Love the Sorrento Hotel Bar and Fireside Room. Came here for a party, and was blown away by the beauty of the hotel. Great setup for mingling and walking around.\r
\r
I noticed they had a book about the history of the Sorrento Hotel and as I was flipping through it, it talked about the fabulous view from the bar. so I asked the staff if there was a bar/restaurant upstairs as well. They explained that the bar and dining room used to be upstairs (and it sounds like an amazing view) but that because of the fire code they had to move the kitchen to the main floor. Wished I could have been here during the time when the bar had a view, but it's still gorgeous!

I read an article in seattle magazine featuring up and coming places in seattle. The fireside Room in the Hilton was listed. First off this place has been here for quite some time and cudos to them for trying to change the image by adding a happy hour to get a younger crowd in. Secondly if you want to have people come in for a happy hour perhaps it would be best if you had specific menus for the occasion. As we were seated there were no indication as to wether or not there even was one so we asked. The Hostess confirmed and handed us two bar menus. The menu didn't even have the happy hour prices listed so we initially thought this was going to be the most expensive happy hour we've seen. But when we got the check everything was basically half off. But it would have been nice to know the prices before hand. Plus the portion were really off some were far too small while others were absolutely huge. It made me feel like things were unpredictable and not in a good way. And like the Header states... this place is more for my parents. There were only about five other people around and they were all MUCH older and talking about the latest trend at the knitting club. All in all the furishings are nice and I would maybe stop by again when there's snow on the ground for a nice winter cocktail. But maybe if you want to change your image... start with the basics and get new menus.

We recently had our wedding and reception at the Sorrento Hotel. We felt it would be the perfect venue for a winter wedding - and it was. However, the management at the Sorrento was terrible. From the beginning, they failed to communicate with us, not returning e-mails or phone calls. As our date approached, we had to literally barge our way in to see the space so we could get measurements for our florist because the management did not respond to us. We were not able to do a tasting until mere weeks before the wedding (and the food was not exceptional). We also faced what appeared to be either dishonesty or utter incompetence. There was a surprise fee for the ""toast"" that we had to fight about, we were double-billed for rooms guests had pre-paid for through the internet, and guests were told they had to pay for parking, even though we had pre-arranged for their valet parking. The management also told us our wedding decorations would be kept in a particular place, and when it was time to decorate, they weren't where the hotel said they'd be! Our family spent 30 frantic minutes trying to find someone from the hotel to help locate the decorations. Additionally, a family member had to go back into the kitchen to insure they saved our anniversary cake layer because the servers appeared uncertain when he asked them what they planned to do with it. Surprise, surprise; the next morning it was not in the refrigerator where he had placed it! It appeared that the hotel would never have remembered it nor found it again. They only looked for it after we put up yet another fight - and it took them at least 15 minutes to find it! The management also did not help us in any way with decorating or even directing the wedding procession. In short, they did absolutely nothing and the management of our wedding was totally deplorable. (We would add, however, that the concierge and front desk service was very good.) We would not recommend the Sorrento Hotel as a wedding venue.

I find myself in a different bed every other night due to the amount of traveling I do for work. I just recently stayed at The Sorrento Hotel for the first time, not really by choice, but because my regular hotel was sold-out. Its funny how things work out, I normally would not have considered staying at The Sorrento Hotel, but now that I have stayed there it is now my home away from home when I?m in Seattle on business. The staff helped me to feel right at home, the complimentary town car would take me any where I needed to go....It was perfect!!!!!!

Wonderful boutique hotel. Upscale accomodations, the beds are pillotop with lots of pillows. French press for your morning coffee and desk includes a printer in your room. Our meeting was held in a grand room with great light from outside. The hotel staff is comendable and very customer oriented. Gym is adequate with machines. The only negative is the distance from the waterfront (not walkable).

Pros: Luxury

Very attentive staff. Helpful without being intrusive. Suites are very well appointed and comfortable. For breakfast be sure to go to The Hunt Club and try the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict or Belgian Style Malted Waffle. Both are prepared to perfection. Also, be sure to visit the romantic Fireside Room with their wonderful pianist Cara Hill. Can't say enough about our stay at The Sorrento. Definitely will return.

I love the Sorrento Hotel. It is fun to be down in Seattle and stay at this old hotel. It is beautifully remodeled and has a great atmosphere. Parking is a bit pricey.

This property made me think of European hotels. The rooms were not of a size I would expect for the price paid. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and there are fine linens. Bathrooms are small. I found the service spotty, rather than exceptional. I would not stay here again, or recommend it instead of other great hotels in Seattle where you pay much less.

This is a cute but also historic hotel in Seattle. The rates here are pretty expensive and go over $200 a day. The staff here are wonderful. The room we stayed in was somewhat small but comfortable. We also had a great view of downtown. Overall, this is a great hotel.

