This place has really come along way, I remember back in the day going to Monte Cristo it wasnt a pleasant atmoshpere to be involved in. Now with all the changes they have really turned this place around. Relocating was a GREAT idea.

I liked the club. The night started off a little slow but it picked up as the night went on. Everybody danced, there was no fighting, the music was good, the drinks were not watered down. I liked it because it was a bunch of people there who wanted to have fun and they didn't act stuck up like the people at the Hollywood lounges. I would go back.

Pros: The DJ was great, drinks were good

The newly remodeled The Monte Cristo is ever so lush and decadent. Supremely elegant with lots dark wood and of red velvet it makes you feel as though transported to another time. The Monte Cristo is the Sunday nite home to the gloriously Gothic 'Malediction Society'. My most favorite club ever in Los Angeles.

Look for a FAR more upscale crowd at the Monte Cristo on Saturday Nights starting in January as the Monte Cristo goes from Hip Hop to 80s with 'That Damn 80s Club'. DJ Miss L spins 80s New wave, Pop, Punk and and whatever other weirdness she can dig up from the days before mp3??s.

'That Damn 80s Club' promises wildly excessive and creative events and themed parties that will take clubbing to whole new level. I'm really looking forward to some of the upcoming events that sadly the promoter won't allow me to divulge at this time. All I can say is if he pulls them off - Saturday may supercede Sunday as my most favorite Club!

Gorgeous interior with medieval decor and a decent lounge area. The location is distasteful, but the owner has been sharp enough to keep the venue running. Good business sense...but the quality of the events there is questionable these days.

Okay I have been to this club a number of times and I probably wouldnt recommend this club unless you wanna hang out with gang members or you like hanging out with people that like to be loud and quite rude.

It is like $10 cover if you call the club like the day of and put your name on a "guest list" but you have to be there before 10 p.m. After 10 p.m you must pay a $20 cover. So after getting there and walking up like 15,000 stairs, you walk into a small dark club. They have an outside patio, which is okay but it seems just to be for those who smoke and we aint just talking cigarettes.

Drinks are so expensive just like every club, for a Goose and Cranberry expect to pay $15...even a bottle of water is $5.
The womens rest room is so so small!

never ever go to Monte Cristo, this place is terrible! It felt like i was at a high school party: people standing around and watching what everyone else is up to. Men are animals! You can't walk anywhere without a guy trying to harass you. People hype this place up too much on promos, its all a facade. Please stay the hell away from this TRASHY club! its not worth you time, effort , and definitely NOT your money!

Pros: EASY TO GET OUT OF

Cons: too many ugly people

I think it was somewhere to go last minute(which was why i was there). It just was kinda funky in there. Plus men act like when you got a$$ they need to grab it. Not in the least. They was like wild animals. Not something i want to go to for excitement but last minute purposes only. Sh!t maybe not even that. I would stay home first. The rails was all squeaky and people had the nerve to want to hold on and dance on them. Not my cup of tea!!

Wow!!!.... This place was amazing!!... A good friend recomended me going on Saturday nights for great drinks and great dancing (He went for an E40 concert and said it was jumping). The drinks were really strong and the bartender was really nice and mixed me different speciality cokctails. He told me that club just went through a huge revovation and its beautiful inside. Itas all plush velour and has tons of mirrors on the ceiling of the dance floor. The outside patio was huge and had really nice white cabanas and couches and tables in them. There was also an outside bar and I was told on Fridays there is a dj out there as well. We were able to go in the VIP room (which is gorgeaous with huge couches and and really interesting decor) and had great cocktail service. The night we went there was the Players Ball and there was tons of celebs like ICE T and some of the Jacksons (A guy friend also pointed out that he recognized some Play Mates there) . The music was great and theres a live broadcat from KDAY every week. We danced all night and had a great time.... also a big plus was the valet parking, which makes it really easy to park, since downtowns usually a nightmare for that. Defintley recomend this spot!!!!!!

This place was HORRIBLE!!!! for a lack of a better word. As soon as my girlfriend and i got out of the car, we knew for sure that this was a mistake. Old men and overweight women began to gawk at us as if WE were the ones with no sense! The staff was nonresponsive and perverted as well ( this one hispanic old man in his forties--i guess he was the bouncer or something--made a lewd comment on my friend when she asked him for directions and construed it to a metaphor involving sex--ewww!). As soon as you step in the club you see black and white trash prostitutes and their pimps EVERWHERE! My goodness gracious-- my girlfriends and I literally hurdled to a corner to try to dissapear from the scene cause discusting old men would ponder about wanting to dance. We refused to be a part of the freak fest. There was some weird phenomena going on in a back room which involved the same ol' pimps and coke dirty looking half way through their birthday suits women. Oh and pretty ladies beware when you step into the two stall closet they call a restroom cause apparently the night walkers recruit and will comment on how much "potential" you have to become one of them. This is one of those places that makes you want to run to a nearby catholic church to wash your whole body with holy water--you just feel dirty just being a part of the atmosphere.

OMFG...This place was just short of a hell. Every hoodrat, whor* and pimp was in this club. This club was brought to my attention by an employee of the Staples Center and I wish I could find him and beat the hell out of him. My friends and I were a little different caliber of people. They were in town from Chicago (ex-pro ball players) and I was totally embarassed to have taken them to such a scummy place. Pregnant women straddled across men shaking their a$$. Girls gettin their chee chees sucked on. Pimps with brown velour sweat suits (who still wears velour sweat suits). I was appauled. We arrived at 12:15, had a WHOLE LOT of drinks, enjoyed the DJ (the only good aspect of the club, and the drinks!!!) and got the hell out of the at 1:30. Saturday night at Monte Cristo = STAY THE HELL AT HOME (if you have any class).

I frequent thursday nights it's lesbian but a lot of guys show up too! The bikini burlesque show is f-$*g crazy hot so bring your dolla bills. I don't like that they are really lax on opening up at 10pm like their advertisement says but I do LUV the warm vibe once it get's crackin' it's a late crowd the club fills up around 11-ish but well worth it. The music is usually cool but the lady mc's voice always gives the overall vibe a nice warm welcoming feel. The security I've noticed can sometimes be a bit over bearing I think these guys forgot what "security" means but whatever THURSDAY are a definite GO to night at Monte Cristo! If you like hot and tempting shows with a cool vibe never too crowded but most of the time just right I would strongly suggest trying out this event taking place every Thursday!

A couple of friends and I went there on a Saturday around 10ish, wasnt that crowded until like 11:30. Great music, every song was definitely on piont, mainly hip-hop. Even the people, guys and girls, were pleasant, but I guess everyone is like that after a few drinks. Would definitely check it out again in the near future

When I get sick of the Hollywood scene and don't want to make the trek out to Santa Monica, this is a cool place to go for a chill night out. The ambience is unique, for lack of a better word. After a trek up 3 flights of stairs, and a stroll along a red carpet admidst rooftop air conditioning units, you reach the club, which has lush velvet couches and drapes, high-backed booths, all surounding a sunken dancefloor surrounded by railings. There are always a few B-Boys and girls doing some breakdancing, which is always fun to watch. Skip the valet and park at the free meters, and drink beforehand to save on expensive drinks. All in all a fun place.

This place is garbage! The venue looks very run down. Cheesy old guys hang out and tell you they own the place, the sound system is weak. I do not recommend going to this Downtown LA piece of trash...
