UPDATE: THIS SHOP IS STILL OPEN-THEY LIST IT AS CLOSED SO THEY GIVE THE ILLUSION THAT THEY DO NOT WANT PEOPLE WHO HAVE READ THESE BAD AND NUMEROUS REVIEWS TO GO TO THEIR SHOP.Maureen, aren't you the wife or counter girl of the owner? Your short story on what a great shop you are holds no water. This forum is for people who get screwed over to "help"other people avoid the time, expense and aggravation of going to your "business". I personally know several people who have had a bad experience with Joe ; the owner. They were treated shabbily with his rude attitude and were never able to get their car repaired properly. As for hiding behind a keyboard , why don't you be transparent about who you are , talk about deceitful...

ps, maureen , You state in your rant that people should check with a reputable company like the BBB for a proper review; your rating with the Better Business Bureau is a D-

To all who have posted, and possibly may post, there are always two sides to every story. It is important to have reviews for any type of business; it helps a person determine if they should or should not use a particular service provider they are looking into. But those reviews need to be honest and fair. It seems many reviews are written while one is still upset, because their situation was not handled the way they wanted it to be handled. If a person had a real problem with how their issue was conducted, the mature and correct thing to do is to speak to a reputable review board like the Better Business Bureau, or speak to whoever was overseeing your problem like an adult and find a compromise, not hide behind a computer, and post false and inaccurate reviews to an unreliable and disreputable website. Unfortunately this business is filled with thieves trying to scam people out of their hard earned money, giving the rest of the honest hard working owners and mechanics a bad name. This website is only a portal for cowards who do not have a valid claim to even present to the Better Business Bureau or any other authentic and reputable company like Angies list. Argyle Auto Service has been in business for a long time, and is an outstanding member of the community. They are involved with many different organizations, and try hard to give the best service possible. They do not send parts across the country without even seeing the problem, they will not participate in illegal activates according to New York State such as taking credit cards over the phone. The majority of these bad posts only show that these cowardly spoiled people cannot understand normal thinking. These cowards who are nasty rude and obnoxious will never find service that satisfies them anywhere, because they think the world revolves around them. If they really wanted their problems handled they would have dealt with it like an adult, instead of hiding behind a computer screen, like middle school children. For any future posts, if there is a problem handle it with a reputable review bored or go to Argyle Auto Service, and have a civil and honest conversation with the owner, he will correct your problem to the best of his abilities.

Do not bring you car for service here! I cannot tell you the poor quality of service I received from this place today. Joe the owner was so nasty. And while he accepts credit cards, he refused to allow me to pay my bill over the phone to release my car. With my 2 year old daughter I had to take a taxi to go to the bank to get cash to go pay him. Otherwise he threatened to lock my car up and would charge me daily storage fees on top of that. He ended up charging me for the tow $50 for a .7 mile tow and $85 for diagnostics plus tax. He didn't even fix my car. This is not how people should be treated. My car is on its way to my dealer for service, where I should have went in the first place.

Im a car guy that always did his own repairs. Those days are pretty much over except for the basic oil changes, brakes and stuff like that. Any repairs I cant do, I take my vehicles to Joe at Argyle Auto. Joe can diagnose any problem you bring to him.He will explain the problem and tell you everything that the repair entails.I recommend this shop to anyone who cares about there car.Give him a try,and check out the huge USMC Toys for Tots car show he hosts every year.

Dropped my car off with a small and very slow leak in the hydraulic line. Argyle managed to blow my rack and pinion while attempting to replace the line. Independent mechanics I have spoken can't understand how that could have happened. Alright, had no choice but to pony up for a rebuilt rack and pinion from Argyle (well over $1K). Constantly leaked and another 4 attempts at repair by Argyle but still not working right. On one attempted repairs, they didn't bother flushing system of air. "I forgot." Was on trip when r and p totally broke down and had to go to another mechanic. R&P was still under warranty from Argyle but Joe would not answer my calls or return my messages. Had job done an independent shop and he told me that the subframe on car had never been dropped (bolts still had paint from factory) which is required step so the rack can be fitted. He said whoever put in the rack used brute force to attach the rack, and broke the pinion input shaft (which was caused leak). He said they also broke the coupler and badly damaged the ball joint on the steering column which is too expensive to repair, A $30 leak ended up costing me $3K and left me with iffy sterring for good. Basically destroyed a fine car.

Problems were not fixed and was unresponsive to requests to do the job right. I would not recommend this shop.

They were able to solve an ongoing issue that others were stumped. My car was held by others for days. After leaving my car for service, I was called early in the afternoon the SAME DAY with repairs completed at very reasonable pricing. The cleanest repair shop I have seen, nice people.
Thank you!

Argyle Auto Service is a very reliable place to bring your car to be serviced. The owner is extremely nice and has serviced my car very quickly! Very close to my house.
