Definitely had an LA atmoshpere without leaving the burbs. This is a fine dining experience that suits special occasions. By far the best sushi I've had in the area. Everything was fresh and delicious. Those with us that didn't do seafood raved about the filets. The service was great too! Nothing but good things to say about Zaidi's.

We went there because a friend of ours was raving about Zaidis. We are huge sushi fans so we thought we would try it. From the moment we walked in we knew we found a great new place. The decor and atmosphere are excellent. There are fire pillars and a giant glass mermaid. Then we tried the food. I ordred a Z Crunch Roll (large orders of sushi) and my fiance ordered the sashimi. We also tried the black rice sushi. We are planning our next visit to try other menu items. Next time we will have a martini - they looked really good. So glad to have a place like this in Naperville! One word to summarize = Awesome.

Pros: Amazing sushi and great menu

Cons: location a little hard to see from 59 (83rd and Rt 59)

We went here after hearing great things from our friends. It's a little tucked away off of Rte. 59. When we walked in we were amazed - we both immediately loved the atmosphere, we felt like we slipped into the city. Then we tried the food - it would be hard to top our dining experience at Zaidi's. I had the Grilled Flank Steak and my wife had the Lobster Risotto. We can't wait to go back and try some of the other items on the menu, maybe even some of the sushi. It seems like a very fun sushi menu. The Martini's also looked very good. Highly Recommended.

My husband took me here for dinner and I was so impressed I wanted to write a review and share my experience. The food was over the top excellent (felt like we had driven to Chicago), ambience wonderful and we really enjoyed our server. I tried a martini and it was absolutely the best I've ever had. I believe I've only had a martini a few times in my life because I usually don't care for them, but this one will have me coming back again just for another one. They were so attractive so I ordered one...now I'm hooked. Great evening. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back again soon. Sure glad we tried it.

Cons: Over priced average food

I took my wife out to Zaidi's to try something new in the Naperville area. She was thrilled at my efforts. The place is very romantic and the atmosphere is suburb, but that is where the rave reviews end. The service was slow, the prices were insulting and the food was average. We were completely disappointed and wish we would have spent our money someplace else.

I've visited Zaidi's on numerous ocassions since his opening through yesterday.
Everytime I visit I find the service has improved. The food is outstanding and the options are numerous.
The atmosphere is unlike any other in the Chicagoland area. It is warm, beautiful and romantic.
I cannot say that there is a lovelier or more romantic place to spend an evening.

Cons: They have disappeared over the last four months

The sushi was some of the best I have had. The drinks were great. A little pricey but well worth it.
A taste of Chicago style eating in the burbs.

My husband and I love sushi and we are always looking for new sushi places to try out. My husband has been to Japan and had some of the finest sushi in the world - he said nothing could compare ... until we stumbled upon Zaidi's. The fire chief roll is our new favorite, but every roll we order is melt-in-your-mouth fabulous!!! We have dined at several other local sushi places and Zaidi's exceeds them all - the fish is always fresh and the wait staff is extremely friendly. Zaidi always makes a point to visit his guests and ask if their expectations have been met. We always want to try their other menu items, but we can never seem to pass up the sushi. And to top it all off, they have the best desserts - the baked Alaskan, banana bread with ice cream, and the little fried donuts are out of this world. And, even the atmosphere is awesome - the decor is really unique and the whole place is relaxing. It is more $ than other local sushi places, but it's well worth it and you are getting top quality food and service. Bottom line - great food, great service, great ambiance.

After eating at this restaurant I am craving the food! The space is beautiful, crazy and unique decor, my drink was awesome, and we had the most polite waiter I've had in a long time. Try the volcanic rock and the sliders, they're both amazing appetizers. From someone who lives in the city, it holds true to its reputation as having the Chicago vibe. I anticipate many return visits!

I have dinned at Zaidi's once before for lunch and it was pretty good. So when an out of town business associate came into town I thought we would try it for dinner. I assumed from all the great reviews that me and my associate were in for a great night. It was unfortunate but Zaidi's did not meet my expectations. Slow service, took forever in between courses, and the food when it did finally arrive was something I could have received at any generic chain restaurant in the area. I thought maybe this was my new place to impress my clients but it just didn't measure up. I would maybe try Zaidi's again but only if the food and service greatly improved.

