excellent food...poor service.

This place is just all around solid.
The food is fabulous. George puts a great deal of pride and love into his profession and you can tell. It is obvious that begins with fresh, high quality ingredients, and is committed to excellence in preparation and service.
Try the Kashmir Chicken...it is devine, thedescription doesn't sound like something I would enjoy, but tried some of my friend's once, and now I am an addict!

It isn't cheap, it is high value. You can't touch food of this quality for the price. The prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area, probably lower. George cooked for dignitaries back in Lebanon, he created the Kashmir Chicken/Shrimp created for them.

The atmosphere is modest but elegant and romantic.
They always great me with a warm, GENUINE smile, like they are welcoming me into their home. But I must say that I do come in smiling and have been there several times. Still, like other people have said, it doesn't take long for them to know you by name. They are extremely humble and perhaps uncertain socially until they get to know you. They are dedicated to your dining experience.

My wife and I went on the recommendation of many here.
The food was excellent, some of the best here in Dallas.
However, the service had a lot to be desired. It's a family run business...I get it. But, is it too much to ask for the waitresses to simply say hello and thank you? Is it too much to ask for them to have a smile on their face?
They looked like they didn't want to be there. Their attitude made that clear.
I'd say to the owners, be careful, many of us go out to eat for both the food and atmosphere. You have the food down, but your service may cause others like myself, to choose another place to dine at.

I love their salad, pies, kabobs and hummus. The lady who served us was very friendly. Decor could be updated a little.

Not trying to start anything but the picture for "starlight93", I can't help but notice that you are an employee at Sevan. I have been in there many times and I recognize you from your picture. While I know you must be proud of where you work or you would not have taken the time to come on here and write what you did, I also don't think this is a fair practice. I also think it is extremely unprofessional for you to call out other reviewers. If you offer a salad on your menu it should be up for review just as any other item is. Lastly, you are exaggerating a bit on the average price of an entree. It is not $9 but closer to $12 or $13. Not that there is a huge difference but that is misleading for potential diners. Just wanted to put this out there.

Going off the reviews on here my boyfriend and I decided to try this place last night. We're new in town and big foodies so we're always looking for restaurants that are unique and have something different to offer.

I hate to hinder the love here but I have to say this place was a huge disappointment. This was not helped by the fact that we drove almost 50 miles round trip (we're in Arlington) to eat here.

Right off the bat I was not impressed by the menu. The food seemed like pretty simple Greek fare that could easily be prepared at home for a lot cheaper. It's not that a lot of the food didn't sound good but again I'm not going to pay $15 for grilled chicken and roasted vegetables that I can prepare in my kitchen any night of the week.

We decided to start off with the roasted eggplant dip. It was okay; not terrible, not great.

We then both decided to get the grilled chicken salad. (Not planned that way just happened to be the only thing that either of us could half way get excited about since at least it did mention a homemade dressing and an array of vegetables)

The salad was a good salad. It was plentiful in chicken and did have all the mentioned vegetables...sort of. My salad had no bell peppers whatsoever, not the first one. My boyfriend's salad, however, was loaded with them. Not even exaggerating I would say he had the equivalent of an entire bell pepper in his salad. Since he loathes bell peppers I felt really bad for him but offered to take some of them off his hands.

The place was not busy at all. Plenty of empty tables which I found odd for a Friday night between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. Although they were not busy the service was extremely slow. I asked for a refill when our meal came and received one approximately 10 minutes later. When we were finished eating we sat there with our forks and napkins on our plates clearly indicating we were finished eating. After another 10 to 15 minutes of sitting like this with no acknowledgment from the staff I called our server over and asked for our ticket. After another 5 minutes or so she came back from the kitchen, empty handed, looked at our table and did the "Ohh" and went back to return with our ticket a few more minutes later.

Obviously I was not at all impressed by this place. The food was decent but all factors considered I was pretty disappointed to drive 50 miles and spend around $40 (drinks, tax, and tip included) for eggplant dip and two salads.

Pros: No wait for a table

Cons: Quite a few

We learned about this restaurant because the owners were our neighbors. I didn't think I would like Lebanese food, but I just flew all the way back from SD after we moved there, to come back and eat George and Grace's food. How is that for dedication to their cooking. They believe in only using the freshest, best ingredients and will except nothing less. Their children help out once in a while and are learning great Christian, American values and how to work hard and enjoy our freedoms. We love their Cafe and would recommend everyone to try it out. You too will be a fan for life! I love their shrimp curry and my daughter loves their chicken Kabob!

