Went and saw a show there last night. The show was great! Unfortunately..... all was ruined about how I felt about this club because the bartenders are not only the most rude and obnoxious people I have every dealt with but they also

As a Native New Yorker, I was thoroughly impressed by the scene at Santos on Friday night. After the obligatory door drama, my friends and I danced until 4:30am in a refreshingly unpretentious, come as you are environment. I was transported back to a time when you could just party...no couture or $1,000 bottles required. I didn't think that parties like this existed anymore, but I'm glad that they do. Anyone who wants a true taste of pre-gentrified New York, should check this out. The music was an incredible mix of hip hop, soul, R&B and house...not your usual Hot 97 continuous loop. Keep it coming Santos.

Pros: Throwback to a better time

I went to Santos' Party House on a friday March 6th, with my husband and two other friends. I had the best time there that I've ever had at any dance club I've went to. The door men were so nice and the bartenders in the south pole even nicer. We all got there early and had no problem getting in. They do not have a strict dress code which I loved (I wear sneakers and jeans as does everyone else) The music was non-stop and great to dance to. Never a dull moment. I will be coming again and again every year we go. It got a little crowded upstairs after 1:00pm but downstairs was room to move and dance around. The coat check was great and nice people. The drink prices were not bad for New York City. I loved every minute of it and would go back in a heartbeat. thanks sooooo much Santos'.

Pros: Big dance floors, great music, decently priced drinks, great all around

Cons: none

Went to Santos on friday night (1/9/09) for the q-tip & rich medina night. The line was craaazy long. So long that Q-Tip himself came out and was taking pictures of it. My friend and I got in after a group of girls that had some sort of hookup with one of the bouncers let us tag along with them-- otherwise we would've been on that line for at least a good 45 minutes. Once inside though, the music and crowd were cool. Great selection of classic r&b and rap. Eventually though, it was just straight rap--which is fine with me-- but as the night went on, the crowd changed and it got pretty hood in there. It became a totally different vibe and I had the eerie feeling like something was going to pop off. It's pretty spacious overall, but with so many people (some who didn't check their coats, and you know how bubble coats take up room) it was hard to dance. Try as you will, it's impossible to not bump other people or not get bumped yourself, which is really annoying. And when we left at 2, there was a mob scene outside of people trying to get in. Crazy.
Overall, the music was great but I can't say I'd go back. I gave 3 stars only because of the kind of crowd that eventually took over.

Pros: great music, cheap drinks, nice bi-level space

Cons: coat check needs to be mandatory; the line to get in; hood crowd; $10 cover

New York nocturnes have a new place to call home. The industrial no-frills space has a gritty downtown 80s throw-back vibe and a killer sound system to boot. Dancing is definitely not prohibited here! Love it!!!

I went to Santo's this past Friday night. Q-Tip was DJ-ing, and there was a bit of a line, but no more than a 10 minute wait. It was well worth the wait. The cover charge was 10 bucks. Red bull/vodka's were 12 bucks. My friend got a blue moon pint for 7. Do not go there if you don't intend on dancing. These club go-ers are chilled back, and just want to enjoy the good music that you will not hear on the radio. I would suggest staying on the downstairs level if you don't want to dance. I will definitely go back. There was no drama, or trouble. The music was so good, I didn't know if we were ever going to leave! We eventually left at 4am.

Santos is by far my favorite place in the city... I work in nightlife marketing so I know first hand how a lot of club owners aim for quantity of clientele over quality of clientele... this place has more spark and character in 'it's little finger' than any place I can think of at the moment. You don't worry about what you're wearing or how much you'll end up blowing on drinks! The drinks though have gotten a little bit more expensive but what can you do... Go wiggle with some hipsters and be glad that there's still some soul left in the city after all :)

I was at Santos' last night, and arrived about 11pm with my friends. From the second we walked up to the door, I found Santos' staff to be friendly and the music to be fantastic and the other partygoers to be some seriously cool people. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a solid time without all of the pretentious BS that seems to be attached to other venues in Manhattan. If you're not having fun at Santos' something is seriously wrong.

I've never been compelled to write a review of a place before, but this time I had to do it. Santos Party house is so good it deserves to be known. The first night I went was with my girlfriends and they had to drag me there. But once I walked in, I was shocked. This place was a real nightclub! It reminded me of being in a movie or something. It was an exciting energy right from the start. Good people at the door and a good mix of people inside. The place got packed by midnight, and we danced until 4am. I went back the next night and got to see some live bands play in the humongous main room. It was awesome - like Irving Plaza but way better lights and more of a party atmosphere. Anytime you're looking for something to do at night, this place seems like a sure thing. I'm officially declaring myself a Santos girl. You'll catch me there any night I can get my booty shaking! :)

Cons: Sometimes long lines

I went to a recent show of Andrew?s and emailed him afterwards saying we had a great time through the email correspondence I discovered Santos? was open. A friend and I decided to have a joint birthday there. The event planner was very helpful and informative answering all of our questions. We sent over our guest list on Friday for the party on Saturday night. It was free before 11 and just a $5 cover for the DJ's after with no dress code.

None of our guests had any difficulty in getting in; the staff was very relaxed except for a no photography rule, which was in place to retain the atmosphere I was told, but still a bit annoying. The space is wide open room with 2 small seating areas and a moderate sized bar. It smelled a bit like paint still only being open for a week or so. The sound system was as advertised sounded very good and the music was dance/electronic and a good time.

Drinks are in the $8 neighborhood, expensive but not bad when compared to any other club venues in the city with live DJs. The crowd was thin up to around 12-1am then it started filling in. Andrew showed up later on as well and hung out in the DJ booth. We went to say hello he was very cool and gave us some free drink tickets.

All in all, very cool new space without the pretentious velvet rope self importance garbage that every new place is rife with, and a very fun night.