Zaidi's is definitely our favorite new restaurant! My husband and I always enjoy dining out now that our kids are gone. We decided to try Zaidi's after reading the great review in the Napervile magazine and have found it to be our new place to eat. The food is excellent and the service has been great both times we have been there (in the last 2 1/2 weeks). The first visit I ordered the wild salmon filet and my husband had the lamb shank. Both excellent. We started with the seared tuna, which is so good you will be craving it again the next day. The atmosphere is great and the food is delightful. We were checked on many times to make sure everything was good. This place is a must try. This place feels like it should be in Chicago! We are so glad to have the likes of this type of restaurant in Naperville. Keep up the good work. Highly Recommended.

Don't waste your time, there are many other great places in the area. This place tries to hard to be upscale and as a result the food and the service suffers. The yuppies can have this place, it's not for me.

I had noticed this new sushi, seafood, steakhouse resturant and was really excited to try it out. I live in the Aurora/Naperville area and am always looking for new places to try. I had made reservations for a Saturday night, based on the reviews I read that Zaidi's can get very crowded. We arrived on time for our 7pm reservation to find absolutly no one waiting to be seated.? We checked in and were told it would be another 20 minutes. They offered to buy us a drink at the bar while we wait, very nice. The bar was very swanky looking and I could see hanging out there for a few drinks. I orderd the Geisha martini and my husband ordered a Stoli Vodka martini, both were very good. We were seated in the dining room and were greated by our waiter who seemed in a huge hurry to get our order. To start we orderd the spicy tuna roll and the fire fighter roll. Both were okay, nothing special and definity not worth the price. I have had way better sushi in the area at Momoya, Wild Tuna and Domo 77! For our entree, I orderd the shrimp, for $30 you get 6 shrimp. You read that right, 6 shrimp! Totally not worth the money. I don't mind spending $30 on a meal if it is absolutly delicious, but this was bland and boring. My husband ordered the lamb shank. He said it was okay but again, nothing special. When placing our order our waiter had asked us, "soup or salad", asuming it was included by the way he asked, we went with the lobster bisque. To our surprise when the bill came, it was not included and was $8 each. This place in theory is great and the atmosphere was nice but other then that, the food is average at best and completly overpriced! Makes me wonder who wrote all these good reviews, employees maybe..? I would only recommend this place for a drink after eating dinner, someplace else!

Before I begin my review, I'm comment on the last review posted by Bouga99. I don't think Bouga99 read the guidelines. They say "Play Fair. If you had a bad night, then review your evening and then go to bed. Don't insult other reviewers! To say that all the other reviews must be from employees is the dumbest thing that I have ever read. Why? Just because Bouga99 didn't have the perfect evening? Sounds like Bouga99 has an agenda. Why would one less-than-perfect experience into an assault on anyone else who has reviewed this restaurant? If I sound defensive, that's because I've been back twice since my first visit on 01-28-09, and Zaidis has been the picture of great food, great service and great ambiance. Remember something else: This place hasn't even been open for four months. If everything is not 5-star perfect, how about going a little easier, and then try it again?

I am not an employee of Zaidis. I live in a subdivision called White Eagle near Zaidis but I didn't pay a visit until last Wednesday. No time and too cold. Zaidis was having a celebrity bartender fundraiser going on and the bar was packed. We were going to have a drink but there wasn't even a vacant spot of floor space so we asked to be seated. The restaurant was busy, but no, not every single seat was occupied. On a Wednesday night during a down economy, during the middle of a cold freakin winter, I'd say that's pretty good.

The thing you have to understand about Zaidis is that you are not going there to stuff your face like you were at a buffet. Zaidis is a city style restaurant. That means that you are getting a generous portion of quality food that is cooked to perfection. If you want to eat until your head pops off, then head to a buffet. Having said that, anyone who has ordered any one of Zaidis sushi rolls knows that this restaurant is anything but stingy with the portions. Same goes for the steaks , seafood, and the drinks!

