Doctor Kubicka and office:

On May 19 we took our beloved pug, Butter, to your office to be euthanized humanely. Butter
was administered an intramuscular injection to relax her and help her fall asleep. We were told
that the vet would be back in 10 minutes to provide the second injection that would stop
Butters heart. Approx 1-2 minutes after receiving the injection, Butter went into severe
respiratory distress. The injection of the standatrd dose of Telazol induced agonal breathing
which caused undue suffering. My husband then had to go to the front desk to summon the
vet back .
Seeing that Butter was in severe distress, the vet then proceeded to check her for
responsiveness, instead of immediately putting her out of her misery.
Any experienced vet should know an elderly dying pug ( short nosed breed) can have respiratory problems from the sedative, and he should not have left the room even for a second. She was definitely failing when we brought her in, but she was having no difficulty until the sedative was administered.

He then gave his tech permission to give Butter the IV injection. Butter was in severe resp
distress for 5 minutes or longer. I am a hospice nurse and know very well the difference
between a peaceful death and an anguished death. I have had other pets euthanized with
care and great consideration. We expected a humane, peaceful, painless death for
Butter. We trusted that this would be provided. It is excruciatingly painful to have to
euthanize a dearly loved friend, and to witness unnecessary and extreme suffering is
beyond hellish.

I highly recommend 4 Corners. The doctors are professional and caring. I've been to different local veterinarians hospitals over the last ten years, and this is my favorite place. The doctors and vet nurses have been so good to my pets. They have treated all my dogs when they were ill, and nursed them back to health. Dr. Becker and Dr. Kubika are wonderful people. They have the knowledge and experience in treating animals. I trust them with my animals. Their practice is clean, the staff is friendly, and they're reasonably priced for excellent quality care. I wouldn't go any where else.

Oh right, Dr. Ivey. My experience with her: I have a 17 year old cat, seemed to be having trouble, I called in morning to see if they had time to see her, they said they did and to bring her over. Turned out it was a significant wait for cat to get seen. I said OK I understand, I live a 3 minute drive from office can you please call me as you get near time to see her - it's a lot less stressful for her to wait with me at home than in cage at vets office. Dr Ivey argued for a full five minutes with ridiculous excuses as to why this could not be done. I asked well don't you do things like wash your hands between appointments or go to the bathroom? She finally agreed, then said FIVE MINUTES. No worries, I'll be here in 3 when called. They called, I was there in 5. So, after I got there, still a wait but at least the 17 year old cat didnt' have to be freaked out being in cage in room with strange animals and noices. So, after appointment, Dr. Ivey said to to never call again and expect to be seen on the same day. Ok whatever, I thanked her and said I appreciated her seeing my cat, Dr. Ivey then said well she needed to be seen it was serious. huh?? What a whack-o,

I had the most bizarre experience with them. I've had my cat with them for an ongoing nail infection which hasn't been doing too well and I was trying to get a refill called into the pharmacist for the antibiotic. Apparently I called too late in the day for one of the vets to get the prescription refill to the pharmacist. They didn't tell me they never got it in. I went to the pharmacist the next day to get it filled but it wasn't there. I called Four Corners and asked if it was sent - they assured me it had been. So, that night I tried again to pick it up but no they hadn't received the order. I called that night, left a message on their voicemail asking what's up, etc. No one called me back the next day but I thought that well I'm sure they sent it in. Same thing again with the pharmacist - no med order. I called AGAIN left a message - apologizing that I couldn't call during the day to address the prescription issue (per the outgoing vm message) but would someone call me back and let me know the order is in. No one called me back. So that night I called AGAIN, this time irritated, asking if SOMEONE wojuld call me and al least acknowledge my call. Next day nothing. It was ridiculous. I called the pharmacist and they said that they would contact the vet on my behalf and get the med order for me. I really appreciated that. I talked to the vet clinic later that day, got Dr Kubecka on the phone and I was told that my tone in the message was not appreciated and to "keep that in mind" when I talk to the staff. I almost burst out laughing. I asked him how does he respond to the fact that it took them 3 days to get the order in, and finally only because the pharmacy contacted them did it get taken care of. Apparently he wasn't told this part. The thing is, I spoke to a staff member before I talked to him and she apologized about the order, which I thought was very nice, said they'd gotten the fax number wrong and told me that the pharmacy contacted them to get it straightened out. If he'd just let things be it would have been fine, but he had to stir things up, didn't want to admit wrongdoing and when presented with some ridiculous facts still had to have his back up over it rather than just say ok mistakes happen, sorry about that.

