A visit to Reed's Books is a bit like taking a trip in a way back machine without knowing exactly where you'll land. It's evident the owner has a love of vintage books and books in general- if you're looking for something off the beaten path or out of print you should start here. The gentleman behind the counter was pleased to answer my questions on my last visit and was willing to place an order with another bookstore should that be what I required. If you're a bibliophile (like myself) come some afternoon when you have a free couple of hours and wander through the shelves. I guarantee you;ll find something to surprise and delight.

Reed Books is, without a doubt, a very unique and fun used book store to browse. However, I would highly recommend against purchasing anything unless you have the money to spare. Other than the overpriced books, there are many odds and ends such as old magazines, movie posters, and memorabilia. You get the feeling that the whole place is like a yard sale you go to and see that everything is outrageously overpriced because the owner can't bear to part with his treasures. That's Reed in a nutshell. But, the ambiance and personality of the store itself make it worth the trip.

If I suddenly came into an amazingly large amount of money, this would be one of my first stops. But since that hasn't occurred yet, I don't see much of a use for this place. Now, if you've got a decent amount of cash to blow, you'll love the rooms full of the most interesting merchandise you've ever seen. I liken it to a very expensive but very great junk shop. A small list of the items includes used books, movie posters, decades old photos magazines and photos, toys, cardboard cutouts, metal signs, etc. But the prices on these products, no matter how great, are a little jacked up. You can try your hand with haggling, but good luck.