Have gone for lunch at Zaidi's a few times now on business and it is a great spot. Unfortunately, I have ordered the same thing (seared Tuna) since it is by far the best Tuna I have had - seared to perfection and melts in your mouth. Hostess and Bartendress are great - very friendly and social. Atmosphere is wonderful. The bar area is very relaxing and a great spot to hang out. Dining area is very elegant. As others have stated, you need to keep your eye out for it, since it is tucked away off of 59. There has been a boon in new restraunts in this area, so competition is high. Other new eateries offering sushi in the near vicinity are Wild Tuna and Tokyo Bay. I have been to both and Zaidi's is the tops. Highly recommend this spot. You will not be disappointed!

I want to start this review by first acknowledging that I'm in the restaurant business, and have been in the business for about thirty years. As someone who loves food, I enjoy trying new restaurants.

I heard about Zaidi's from a liquor distributor who told me about this new "city-style" restaurant located in South Naperville. I finally made it to Zaidi's last week and had a terrific dinner. Zaidi's doesn't look like a typical steakhouse or a seafood restaurant. It has its own unique character. I ordered duck tacos as an appetizer. Not only were they great, but the presentation and the service were outstanding. For my entree, I ordered the Wild Salmon Filet. The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. To my recollection, the salmon was topped with braised artichokes, sunchokes, and a citrus lime sauce with cilantro. It was de-licious!

The food was so very good. To be honest, I was surprised. There are lots of good restaurants in Naperville, but Zaidi's is in a league by itself. I also want to go back to the service. It really was wonderful. Mr. Zaidi came by my table twice to see how everything was. There is a beautiful wine selection that is glass enclosed towards the center of the restaurant, and as you would expect, there is also a nice bar. I didn't actually go into the bar, but there was a nice crowd and there was a band. I wish I could have stayed for a drink, but I had to get up early the next day.

I usually don't do restaurant reviews, but I was so taken with Zaidi's that I thought more people show know about what's just landed in the Naperville area. The next time I'm in the Southwestern burbs, I'm going back to Zaidi's. BTW, Zaidi's is not in Downtown Naperville. It's a little further south, and it's right off Route 59.

Zaidi's is my new favorite place to be. I crave the food here and every visit to Zaidi's is worth the drive. I drive all the way from Chicago and am always blown away by the service, the food and the ambiance. The attention to detail is unbelievable the servers are knowledgeable and make great reccomendations (so far everything on this menu has been over the top wonderful). We tried the crunchy Z roll and considered ordering more of that same roll till we were completely full. Both of us agreed it was the best sushi roll we had ever had. Zaidi's is a dining experience, everything has been perfected and is the best of the best. We spend hours here enjoying martinis and handcrafted drinks, we start with sushi, sashimi, the kobe sliders are mouthwatering....everything here is just perfect. I highly recommend going to Zaidi's, bring sushi lovers, bring steak eaters anyone who enjoys a great night out this is the place. I can't wait to get back and try yet another Zaidi's specialty.

Zaidi's is located in South Naperville - just off Rte. 59. I first heard of Zaidi's after a friend told me about their blog. The blog had a link to the menu, and after reading it, I knew that I had to get there. My husband and I went there on a Thursday. We each started with one of Zaidi's signature martinis and then ordered two orders of sliders. I don't usually care for martinis, but the Geisha is so delicious and refreshing that I am now a convert. For dinner, I ordered the Braised Lamb Shank. The lamb shank is served with "mint infused couscous, scallion ponzu & lychee black vinegar reduction" (a quote from the menu). All I can tell you is that it was the best lamb that I've ever had in my life. When lamb is cooked correctly, it's great. When it's not, forget about it. The braised lamb shank is a must. You have to try it! My husband had the Maine Lobster. It was served with beer-battered Pablano Peppers. What a combination! My husband is from Massachusetts, so he knows a thing or two about fresh lobster. As soon as he took a bite, he gave me a thumbs up, and that's all I needed to know. For dessert, believe it or not, we ordered donuts. I know - it sounds a little different, but Zaidi's donuts were incredible (the Rolls Royce of donuts if you will). Something else that made our evening a little more special was a visit from Mr. Zaidi. He came over, asked us how everything was, how everything tasted, and talked to us like he had known us all his life. It was a great dining experience and we are GOING BACK! We might even go for some martininis and donuts next time. If you're coming from Route 88 and heading down Route 59, be aware that you have to take a left on 83rd street (Oxford Bank is on the S. E. corner) and then a right into the Springbrook Square Shopping Center. Order the donuts!