I am hosting my wedding here in December. I have been planning for about a year and it has been a great experience. I have been to the hotel on several occasions. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is always friendly (everyone from the valet to the front desk to the waitstaff in the bar), and the hotel itself is gorgeous. It is not in the heart of downtown (as far as walking distance from most sights) but the hotel provides complimentary towncar service for all guests. As far as special events are concerned they have taken great care of us. The Top of the Town and Penthouse Suite (where my wedding will be held) has a beautiful view of the skyline. The coordinator has gone above and beyond to make sure my event is just what I imagined it would be. I am truly pleased and would recommend the hotel to anyone!

The Sorrento Hotel is the best kept secret for Hotels in Seattle. It is rich in it's attention to detail. There is not a season that is better represented than the winter time. The dark rich woods of the lobby and Hunt club gives a warmth of days gone by. The check in is superb with the wait staff at your service.

God bless the fact that Sorrento has only one elevator! What a symbol of style and patience. I met people just like myself - delibrate and satisfied. The rooms are so comfortable, and they appear larger than they are.

Take your time . . . . . . .

Enjoy the ambiance . . . . . . .

If you've never been to this Seattle gem, you are missing out on our of Seattle's historic hotels. Walking into the lobby is breathtaking. From the fountain out front to the rooms, you are in for a real treat when you stay here. Great service, friendly staff and worth every penny. Even if you just stop by for cocktails in the bar, you'll remember your visit to the Sorrento. Check it out during Christmas, they do up the lobby and bar so well that I make it a tradition to go every year now.

PROS: One of a kind!
CONS: A little pricey

If you got the money, and you want to spend a special weekend, or maybe it's your anniversary I recommend The Sorrento. My fiance took us here for a weekend getaway. We had towncar service, breakfast in bed, and we stayed in just about the coolest looking room I'd ever been in. Okay, so it's a bit pricy, but when you stay at The Sorrento you definitely get what you pay for. We'll be back, same time, next year.

To me, the Sorrento is pure elegance. It's an old hotel located in Seattle's First Hill area with so much class. Really, Seattle is not all that old of a city and cultural landmarks like this aren't so easy to come across. The restaurant at the hotel is also very good, and maintains a normal local clientele in addition to the tourists who stay at the hotel. Try the smoked salmon eggs benedict!

This is one of Seattle's oldest and finest hotels! The prices are very high, but it really is very nice for a special occasion. Honeymooons, weddings, Valentine's Day, or special anniversaries would be perfect. It is really beautifully and tastefully decorated. The rooms are a little small, but great. The sheets are 400 thread count, so it is one of the best night sleeps I've ever had! If you can't afford to stay here, consider a night in the bar with dinner or appetizers and drinks. They also serve English-style high tea from 3-5pm and I've been dying to try that. Everything is done with the customer in mind. They will take care of you in this historic urban retreat.

We utilized the Sorrento during our wedding, booking blocks of rooms for our guests as well as staying there ourselves on our wedding night.

The Sorrento was fabulous. The service and attention to detail is near perfection. We, and the rest of our guests, felt like royalty during our stay.

The setting is spectacular, the rooms are lush and beautiful, and the bedding - I've never slept so well! (and the night before my wedding I might add!)

All in all, this was a fabulous experience. I will stay there again even though I live in the Seattle area - just for the ambiance.

A very nice place to stay. Perhaps we expected a bit to much from the reviews below. Like the staff to remember our names and such, but overall the stay was quite nice. Our room was cozy and plesantly appointed. The staff overall very quiet and non-intrusive. We appreciated the towncar, vallet parking, and the dark, quiet retreat of our snug bed in a bustling city. I would go their again and recomend it to about anybody.

My husband and I stayed at the Sorrento for our wedding anniversary. The staff was wonderful, our suite was just nice and the food was scrumptious. But I had the worst night sleep of my life! I don't know if all of their money went into the rest of the hotel and they didn't have anything left for comfortable beds, but the pillows and the mattress were a nightmare, literally. However, we did thoroughly enjoy tea in front of the fireplace. The concierge graciously assisted us by coordinating with the restaurant's limosine service which was a big help. We were also delighted with our breakfast from the Hunt Club Restaurant.

I have enjoyed the Salish,Bellevue Club Hotel for nights of celebration, this year I choose the Sorrento and will Always spend any special nite there again! The attention by each staff member, from concierge to reservations (Bob Strecker-he makes you feel like royalty) to the fantastic, luxurious suites (Carnegie). It was a night I will never forget-unmatched quality in room and staff.
Everyone at the hotel knew I had a birthday, they all asked about it, even the next day when I checked out, the person that took my luggage down asked and also asked how I enjoyed the Husky game. If felt like a princess, thanks to the Sorrento!

This hotel is of impeccable beauty from an early 1900's era. My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon in mid October 2001. The hotel was perfect, quaint, beautiful, and had history that the concierge was more than willing to share. The staff was always friendly, and knew how to treat the guests well. The room we stayed in was beautifully decorated as if stepping back in time to a day of he early 1900's where the wealthy would stay when passing through town. The concierge was more than willing to give us a tour of the upstairs ballroom, and penthouse. The hotel even has a 'red lady' ghost who roams the 3rd floor.
I would highly recommend the Sorrento for those looking for a gorgeous, quaint hotel, with rich culture. I don't think the Sorrento's beauty can be matched.
The food was definatley 4 star!!!
