I'm in the middle of fighting a Bait and Switch. A couple others below referred to it...wish I had read this page before I picked up my toyota. My husband told them what he wanted, they said yes, we have that then I picked up the car. Conveniently, for them, I trusted them to give us what my husband had asked and paid for and I didn't check all the details. I did notice that the "electric running boards" were not electric and I could not step on them because my foot didn't fit on them. The salesman told me over and over that this is what they came with and all the cars in the lot had the same kind - there were no electric running boards... The brochure does list them...

They lied, put on parts that don't really work (like running boards you can't actually step on), and just today accused me of picking up the car and then shopping around for a better price and now want to return it....um yea, right...silly me, I thought most people shopped around for the best price BEFORE they bought a car... I guess that would be smart people and they were telling me that I'm not smart...anyway, we're in the middle of the mess now, no resolution -only insults so far!

I think I fell prey to a bait and switch deal from Toyota car dealers in Dublin CA. They had initially traded in my damaged car for $3000 and let me buy new Toyota car after I told them that I would go for a trade in only if I get a good deal. They called me back and said contract was void and I had to sign a new contract for the new car as the car I traded in was totaled as per the auto body shop. I was shocked as I had taken my damaged car to them and they in turn sent it to the body shop they dealt with internally and told me that the damages were for $6000. Why did they not tell me that the car was totaled then? Why did they wait until I sign the contract and took the car home? The Toyota manager informed me that I could not cancel the whole contract and return my Toyota corolla 2013 as it was a used car now after 2 days of purchase. I was forced to sign a new contract.
The irony of it all is, we'd have gone with the new car on that day even if we were told the truth that our car would be totaled. We trusted Jojo, whom we'd dealt with before, and knew that he'd understand and offer us something we'd like. The manager "George" or whatever his name is, didnt have to do the "Bait and Switch" with us, especially with that drama of asking us take all our stuff out of the new car and hand over the keys because we didnt sign the new contract then and there at 9 pm in the night. On top of it, he told me that B&S would charge us nothing as they hadn't performed any repairs.. They charged us $400 for keeping the car with them for 7 days! The feeling of being cheated on and lied to... I guess one has to experience it to know it.

I've was faced with some credit challenges to due having been out of work for almost 2 years. Well I am now working and need to find an economical vehicle as I am spending $30 daily for gas to commute in my Silverado. I still have 9 months left on the lease and need to get out of the lease somehow. The only way is to try and burry the remaining 9 lease payments into a new vehicle. I was assured by a finance manager that it could be done. What he failed to tell me was that he could only do it on one vehicle. I expressed that I am not going to just settle on any vehicle. He passed me off to another finance person who said there was nothing he could do, and that was without even talking to the bank. He said that he already knows what the bank would say. So I was humiliated at how they treated me. On Tuesday I recieved a call from the so called Sales Manager who asked if they satisfied my needs. I told him the story and he said that the way I was treated was unacceptable and that he would take care of it and also work with some banks. He also promised he would call me back at 4. By 5 I decided to call them and no one new anything of the call I received earlier that day. They told me it was not their fault that I have crappy credit and just kept on insulting me. I then hung up. I called back to talk to the Store manager and was told that he was not in and that I could speak to the next person in line. I found myself then talking to the same guy who in the first place said that my situation would be no problem. Now he said that he could have done a deal on only one vehicle and said that he did not want to sell me a car. I am so fed up with dealerships like this so instead of just sitting back and accepting to deal with the way they treated me I am filing a complaint with the BBB, I have already filed a complaint against the dealership with corporate Toyota, sending a complaint to the 3 main Bay Area News Stations, posting this on Youtube and much much more. I hope the dealership reads this. I give credit to this bad experience to the following employees of Dublin Toyota, Ryan (Finance), Javier (Finance), Moe (Sales) and the Finance Manager.

WARNING!! Worst Experience Ever!!! New car purchase from Dublin Toyota Scion
BEWARE! The old Bait and Switch game is still alive and well at Dublin Toyota Scion in Dublin, CA. On Sunday December12, 2010 I got a phone quote on a 2011 Toyota Camry from a Toyota dealership in Modesto, CA. Not wanting to drive that far my sister suggested that I call Dublin Toyota which was closer to see if they would match that price. I called Dublin Toyota and spoke to a salesperson that identified himself as Jojo. Jojo informed me that he would, indeed, match the price. My family and I drove down to Dublin Toyota where hoards of salespeople approached us. I insisted that I wanted to talk to Jojo. Jojo finally came out to greet us. I introduced myself and my family and informed Jojo of our earlier telephone discussion.
After the introductions we went to Jojos desk and he wrote up the papers for the 2011 Camry but the out-the-door price was now $3,500 more than he had quoted on the phone. I told him that was not the price that I agreed to on the phone and that I wouldnt buy the car at that price. He then shifted the conversation to a 2011 Venza that was on the showroom floor. He talked about what a great deal he could get me on a 2010 Venza because of the end of the year sale. He showed us the 2010 Venza which really was a nice cross-over SUV so we agreed to the out-the-door price $27,000.00 on the 2010 Venza. Jojo left the paperwork on the desk and went and talked to the sales manager and seemingly disappeared. The floor manager approached us and told us that he was now handling the transaction. That Jojo doesnt know how to sell cars, hes been fired. The floor manager took the paperwork and said let me see what I can do. He came back without the paperwork and started to try to start negotiations over stating that he could sale the Venza to us for $30,000.00. Once he said that I requested to see the managerthe person that he kept running back and forth to see. I went over to see the sales manager to find out what the problem was. I told him that I had initially agreed with Jojo to buy the 2011 Camry for $20,000.00 matching price of the Modesto dealership----that changed; the price was raised to $23,500.00. Now I had agreed with Jojo to buy the 2010 Venza for $27.000.00 out-the-door, that changed; now the price is $30,000.00 plus taxes and license. Whats going on here? You guys wasted my time I could have driven to Modesto and back by now. The sales manager got extremely belligerent and started using profanityIm not selling you any f*cking car; get the f*ck out of my dealership.
THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THIS TYPE OF SITUATION CLEARLY SHOWS THAT THIS WAS A BAIT AND SWITCH TACTIC FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.TWICE NO LESS. THE FIRST TIME TO GET ME INTO THE DEALERSHIP UNDER THE GUISE OF MATCHING PRICES TO SALE ME THE CAR AT A HIGHER PRICE THAN PREVIOUSLY QUOTED: THEN, AGAIN, CHANGING THE AGREED UPON PRICE ON ANOTHER CAR. NOT TO MENTION THE ARROGANCE OF THE SALES MANAGER AND HIS GROSS DISRESPECT OF ME AND MY FAMILY.

I appreciate how they managed my expectations. Originally, they told me the work would take 3 hours. When I arrived, they were quick to inform me that it would, in fact, take about 5 hours. That was fine because they were upfront at the beginning, and their honesty helped me manage my time that day. Eric is very nice to work with and responds immediately to my calls.
