I moved to Tucson from California, so I was worried about finding a place to eat that could compare. But when I found Mabuhay, I was elated. The food is wonderful and full of flavor. It is WAY CHEAPER than what I am used to. The owners are very nice and they serve halo-halo (not seen much even in California). They have everything that you need, groceries, food, movies, they send boxes and money to the PI and have fresh desserts made every Saturday (my favorite day to go). I am so glad that I found this store.

Pros: The taste

Cons: Not enough room

When I was a kid, my cousin got me hooked on b-rated Filipino films, and this place has a good selection of them.

But as far as food, there is enough there to make simple Filipino dishes (like lumpia!).

The prices are a tad bit higher here, but you'll be paying the same amount if you go to AJ's or Safeway. Or, if you have access to the base, they usually have a little more Filipino selection than your average grocery store.

Mabuhay Filipino Food Store is a mediocre place. The one thing I enjoy about this place is that you can rent Tagalog movies. They also have lechon kawale on Saturdays, which is yumm! The selection on the grocery side of the store is lacking. I wish they offered more items. Also, the price is a little high compared to their competition.
