In 02/08 I went on a hunt for new A/C units for my 7 year old home that had builder junk units that liked to break down on the hottest days of the year. After lots of research and recommendations I settled on Hendel's and purchased 2 American Standard
(Trane) units a 3 and 4 ton with 10 year warranties. I felt at the time they were honest and didn't try to sell me the most expensive or units with lots of bells and whistles I didn't need. The morning of the install a crew of about 8 or more showed up about 7 or 8 and started taking the old out and installing the new and finished by early afternoon. Damage was done to my ceiling that I didn't notice until after they left and after a phone call Hendel's sent someone out and had the opening and ceiling repaired. I was disappointed the crew thought it was okay to leave it like that but was thankful the company did the right thing. Problems with the 4 ton started early on with it freezing up always in the evening on hot humid days. I called left a message after hours and did get a call back the next day and a repair man was sent out, added freon and the unit worked again. I was always asked if my filters were dirty and the answer was no since I change them every 2 weeks in the summer. Everything that I have researched and read on new units freezing says most of the time the units not installed correctly. I can't say this for sure since I'm not trained in A/C installation or repair. Also, I pay to have the units so called serviced every year and keep the area around the outside units clean and clear of plants so thats not an issue. The latest issue I have had with the 4 ton unit is the thermostat will turn off. The first time it happened I thought maybe it had been turned off by accident so didn't think much of it until Friday when it happened. As soon as I realized I might have a problem I called Hendel's told the person on the the phone my problem and that I would also like my units serviced. The technician showed up around 1:00 the time I was told and wanted to know the problem since he was told I was a "No Cool" call and he was not scheduled for a service call and I would need to call back and reschedule that. I told him what was happening the thermostat was turning off and he said he thought it might be a bad thermostat so he went to his truck to call the office. He came back in the house with a new thermostat and told me it was not covered under the 10 yr. warranty since that is only for the 2 units and it would cost $155.00 plus a half hour for labor. I thanked him for his time and told him that I had given Hendel's a small fortune for new units, paid to have them serviced every year so the least they could do would replace a faulty thermostat they installed with the new units. I called back to Hendel's and was told by the person who answered they were not covered, so I asked the name of a person in charge and was told Scott was out of the office until 3:00, so I asked that he call me back when he returned. Just a little annoyed at this point I called Honeywell the thermostat company and spoke to Derrick and told him my problem and gave him the model and serial number. He went over a few things with me and told me there is a 5 year warranty on their thermostats that were professionally installed. Really annoyed I called Hendel's back asked for Scott the name I was given then put on hold for a
minute before she came back to be told he was in a meeting at 4:30 on a Friday. It has been over 24 hours and still no returned call. I'm now angry for being lied too and sorry I have referred my neighbors, friends, and people from work to them. I will be sure to let them know so they can make the choice to look for a new company. Before this happened I would have given them at least 4 stars and most likely 5. I feel at this point they were out to make more money off me when if wasn't necessary or worth losing customers over.

Very satisfied with the contractor. I used them for a previous a/c install in 1994. In June 2011 it died. So I called the same contractor without hesitation. I have always been happy with Hendel's!!!

Our compressor failed, and we chose Hendels through Rosie on the House to do a complete replacement because the salesman garanteed they could give us a balanced high efficiency system. After doing major damage to our wiring and dryer vents in the attic on the install, we ended up with 80% of the air going into one bedroom. We called them back and they were VERY rude, then finally they added a tangle of ducts in the attic to get some air to other rooms. After they left, I checked their work and there were severe leaks at almost every connection in the attic as well as major electrical hazards and other installation problems. They had left the return duct adaptor loose in the filter pan and it was sucking all of the insulation out of the attic through the AC unit into our house. If I did not know what to look for, we would be loosing over 40% of our cool air into the attic! We had to have our ducts cleaned twice and our house was full of dust. I tried to get them to come back and they refused saying that ""since we paid the invoice, we had accepted their work"". The owner called me and threatened to sue me for harrassment because I called them 2 times and finally had asked for the owner!! I was courteous, but firm and never rude to them, but I called them on their rudeness. Finally Rosie Romero forced them to come back because he knew their install was well below the minimum standard. Then they were EXTREMEMLY RUDE and still left is with very little cool air to the front of the house. Rosie promised that they would be calling me to take care of it, but that was about 4-5 months ago now.

I have never been more appalled by a company who refuses to not only take responsibility but keeps making the problem worse. I don't know if they are just angry at us so they installed the damper incorrectly or they genuinely don't know what they are doing. Please, do yourself a favor and DO NOT use this company.

I recently had my A/C system checked by Hendel's - they were prompt, courteous, and responded to all my requests - they checked both the outside unit, as well as the air handling system in the attic (the outside temp was at least 110 F!). I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the future.

I had a new A/C installed a few years ago by Hendel's and I was very impressed with how fast they installed it. They arrived promptly and it was installed within a few hours! Hendel's is also the only company I will call for service. I tried to use the SRP referral and the company they referred me to couldn??t get the date right. They showed up a day before my appointment and I never called them back. The small savings was not worth the frustration of going through a third party for a service call. You get what you pay for! Hendel??s is always professional and I see why they have a great reputation!

i buy parts regularly from hendels under the handy man clause. I have shopped around and their pricing is pretty good and the fact that they are open saturdays and sundays helps me alot cause that is when I do most of my business and the other supply houses are closed.

you might be able to find a cheaper motor online, but then you have to wait to ship it. Then if you want to overnight it, you probably will pay more, and it could be damaged in transit.
Good company in my opinion.

Dont ever Buy parts from them,I bought a fan motor that they charged me twice as much that is the going rate,Yes,I should have shooped around,but unfortuantly needed then ..Motors are allover the internet for $70-75,I was charged $150..
Yep Im a sucker,But they lost my bussiness,and anyone that I talk with also..

Their service call price averaged less than most and I never felt I was being taken.That's why I purchased a new Trane from them, when even I knew it was time to retire the old dog after 22 years of service.My new unit was cost competative, installed precisely as promised, runs quietly and performs great.All Hendel's personnel with whom I have dealt were courteous, concerned, cooperative and caring.I am indeed a a satisfied customer.

They easily fixed all the cheap Air conditioner issues from our builder. They don't offer a free annual check-yep, but you don't get the feeling that they are robbing you. It's worth the fee for honesty.They were able to make an appointment within 24 hours in May.
Service Techs were clean, kind and quick.
