I have been going to Jess at Cowboys and Angels for less than a year and I am extremely happy with the haircuts I receive. She does a great job. I have had my color done by Sarah and also was very pleased.

What can I say - Marie is a color god. I use a combination of tint, highlights and low-lights. My friend calls it 'high maintenance hair that looks low maintenance'. I consistently get complimented on how beautiful my 'natural' color is - even by total strangers. She creates a warm honey hue with just the right balance of light to rich-dark color ratio. Marie is so assured about her craft, she makes it look effortless. A big plus - she's the kind of person who's fun to talk to, but she also gets it when you want down time, so it's always a comfortable experience.

Marie is the best colorist in San Francisco; I have been going to her for 7 years and have followed her to another salon and back to C&A. I love my color, it is wonderful. I get my highlights and Marie adds a few low lights as needed or if I tell her I am in the mood for a darker color. I have received numerous compliments from everyone I encounter on my hair, and it always makes me feel great. The biggest compliment, for me, is that people don't realize I color my hair; Marie makes my hair look incredibly natural. I don't want a radical look, but dislike my hair color and Marie gives it just the right look every time.

My husband went to this salon because I recommended it to him..I heard about it through a friend. Anyways, he was very upset with his haircut and on top of that the stylist was extremely defensive when he told her he wasn't happy. The stylist Nicole not Krepps who is now on maternity leave did not have good customer service skills. I was upset that I sent my husband to this overly priced salon. Do not recommend.

If you had trouble at this salon like me, take a drive to Sacramento and get your hair done by Elon at Deeda Salon. So worth the drive! Best cut and color ever! Never been this happy with my hair!

Colorists are not knowledgable enough to create great color. If you see what the employees hair, you'll understand. The blonde's are hued with purple or green highlights and look extremely overprocessed. The cuts are not any better than what you get at a school. Most of the stylists are distracted and uninterested. The price you pay is outrageous, for hair that is below standard! Also, when they wash your hair, you can easily strain your neck in the sink area, and most of the assistants will burn your scalp with hot water and get you soaked. The entire experience is long and torturous. Thumbs Down for this place!

Beware. I went here for a haircut and ended up finding a $100 overcharge on my credit card statement. Hair cut was fine...if you go, pay with cash.

When I leave the salon I expect to look great! Don' t you? I n't that why you pay bucks? I expect to walk out and look HOT! NOT! How can I look worse leaving= frousy, frizzy, scalp burning and a psycho color reminescent of grayish, khaki, dishwasher swampy? Did I mention and in tears dropping $250 for a supercut chop and a mess made of my blondish straight short hair? Of course no tip. Before returning to work I had to wash my hair down with water. When your friends tell you "it's not that bad"....IT IS BAD! They are too embarassed to tell you. Did I mention I was referred to this haircolorist and stylist? OMG! The next day I sent a letter to the manager and received NO response via phone or letter. It's been 3 weeks of "house frouse hair" How'zat for service? Don't bother.

I was trying to decide between a few salons and finally settled on this one mostly because I like the name. It's a "nice" space (could use updating and more lights) and the stylists look funky, have edgy haircuts so you'd expect something along the same lines if you asked for it...not so. Maybe they get their haircuts at one of the other salons I was considering. (It wasn't just my haircut, I took note of the other clients too.) And the consultation they promote on their website? I believe that was a joke. Before I could even finish talking through what I wanted, the stylist actually cut me off. Overall... this place is just, eh. And watch out for the unprofessional receptionist- she'll rip you a new one if you ask questions she doesn't feel like answering.

I ama girl who is incredibly picky and am very sensitive concerning my haircuts and color. I have been getting my haircut here for about 1 1/2 years by Jean. Once i find someone good i become very loyal. Jean is an amazing stylist and colorist. She was always very sweet..even though i can be difficult. I would tell her what I wanted and she would give me that and more. I quickly learned she knew what looked good on me better than I did (but she is not pushy at all, she is very respectful of your boundaries and needs). I love the fact that they touch up bangs for free a few weeks after your haircut. The staff is absolutely wonderful! They are always friendly, upbeat and respectful...even if you have a million questions. and they give the best massages when they wash your hair! Its not the cheapest place...but it is worth it. I have gone to many other salons and here i never felt guilty about the price. I highly recommend Cowboy's and Angels to anyone and especially those of you who have been traumatized by bad haircut/color. I just moved from San Francisco and am seriously thinking about flying back to the city for a haircut! All the stylists are absolutely amazing, but because of my personal experience with Jean...she is the BEST!!!

Pros: Staff, skill, value, quality, relaxing, good magazines ...everything

Cons: Its SF so not much parking, but the Macy's parking lot is really close

Have always been told I have nice, thick hair. Mostly straight but can def. jut out at the wrong places. Have been rotating between chin/shoulder length bobs and longer, angled cuts my whole life. Typically not wanting to spend the cash on a recommended, upscale place and too hesitant to let the stylist at your typical salon go to work on my hair -- hence, stuck to safe. When I finally decided I was ready to spruce up the cut and let someone have some creative say over what should be done with my moppy hair, a friend recommended Cowboys and Angels. Didnt wait too long when I went i nfor my first appt. Friendly reception. Nice wash. Nothing too over the top, but comfortable in an urban-warehouse kinda way. Really, the one reason I now dish out over $100 to get my hair cut is bc my stylist, Cole, is just awesome. Shes totally personable and does such great work with my hair (dark, thick, straight, japanese/italian hair)... I feel Im never able to describe exactly what I want, or if it is even possible. But, just giving Cole the parameters of what I need/want (light on bottom, no hairdrying, etc), she is is always able to come up with a fitting and awesome cut. Definitely my fav hair stylist to date in pretty much every way!