I discovered SEVAN close to a year ago. The hand-made fresh hummus won my heart over from the start, but I have since grown to love everything on the menu. They make all of their food fresh daily and they use organic ingredients. Another thing that keeps bringing me back is the fact that this is a family owned and operated restaurant. I eat out ALOT and tend to frequent the same restaurants over and over. Sevan is the only place that recognizes me by name. It's a good feeling at the end of the day. Great customer service, GREAT food, great experience!!! and its BYOB

.

We LOVE this place!!! George and Grace (the owners) are so warm and welcoming every time we come in and the food is delicious. The BYOB option is great -- bring what you love from home or you can purchase at the liquor store next door. It's the perfect place to sit with friends and catch up while eating your favorite Mediterranean delights. Everything we've ever ordered here has been good, but we almost always order a mazza plate (dolmas, eggplant dip and humus) and the chicken tawook. Both are excellent! This is not a trendy, see-and-be-seen atmosphere, so if that's what you're looking for, this isn't your place. But if you're looking for delicious food in a warm and friendly environment, there's no where better!

This has been our favorite cafe since we tried it a couple of years ago. It is our "go to" place for birthdays, anniversaries, etc... because--we can bring our favorite wine, it is very reasonably priced, great ambiance, family owned and friendly--but most important--it is in our opinion, the best food in Dallas, TX. Every meal there has been perfectly prepared and presented. My husband loves the gyro plate and I try everything including the Chicken tawook (kabob), grilled talapia, Kashmir chicken, various salads, and homemade baklava.
It has zip curb appeal, but when you pick up your fork, you will know "you have arrived" at one of your favorite eating locations. Don't miss it!

We love Sevan! The food is great and the B.Y.O.B. really saves you money. We usually grab a bottle of wine from next door, across the street, or from home and head to Sevan fo some great food. Remember, this is a family operation, there may be a 10-year old boy playing Game Boy at the bar on a Wednesday night with his homework workbook next to him, his dad is manning the kitchen, and his sister is working the dining room, but hey, America, welcome to the rest of the world!
The food is always fresh and wonderful (not to mention plentiful), the service is unobtrusive without being stand-offish, and the music is....Mediterranean (surprise!).
Greek salad
Hummus
Pita platter
Pistachio Chicken
Breakfast/Brunch...
It's all good.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do, and let's keep things in the neighbohood!

Great food reasonable prices and excellent service at Sevan G&G cafe. Best dinning experiance I have had in a long time. First of all we were seated when we arrived within less than one minute. Their hummus, and egplant dip are the best I have ever had. The pistashio chiken is their specialty and it's delicoius! Also, my friends ordered the gyros plate and the talapia. The gyros plate was filling and the meat was awsome. The talapia was light and perfectly seasoned it was served with rice and grilled veggies. Our service was prompt and attentive. Our waitress was very courteous and our table was kept clean of dirty dishes. I can't wait for the next time I go to try something different, I am sure I won't be disipointed! They are B.Y.O.B. and serve Hookahs as well!

Great dinning experience! We go to Sevan about once a week and we try new things everytime, and its always tasty and fresh! Best eggplant and hummus I have had, there is also this walnut dip that is unique and very delicious with red wine. The mazza plate is a good sampler appitizer and the mix kabob is great sampler entree. They also have the best gyros ever! The chicken and lamb kabobs are well seasoned and grilled. The prices are reasonable, we pay about $30 - 40 when we go. The family that opperates it is great and caring, you won't feel like its corporate-owned! You'll have to try it for yourself!

The food is fabulous here and I only know because I used to help make it. Definitely try the pistachio chicken as it is far and away the most delectable dish on the menu. Beware of becoming too friendly with the owner or he could misinterpret your intentions or maybe he has learned his lesson!!!

I tried the chicken kabob at Sevan a few days ago and it was the best I have ever had!! It came with a garlic sauce which was excellent! I also liked the rice and grilled veggies that were with it as well. I had the greek salad as well it was fresh, and tasty. I also ordered baklava at the end it was perfect and not too sweeet. I recommend this place to anyone looking for good food, price, and service.

