I wish this place was open all day.

We came in hungry. We left the same way. Service was so slow the food had actually become cold before served. Bacon only partially cooked, pancakes burned. Eggs nearly raw. As the Mrs. likes to say, if we wanted to eat badly cooked food, we'd stay home and save ourselves the trouble. Avoid this place, and save yourselves some trouble, too.

Pros: Um...it's only open a few hours a day?

Cons: Too many to mention -- bad food/service/attitude...

I've been privileged to dine at the Original Pancake House (which our family affectionally nicknames "O-HOP") since the 1970s--first in Anaheim, and later when a restaurant opened up in Yorba Linda (hooray!). Oh, that apple pancake--the equivalent of 2-3 "normal" sized breakfasts, and with all the decadence of a sweet treat--apples, butter, cinnamon, and a wonderful dough--cooked in a skillet. Just thinking of it makes my salivary glands work overtime!

I agree with the previous review that the servers and the owner are down right rude. We have gone the new one that opened in Orange, CA and all of the servers are nice, with wonderful personalities and they will serve people that come in up to 2:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. on weekends. The food even taste better that the Yorba Linda Store. I spoke with the owner and he stated that they use the best ingredients available and does not look for lower quality items so he can save money. The atmosphere is wonderful and open not crowed like YL or Anaheim. We prefer this location over the others in the area because it is cleaner and quality of food is 10x better. Will never go back to YL as those people are rude!

Geeze..grow up people..how can you dis this restaurant. Granted it's a busy place and can be hectic esp. on the weekends, but the food is divine and in 10+ years have never had a rude waitress (hurried is not a bad attitude - just a fact of life in a busy restaurant)
And any idiot that comes in at 10 min before closing time - deserves to be turned away - this is not fast food afterall. If you love pancakes give this place a try - you will not be dissapointed (unless Harold shows up)

Food is pretty good; atmosphere is crowded, noisy, and hectic. Attitude of staff is at best cordial, at worst downright arrogant and snotty.

Don't believe their stated closing time of 2:00 pm that is boldly painted on the front window and on the Original Pancake House website.

IT'S AN ABSOLUTE LIE.

Basically they close at 1:45 ("so the staff can leave on time"). They justify this by saying that they will still serve those inside until 2:00, but just won't allow anyone else in after quarter-till.

Of course this makes no sense whatsoever. One could arrive at 1:59 and order immediately. Someone else could arrive at 1:44 (not really - see below), and take 25 min to select from the menu. It's just their arbitrary position and if you don't like it, too bad.

Unfortunately, even with the unstated 1:45 stricture, they play games. My wife and I traveled over ten miles to go there this morning. We got caught in bit of traffic but were happy to be there prior to the unstated deadline. Hit the door at 1:43 (my watch is exactly accurate and matches both local phone company time and local new radio), whereupon were greeted with the 'closed" sign in place. Opened door and were rudely told they were closed. I pointed out that it was not yet 1:45, and (again rudely) was informed that it was according to their clock, so I was out of luck.

So, even per their own rule, they cheat. What time would actually gain you admission to the sacred venue? Who knows, could it be 1:35? 1:30? What's the REAL closing time? I certainly wouldn't dare 1:40 now, seeing as how their notion of time is more than a little arbitrary.

I wouldn't presume to tell someone how to run their business, but as a customer, I can ask a business to be HONEST with me regarding their hours of operation, and perhaps show just the tinniest iota of respect for the effort I go to to give them my business. If anyone who arrives at 1:45 or after (or 1:43, 1:40...etc.) will not be served, JUST SAY SO. Stop the pretense and deception. To come up with some lame rationale justifying this, and then absolutely refuse to acknowledge the deception of the stated hours is ludicrous. And, if your pick a "no further admission" time, then be honest and stick to that time; don't play games even with that number. (Sigh)

The attitude really has to go.

We've given them several tries. We won't be giving them our business again. They don't deserve it.

This is the place for breakfast! If you like pancakes you need to check this place out. They have varieties of pancakes from around the world. The swedish pancakes are incredible. The prices are good and you'll get something you won't find anywhere else. It's very popular and sometimes you'll find a long wait.

PROS: Great breakfast,
CONS: they're only open till 2 and there is often a wait

This is absolutely the best for those who love breakfast - a big one! An apple pancake is a must with it's crisp edges and gooey inside (almost like an apple pie but better) and is probably the most commonly. The variety of pancakes is just the beginning, they also have traditional breakfast items such as eggs, cereal, etc. that are just as good as the pancakes. Service is efficient, not friendly. If you do decide to try this restaurant, make sure you get there a little early on the weekend as it gets quite crowded by 10:00 a.m. and they are only open until about 2:00 p.m. for you late risers.
