.

when we moved to Happy valley, I took a good month to visit ABSOLUTELY ALL the daycare facilities and preschools in the Happy vallley area.

I have to say that my option would have been to enroll my child in another school initially, but the monthly tuition was sky rocketing compared to all the other preschools in the area, and the fact that the Director of the Goddard school disqualified and spoke dirty about the other schools was kind of like a red flag to me. (specially when I realized it was not true)

When I visited happy Valley preschool, my child loved it immediately, DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE...The staff was very friendly and they even invited my child to sit down with the other kids and have lunch!

What I was completely sold on was in their indoor gym and their everyday PE classes; Knowing how much it rains in oregon, there's nothing better than knowing that my child could ran freely and waist all that energy away. Now she comes home ready to take a nap.
Something else that I liked a lot, is that many of the teachers have been working there for 17 years!!! that speaks for itself...

The administrative staff is very friendly and open to any suggestion you may come up with.

I have to mention too that this was the 2nd school that smelled good as you walked in and didn't feel stuffy...

I also would like to express and observation. As you may know, Happy Valley is a city where most of its citizens are professionals and their living arrangements and education are way above the rest of the medium class; so, by consecuence, most of the parents you will see getting in and out the school are defintely more polished and multicultured than what you would expect on Clackamas or the rest of Portland. If you are professional and are used to higher standards of living, you are going to love this...no hippies or tiedye shirts honey!

CONS
- being totally objective, I feel they should inforce sick child policy more strictly. There are children that come for weeks with green nose discharge and they do nothing more than spread their virus to the other kids we hardly try to get them healthy.
- I wish they would include DENTAL hygiene after lunch.
- They don't have any "social parent network" going on
- I wish their parking lot will have a carport with a covered path to the entrance, since most of us have one child and one baby and with the rain it's hard to place kids fast in the car without getting soaking wet.
- I'm not aware of their disinfecting policies of the toys after school time.

PROS
- the offer different rates, wether you want 1 day, 3 days, full days, ect.
- Totally affordable
- Very loving teachers
- Tons of space
- lots of art projects being done every day
- doble secured gate and computer password entrance
- they offer breakfast, snack and lunch!
- I feel they cater to the needs of my child.

well I hope this honest and unbias review it will be helpful to other parents...Now I'll continue writing what my impression was of the other preschools!

Pros: open space, affordable, indoor gym, outdoor playstructures

Cons: sick child enforcing policy, social network for parents

As a mom and educator I would warn you to send your child somewhere else. The children are shuffled from room to room throughout the day and aren't able to engage in activities at their own pace, which is a crucial piece of their development. The activities aren't even developmentally appropriate either. Their are so many other programs out there that respect and nurture your child's individual personalities and learning styles, so I urge you to make a different and better choice for your child!
