we were informed (by the assistant manager of New Directions) that someone "just happened to come by that morning to pick up the only one they had". Needless to say, we cancelled the purchase on that item as well as two other pieces of furniture. The people there acted like they couldn't care less! Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.

We purchased our sofa from compass. They salespeople were friendly to help, once I brought my husband along. I'm used to it though. They left us alone to browse, and were immediately helpful once we narrowed down our choices. Sofa had to be ordered, and came in within the promised time. Prices were reasonable, and plan on making our next furniture purchase (bed for our daughter) from them.