Pros: Great menu variety and exotic selections

Cons: Too many great menu choices

My wife made a reservation at Zaidi's for my birthday based on a Naperville free magazine review and the web page. I was skeptical, but up for the adventure. This is Naperville, the home of loud, over priced chain type restaurants (Rosebud, Sullivan's, Hugo's Frog etc). We walked in and I was amazed at how elegant the room was. The table was elegant, the service was friendly and attentive, but not pretentious. Our server knew his wines and the menu and gave reasonable recommendations.

We had the sashimi plate, the mushroom soup and crab cakes for apps. Well presented and very nice. We then had the Fire Fighter roll and Ocean's Dragon roll, The shrimp and Char. All were perfect.

I kept leaning over to my wife and asking "Are we in Naperville?" I felt like we were in Chicago or LA. The three of us shared everything and my son who loves sushi as much as I do and has had opportunity to get more on the West Coast thought it was one of the best he had ever tried.

There is traditional Sushi, but the fusion items are wonderful. This is a great food adventure. The wine list is well ranged.

The room is pretty quiet. You can have a conversation without having to shout.

We have our ways of determining if we like a restaurant is based on if we want to bring friends to it and when in the meal we determine that. We were in the middle of appetizers and we were starting to talk about who would like it.

My only criticism is that they were giving small taster cups from the bar in little plastic cups. Not sure why, but was totally unnecessary. Also I kept noticing the servers polishing the stemware. This should be done out of sight of the customers.

It isn't cheap, but I'm amazed this quality of restaurant exists in Naperville. I'm impressed.

Wow! This restaurant has the atmosphere. When I first walked into Zaidis I was taken away by the unique look. I felt as if I was at a restaurant in downtown Chicago or LA. The staff was friendly and inviting. We were greeted immediately by a server who knew the menu very well. We started with a california roll which was wonderful. I tried two lunch entrees. I had the chicken club and pulled lamb sandwich. They both were out of this world. The flavor, unbelieveable. With those sandwiches comes thin waffle potato chips (my best description), I could not get my fill of those. We are very much looking forward to coming back. On our way out we looked into the bar area, loved the look. They offer specials on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Live entertainment as well. I recommend Zaidi's as a MUST TRY!!

I have been to Zaidi's several times and have loved it every time. My favorite thing to get for lunch is the Sliced Kobe beef sandwich and the lobster bisque. For dinner the sushi is awesome (my favorite is oceans 3). If you're a little more hungry try the Wedge salad, Bone-In Filet, and a side of Lobster Mac and Cheese. It?s to die for! On Tuesdays they also have Champagne and a Sushi Roll for $7 can't beat that! On Thursdays they have $2 sliders and $5 martinis. Tell your friends it's awesome