My husband and I eat at Sevan once a month and have for 3 years. We have taken many friends that are virgins to Greek/Mediterranean food and they have always loved it and want to go back. Kashmir chicken is so good and I don't like curry. This dish has a very mild curry taste to it and is deivine. The amtosphere is wonderful and it's kid friendly. We spend every Valentines and New Years Eve at Sevan. Enjoy!

We go here a couple times a month for dinner and always enjoy every experience. The restraurant is family owned and operated and very personable. You can dine in (and bring a bottle of wine from next door) or carry out. We'll be moving out of the area soon and will continue to drive 20+ miles just for the service and the food!

I have taken all my favorite family and friends to visit this wonderful restaurant as if it were my own private dining room complete with my own Mediteranean family.

Each mouth watering dish is made fresh with a master chef's usage of the Greek and Lebanese herbs and spices and is well worth any wait time. You won't even realize you have been waiting as you gaze around the simple dining area at the creative use of colored bottles, plastered walls and the most beautiful capaccino machine I have ever seen.

The Restaurant is right across the street from the Whole Foods market in a little strip center between some type of gas station and a convenience store. The conveniece store sells a lovely variety of wines which compliment the "bring your own bottle" policy of the restaurant. Come see for yourself, its a wonderful experience for your taste AND your pocketbook.

I pass by Sevan everyday on my way to work. One day I decided to give it a try. I went in with my friend around lunch time the were serving breakfast and mediterranean so we ordered some of each. We ordered the Greek omelet and gyros sandwish, they were both delicious! But I was especially fascinated by the Greek omelet it was the best I have ever had. Fresh ingredients, served with the best pan fries, huge, and tasty! The sandwish was only 5 dollars and it was also huge and marvelous. The food at Sevan is homemade, not greasy and very reasonable prices. I hope you give it a try!

We visit Sevan several times a year. Each time the food is excellent, friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. Even though it's a small restaurant, having a small child is not a hassle, and the owners always greet us with a warm welcome.
The homemade humus and Chicken Pistachio dish are a definite must.
Last time we attended, there was no beer license, but there is an off-license about 50 yards away on same block.. no problems..
Highly recommend a visit !!

I just ate here today after reading rave reviews about the restaurant, and I have to agree with all of the above reviews. The restaurant does not look very impressive from the outside, but inside, the atmosphere is very cozy and ambient. The food was wonderful. I had a very good appetizer sampler platter (Mazza platter). The Kabobs were delish!! Everything in the meal was great. My sister tried the pistachio chicken, which was great also. The portions are large and prices very reasonable. Great place for casual romantic dinner!!! The owners are very personable and hospitable. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants excellent food for a great price in a nice atmosphere. It's BYOB also, with no corking fee.

I have eaten Lebanese food in Lebanon, Greece, San Francisco, Florida, Atlanta, Washington DC to name a few. Sevan has the best that I have had the pleasure to eat. Add to that a friendly atmosphere, great service, ambiance and viola you have a wonderful wonderful restaurant run by a wonderful family. Yes the family really does do it all here, and your family is always treated as an honored guest.

All this and they do not charge you admission, or very much for the wonderful food and service. And, you can bring your own wine, always a winner with us.

We will continue to be loyal and very satisfied customers as long as George and company continue to serve up such scumptious fair.

The food at Sevan is great weather you are there for brunch, lunch or diner. The omelets are huge, and tasty. The waffles are homemade and delicious. Lunch specials and huge sandwiches (4.99) are available everyday except Monday because they close for brunch and lunch, but are open for diner. You should come for diner first bring your wine then sit down and enjoy. The mazza plate is an amazing appetizer sampler. Try the Sevan hummus it is hummus toped with lamb and pine nuts. After if you want to pick an entree you should go for the kabobs or the pistachio chicken, but if you want to go for something good and different try the Kashmir chicken or shrimp the are both wonderful. Give it a try it's the best in town!

We can't say enough good things about Sevan! The food here is excellent. Pistachio chicken is the best! Lamb chops and kabobs and all the appetizers are also fabulous. BYOB cuts down on the expense. They also serve breakfast. The front doesn't have great "curb appeal", but inside it's a cozy family atmosphere.

Pros: Good Food, Inexpensive, Family Oriented

Cons: Greenville Ave

.

Friendly service, nice atmosphere. The food, though, is incredible. Great hummus & taboli. Gyros are excellent and so is the spanakopita. The pistachio chicken is wonderful and could feed 3!!! Worth a try.
