Pros: homemade corn beef hash
Cons: long waits sometimes
People, this IS the best place to have breakfast in Culver City, bar none. The servers have been there for years, and they give everyone a separate check, which I found interesting. It's great if a group of friends are there and paying separately. El Marino owners, (Sam) I believe. Get there EARLY on the weekends for breakfast. They have "healthy" options for all those watching their waistlines or carb count. They are very accommodating even for the little ones. And yes, you will wait in line. You get the feeling you are walking right into a country diner from the 70's. You can park across the street at the bank on Sundays but there is metered parking. Prices are "okay", definitely worth every penny though. The kids love the pancakes. I recommend "Sam's Special Coffee", you will love it. It's "to die for", as they say... : )

I saw an article in LA Magazine listing S&W as winner of Best Breakfast and they were absolutely right. I went on a very busy Saturday and I was quoted a wait time of about 10 minutes and was seated in less than five. The service was

Pros: Ambience, service, food
This place is *always crowded*. But, it's vintage diner: Huge portions, low prices, broken seats, and a future cardiac arrest. We've been here for breakfast several times and the food is great. Cash only.
4After politely suggesting to the owner, Michelle that customers would be tended to more efficiently if a host/hostess were hired, she commented that "we've been doing it like this for years."\r
What's she's clearly not aware of is that

The teeny place and the way old decor does not do the place justice. The food is good- comfort food at it's best, and all the wait staff is friendly and prompt. Go here and run into friends while enjoying the STRONGEST cup o java you can get for a buck & change. There is just something so fun about this place.

Small and it's been there forever- Sam and Woody's is always packed and with good reason. Expect to wait for a table at lunch on weekdays or for breakfast/brunch on weekends. It has the feel of a country diner from the decor to the female waitstaff. They only take cash and they do individual bills (great for people who want to split the bill). Large portions of incredibly yummy food (hash browns, hot chocolate, chocolate chips pancakes to name a few things one should try) for CHEAP. Definitely worth the wait.

Just like Joe's in RB this palce can be packed and often is. The service is outstanding. The eggs benedict are to die for. People in the past have said their staff is rude. I eat there almost every day and it is consistantly dynamite.

Pros: killer food

This is my first time writing in on citysearch. I had a friend in from out of town and thought it would be nice to actually have brunch in Culver City, which is where I live. However, this experience was embarrassing and will never

Pros: Location
Cons: Rude staff, long lines, cash only business
I've forgotten to bring cash here more than once and had to deal with crossing the street to get to an ATM. Nonetheless, their food is awesome, and the staff is always uber friendly.

I LOVE this restaurant, but you do have to have a lot of patience while waiting. Just to show why that is, though, here's a story for you: There's a diner right next door. My friend who grew up in CC says that it used to be open for

Pros: Staff, food, cozy ambience, great location
Cons: Long wait times at peak hours (but worth it!)
This restaurant has too long of a wait, and the food wasn't overly fantastic to be worth that wait. Also, if you want to sit outside, make sure that you tell them. The waitress sat someone else ahead of us outside, and when I addressed it,

Pros: Quality, Quantity, Service
This place has been an industry insider secret for a while now. Nestled between Sony Pictures and The Culver Studios, they do more business by 3pm than most do in two days. The staff is friendly, helpful, and not bad on the eyes.
