Ever have that restaurant that makes your mouth water every time you think of it? Well, mine is Blue. The food is ridiculously tasty. The calamari is made with a special spicy sauce that makes you feel like a pig because you just cant stop devouring it. When I know I'm in the mood for delicious, tasty, orgasm-inspired, and inducing meals, I go to Blue. Eat there!

Pros: Delicious and Tasty, isn't that the point of dining?
Cons: They need more of it!!
What a treat to have such wonderful people in the world. On the evening of Dine for Life '07 (which by the way Blue counts Drinks & Food) my party was not able to meet up with our friend. We had no way of contacting her (she had no cell) so I called the restaurant with the weird request of finding her (on a crazy busy night). The host not only found her but also put her on the phone so we could discuss the family emergency. Never seeming, inconvenienced, put out or bothered!
It is thoughtfulness like this that makes me think we are all in this together.
Coincidently, or not, I ate there the following night and our server had taken that call! He is amazing, personable and gorgeous! :( Totally forgot his name. I will post that later.

My friends love this place, but I prefer Home for comfort food. The food was good and the service was fine, but I didn't think it was anything special. Good for a weeknight dinner if Home is too crowded.

Blue has the best mac-n-cheese I have had anywhere here in the city! It is so amazing. The other food is great as well. Good prices, great food!

Pros: Food, Price
Cons: atmostphere
Since the new owner bought it a month or two ago, the place has simply gotten better. I went there the week before the new owner took over, and it was crud--they were out of six entrees, most of their wine, and the service had visible low-moral. But when I went back (I thought the new management change might make a difference), the place was a-mazing. The food was quick and excellent, the service was perfect and there were delicious specials. They repainted, cleaned, and the staff is the same, which I like. The crew is fun, smart, and intellegent--everyone is great, lots of folks from the south, and have a great knowledge of the menu and the restaurant. There's even still someone who's been working since the beginning of Blue! Just goes to show, I love coming to this place, and the staff loves being there. I love it...

Pros: Comfort Foods, Service, Area
Cons: Brunch, Nothing, Else
A friend and I stoped at Blue on 8/6 for dinner. A very handsome man with sly grin met us at the door and escorted us to a table. Turns out he didn't work there, but was a friend of one of the staff. It was quite hilarious. Food was hot and tasty. Square meal that hit the spot. I say bring back the 'waiter' who made us laugh, then darted out the door like a fugitive. This is not my first trip to Blue, and I'm happy to say again, it did not dissapoint. Bravo Blue!

Pros: food, service, friendliness
Friend and I dined here earlier this week. Simple fair, but very well done. He had the tuna casserole (who serves tuna casserole anymore?!) and I had the chicken. The hit of the evening, however, was the calamari appetizer. We were seated immediately, and served promptly. Server was very attentive, but sitting next to the kitchen may have made that inescapable. Note that you will be walking through the kitchen (and it ain't big) to get to the restroom. A little odd. But a very nice dining experience.

Pros: Food, Service, Cost
Cons: , Restroom
Went on a Sunday afternoon. Felt like a like a diner. No wait, food was delicious (I had the pork chop with balsamic reduction) and the service was good. The fries are perfect - thin, crispy and light. Would come again.

Pros: Good food, reasonable prices
Cons: Blah decor
closest you are going to get to diner food in California at double the price you'd pay in Jersey

Pros: macaroni, salads, ok service
Cons: steep wine prices, sassy waiters
You can't ask for much more from a cozy little Castro cutie like BLUE...this place consistantly serves up great meals...I particularly enjoy the fish specials which are always served with great mashed potatoes & veggies...LOVE THE SALMON! The service is always friendly and although the space is so small it's generally never too long of a wait...my only complaint is that they have not added anything new to the menu in a long time...oh well...I guess stick to what you know best...TRY IT!

Pros: GREAT FOOD, THE FISH, GREAT SERVICE
Cons: SMALL SPACE
With my French chef friend, he and I agreed to write this briefly review about Blue. As a food critic from Thailand, I am impressed by its Steamed Mussels and Pork Chop--tasty and good portion. Food is not pricy at all, between $6-16 depending on the dish. This small place is wisely decorated--low budget, but nice and cozy. Definitely good for 20s through 40s crowd. Others can have good time as well. Service is OK. We were treated not so good and not so bad; we had to ask for water and bread! But the server always came to take care of us. I would make reservation after 7:30 p.m.

Cons: So-so service
I have gone there w/ my roomate. The atmosphere is interesting. The staff are nice. Meals priced reasonably though the resturaunt itself is small...

The restaurant is small but cozy, the food is good and satisfying, the staff is friendly, and it's open late!! I've eaten there several times now and have been consistently pleased with the food. The biggest drawback is trying to find parking, but it's worth the hassle and I'll definitely be dining here again.

We went on a Thursday, and, the place was pretty full. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. This is basic comfort food--pork, mac and cheese, potatoes--done very well. I'll definitely go back. One minor complaint: I ordered a frozen margarita and was told by the server that it would take a few minutes. He never remembered to bring the drink and his tip was a bit lower because of this oversight.