I have been using these folks for almost 8 years. Both Terry Kubicka and Laura Becker have treated my chronically ill pooch. In particular Dr. Becker's compassion has been remarkable and if it were not for her, my dog would have been put down a year ago. She has gone above and beyond in the treatment of my dog's Addison's disease since the beginning.
My pet has been living a normal and active life as a result of the care received. They may not be the most inexpensive shop in town but when it comes to your companion and friend, does that REALLY matter.

Our dog died 3 weeks ago, she was sick with a tumor around the heart, not operable, so we had to put her down. We are so greatful to the wonderful care Dr. Kubicka & staff gave to us for the 12 years she lived. She was the most beautiful German Sherphard Lab mix you ever have seen. We brought into our home about one year ago, a small yorkie poo, and snuggles, taught her everything, not to go on the grass, where to go potty, and everytime she had the ball, and the new dog wanted it, snuggles gave it to her. There will never be another. But I can tell you, that due to the outstanding care of Four Corners staff and doctors, we were able to have our ENTIRE family there to say goodbye. My children work further away, but after we were able to confirm that there was no hope, (lucky, that very day we took her in, their was a radialogist who found the problem, then we were able to get her into an oncologist that same day after much pleading.
They were able to drain the sac around the heart, so she was feeling better, enough for her to give everyone in the family kisses before she died.

I am so grateful to everyone at Four Corners, PLEASE anyone who complains, I question their judgment, because, I have know the veterian for 12 years. I would have no one else.

I am devastated! (can't spell) never will get over it- but so glad we had so many wonderful years and times together. I just now worry, about the Yorkie Poo, who is also mourning.

Please take note, Four Corners, gives the best care, and correct diagnosis their is in the Bay Area.
Dr. Ivy, was sensitive and lovingi also, during the time of letting her go. Take care everyone, and if you have your pet close by, give her/him a big hug and kiss for me.

Great Sadness,

Happy days! My experience with Four Corners has been totally opposite to the above. I moved to this area many years ago and tried several Vets and finally found one I trusted, Four Corners. My pets just love Dr. Kubicka and staff as I do.

These guys seem to want to run every test in the book every time I'm there. These tests are expensive and seem unnecessary, i took my dog in for a small laser eye surgery and on the estimate they also included a teeth cleaning for $127...i didnt ask not did i want this.

I liked the folks who worked there and they seem to know there stuff, but every time I'm there i cant help but think they are trying to get one over on me.

With all due respect to V.R., I strenuously disagree. I have taken my dogs to Four Corners, and specifically Dr. Kubicka, for the past 6 years and have been consistently impressed with his compassion, gentleness, professionalism and good humor. He has treated two of my three dogs for significant, life-threatening issues requiring multiple visits and both received outstanding care. Although not inexpensive, the quality of service and degree of concern displayed by everyone at Four Corners has been impeccable and I highly recommend Dr. Kubicka in particular.

Run like a dog as fast as you can away from this place. Dr. Kubicka is nothing more then an used car salesman. He'll tell you what you want to hear, charge you top dollar, and send you home with a lemon. In my case the lemon was my sick dog, who was no better off then he was when I brought him in. After I was charged $400 and was told my dog could have a life threatening illness, Dr. Kubicka sent us our way promising a phone call AS SOON as he had lab results back. The following day I called 3 times, starting at 12 noon, each time telling the receptionist my dog had not drank or eaten anything since he was seen 24 hours ago in addition to his persisting undiagnosed illness. Each time I was told "Your test results are in and I will have the Dr. call you". I never received a phone call back until 6:00 p.m. The last time I called I was told maybe I should take my dog to the emergency!!! Now this is 30 hours after my dog had been seen, approximately 8 hours after his test results came back(which never received a phone call about), and 6 hours after I informed them my dog had not drank or eaten. PLEASE, PLEASE if you have a pet and are concerned about their health DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!!!! Dr. Kubicka is only in the business to make money. I wish I would have done some research when looking for a vet, don't make the same mistake I did. Find someone that actually cares for and about animals.