This restaurant is perfect. The ambience, the service the food are all extremely high quality and reaonably priced
Let's start off with the ambience. The oriental black and red themed restaurant can be seen throughout the restaurant, including the bathrooms. Beautiful, fresh, cut oriental flower on every table in the restaurant. We went on a Thursday night when they have live jazz music every week. We were able to hear the delightful music from the restaurant without interrupting our conversation.
The service was definately top quality. Our server had informed us that this restaurant had only been open for 6 weeks, I felt with the service we received that this place had been open for years. The server offered excellent choices off the menu. He had informed us the specials that they had going on during the week. On Tuesdays you can get a sushi roll and a flute of champagne for $7. On Thursdays at the bar, they have live Jazz, $2 sliders (kobe beef, chicken and other varieties) as well as several $5 martinis, including the favorite geisha drink. On Fridays they have live salsa music. We are definately coming back for these specials.
Last but definately not least, the food. We started off with the Geisha martini and a firefighter roll. The martini was a golden mango color presented with a fresh oriental flower. The sushi roll was served with their seasoned sauces sprinkled on top of the roll and on the dish, equivalent to what is often found at a 5 star restaurant. For our main course, we ordered the Lamb with couscous, kobe steak and lobster Mac and Cheese. Heaven in our mouths. We always split whatever we ordered and it was tough to want to share lol. The steak was cooked to perfection with a nice butter sauce on top. The lamb was falling off the bone and the couscous was a pleasant combo with the lamb. Finally the mac and cheese with large chunks of lobster was out of this world.

My experience at Zaidi's was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. We started off the evening with some cold sake and sushi. We ordered the Fire Fighter roll, which is a combo of spicy tuna, jalapenos, spicy scallion and another kind of tuna. In any case, it was unbelievable and the size of the roll was very generous. For dinner, I ordered the Marinated Kobe Beef Flat Iron Steak. The steak was so tender that you could cut it with a spoon. It comes marinated in a soy teriyaki sauce with wasabi butter. They should add that steak to the things you need to eat before you die. My wife had the Maine Lobster with Beer-Battered Pablano Peppers. The lobster came topped with an avocado salsa and creme fraiche. I've never seen my wife eat so fast. She loved it! We were too full for dessert, but we did order another Fire Fighter roll for the road. I should have mentioned that, on the way in, we noticed that the bar was very full and they even had live music. We had a great night and I can't wait to get back and have more of Zaidi's sushi and that awesome Kobe Flat Iron Steak. Great food and great service!

I am a HUGE lover of sushi and I am always searching for new and better places. I live in the Naperville area and have seriously tried almost every single place I can find and this is by far the best yet. I ordered the spicy tuna that I get every where I go because if they can't get that right I don't expect anything else to be that great, and it was awesome. I also ordered the firefighter and the pink lady and those also where amazing!! I decided to order a side of the Asian fried rice and i am glad I did. This was truly the best rice I have ever had, the pieces of avocado and the tomatoes and onions that were on top made it. And this was all ordered for takeout. If your in the area you have to try it. It's just a couple minutes away from fox valley mall.

I found about Zaidi's by reading a review in Naperville magazine. The restaurant is towards the southern area of Naperville, which is off the beaten path a little if you're coming from the city (Chicago), but well worth the trip. As soon as my wife and I arrived at Zaidi's, we were promptly greeted and shown to our table. The restaurant was very busy, which is all the more reason to make a reservations. We started our meal by ordering their signature cocktail, The Geisha. To say it was great would be an understatement. Zaidi's offers a large selection of Sushi, both traditional and exotic. We decided to start with Toro-Sake, which is a tuna roll that is covered in salmon tartar and an avocado sauce. My wife also ordered a bowl of Lobster Bisque which she said was "to die for." I opted for the Mojito Shrimp Salad (another winner). For my main entree, I ordered the pan roasted Alaskan Butter Fish. I am not big on fish, but the couple at the next table over told us we had to try it. So that's what I ordered, and boy was it amazing! My wife ordered the grilled pesto marinated shrimp. It was the most beautiful dish that I have ever seen at any restaurant (too pretty to eat - but that didn't stop us). I was served with a mango/black bean/avocado salsa. I tried one of her shrimps and all I can say is that's what I'm ordering the next time we go back to Zaidi's. By the time we got to dessert, we were both pretty stuffed. But after looking over the dessert menu, we decided that we couldn't leave without trying at least sharing one of the selections. We ordered tropical carrot cake, which was fantastic. The service at Zaidi's was phenomenal. The owner (Mr. Zaidi) even stopped by to see how everything tasted and to make sure that we were happy. I can't say enough about Zaidi's other than it's our new favorite restaurant and I can't wait to go back. If I could give Zaidi's 10 stars, I certainly would.