I have two dogs, one who is just petrified of the vet but he is fine at four corners. I was taking them somewhere else (I wont mention the name) and I was just not happy. I had talked to a lot of people about there vet's and Four Corners seemed to be the best choice. I am so happy with the Doctors and staff, they explain everything to you! If you have a question about why your dog has to have a shot or take a pill they will go in depth with you about why and exactly how the medicine will work. The customer service is exceptional also, the receptionists and vet techs are so willing to help you in person or over the phone. I would recommend them to anyone, and I often do. If you are at all unhappy with your vet try Four Corners, you wont be disappointed.

I have been a client at Four Corners Veterinary Hospital for a very long time now and I would never consider another hospital. I am not one to normally comment or review places but when I saw the last post, I had to voice my experience.

This hospital has been nothing but wonderful to me since I have been here and I am not the only one who feels this way. FCVH was recommended to me on several different occasions by a bunch of different people, so I finally decided to check it out. From the moment I stepped through the door, I have had the best service I could ask for. They genuinely care about my pet's well-being as well as my own!

As for the comments listed here, I cannot believe people would complain that the doctor wants to try every possible test! I am glad they offer everything!! I mean if it were really your "baby" wouldn't you want to do anything possible to find the problem?? AND if you don't want to do all the tests, simply say no thank you. They are not going to force you to run them if you really don't want to.

As for fitting people in for appointments, I have never had a problem getting in. I mean think about it. If they see every person that calls in, then who is going to have time to see my pet and is the care going to be good if they are seeing way more animals than there is time for?? When people complain they wait to long, I think that is ridiculous too! How long do you wait to see your own doctor??

As far as pricing goes, all I have to say is try and find another place that offers great care at a lower price. My friends have gone to other great hospitals but their prices are way higher!

In conclusion, this hospital is wonderful all around at what they do. I would not trade places for anything. I mean, my animals are like my children. If I am getting exceptional care, I'm not going to shop around to try and find another hospital that is cheaper to care for my kids, why would I do it for my animal.

I wondered if it was a California thing - everything being more costly here than where I'm from - but while I haven't yet found charges for things I didn't get (hmmm...guess I'd better start looking more carefully), I do feel they want to do every test/procedure possible every time (and they charge for every bit) and I question the need. I certainly want my babies to have whatever they do need. However, over the past 25 years, I've had 15 pets - as many as 7 at one time, and including the two I have now - and they all lived to their late teens. Yet the vet I worked with in my home town didn't do every test/procedure under the sun every time; he did what he thought was the best thing given all the factors, and we went from there. Sometimes he was wrong, but not often.

Also, if you really needed to get your pet in, my former vet's office would try to squeeze you in, and if you were patient, you'd be seen. Not this office; I've tried, and I've been in the lobby waiting for my appointment and heard other people try - it's not just that they're always busy (find me a vet's office that isn't) they don't seem to even have it as a possibility. Maybe if it's a real emergency, (I have no way, thank goodness, of knowing) but seemingly not for anything less. If the idea here is that it keeps them on schedule, all I can say is, I seem to wait as long here for my scheduled appointment as I ever did at my old vet's office.

On the plus side, they do seem to be knowledgeable, and competent, and conscientious. I've met all the vets and have liked them all.The vets call you back, too, even after hours. I've been called to go over test results as late as 7:30pm, and I really appreciate that.

Overall, unless I hear of a really outstanding vet's office locally that charges less, I will probably stick with these folks.

Overall, unless I hear of a really outstanding vet's office locally that charges less, I will probably stick with these folks.

I have been taking my cats to Four Corners for Years!! I trust them to take good care of them, however I often feel that they are recommending unnecessary tests and procedures. I always find extra charges on my invoice, and that really makes me mad. They charge for Everything there!! If I knew of a less expensive, and reliable vet in my area I would definitely check them out.

This staff is incredible- the doctors, technicians, and receptionists are all knowledgeable, friendly, and work extremely well with each other. They stay up to date with the latest veterinary information and services, including laser surgery. I'm an industry insider, and I've never trusted a hospital more!