Being a hairstylist, I am not an easy client to please. I always look forward to visiting David for my cut and Michael for my color. Besides the fact that they are both beautiful to look at, they both really understand the meaning of beautiful hair. They both know 100 percent how to make a woman feel beautiful and glamorous through receiving beautiful hair. I feel like they truly listen to what I want and always exceed my expectations. I highly recommend the both of them if you are looking to feel like your best about your hair. I also love the salon as well. The will treat you with the respect and comfort you deserve as a paying client. When you walk in the salon you are greated by people who care to see you, especially Oliver. He is so warm and professional. (Not to mention beautiful!) You have to go experience David and Michael, they are the best in San Francisco!

First and only experience: Stylist (Katie) was right on time for my color appointment (I hate waiting my turn at a salon, you make an appointment for a reason!). She listened to what I was looking for and gave me exactly that. Moved right into my hair cut with Rory who is absolutely adorable, stylish and down to earth at the same time. I walked away in 2 hours flat with a fab new color and the hipster hair-do I was looking for. Plus product & tip the total charge was $237 - but hey Im worth it right!?!?

I went to Cowboys and Angel's because my mother's customer at her deli recommended it to me. The first time I went, I was VERY impressed with the salon because it was high quality, but, the customer service was great. I got my hair colored, cut, and styled, and was very impressed with the job that was done. It was EXACTLY what I wanted, and even though I can find other salons with slightly cheaper prices, I don't mind paying a little extra because they always do a great job. I alway senjoy coming to this salon whenever I have time to go to the area, but, i would not recommend driving there because you can NEVER find a good parking place...Also, they tend to tow your car after arouhnd 3pm. So, I advice you to take a bus, or have someone drop you off.

I just had Emily do my hair fabulously for the 3rd time! I'm not specific about what I want, I just tell her to "do me" and she does a great job everytime! When I knew I wouldn't be able to see her for 2 months, she gave me a great full that, with roots, still looked very natural and unnoticeable. Emily is great to talk to, very fun, and obviously a midwestern type of girl. She's very open minded and easiy to relate to.

As for David: he makes me feel so special, he's a great converstaionalist and makes me look & feel beautiful. When I came in and said I wanted to cut 10 inches off, he tried to disuade me, he was more scared and hesitant than I was!

If you like something funky, even if it's not for your hair, just go to cowboys!

I finally found a stylist on the same wave length as me! This was by far the best haircut I have ever had. I am on month four an a half since my last cut and although I know it is a sin to wait that long to maintain my style, my hair still looks good. I am growing out my hair and have natural curl. Brandie was the first stylist to understand how to cut my hair to keep it low maintenance and high style. Most hairdressers have tried to give me cuts that require intricate styling techniques that I do not have the skill or patience to perform. She also does complimentary bang trims, is great at the neck rubs during the shampoo process and is really sweet and helpful! Thanks Cowboys and Angels, I am coming back next week!

I went to Cowboys and Angels for the first time over the week-end and got an absolutely fantastic hair cut from Nicole, who is just darling and so talented. The service from everyone at C&A was friendly and helpful. I felt right at home. I got the best shampoo treatment complete with a scalp and neck massage. It was Heaven.

I am so glad I found this awesome salon. I will definitely be back!

I read about this salon's latest colorist in Allure magazine and booked a consult. I thought he understood what I wanted and ended up back there 3 months later for my highlights. Maybe too much time had passed since the consult but, honestly, I left without being able to even see whether I'd had any highlights done and it is EXPENSIVE. No one noticed I'd had my my hair highlights done - boyfriend, co-workers, roomates, no one (I have dishwater blond hair and was looking to be brightened up). Totally disapointing, totally expensive, atmosphere of slaon is hectic and crazed on a Saturday so I hated being in there in terms of experience. Will never go back.

I have always had horrible experiences when it came to getting my hair cut. I was recommended to visit cowboys and angels and i had a wonderful experience there my first time! The receptionists were very helpful and friendly in helping me find the right stylist. I waited for about 10-15 minutes for my appointment but I didnt mind...I actually enjoyed browsing through all of the bumble&bumble products. my stylist David cut my hair exactly how i wanted it. He gave my long, fine, stick straight hair just enough movement and took his time to style it wonderfully! He was great! I recommend him to anyone. A cut with him is about $70 and tipping at cowboys&angels is not required but after your cut, trust me you'll tip

A couple of years ago a friend recommended this place to me. Always on the hunt for a stylist that could really work with my hair, I decided to give it a try. I set up an appointment with a stylist named Jeff shortly thereafter. He did an amazing job on my hair, and I have been going back to see him since.

The inside of the salon is very modern and hip. The staff is not pretentious (unlike some other high level salons I've been to), but they are all very cool and friendly.

Prices average around $70 or $80 (give or take some, depending on the stylist). You get shampooed (and Jeff gives a scalp massage during the shampoo), cut, and styled. The stylists are well trained, and keep up to date withthe latest fashions and techniques.

The store can be a little hard to find. It's located on Powell Street, almost right next to the Starbuck's. You'll have to look for a slightly recessed doorway next to Starbuck's. There's a sign outside of it that says "Cowboys and Angels." Don't despair if you walk down there and still don't see it at first. It took me a couple of passes before I finally noticed the door.

PROS: Well trained, knnowledgeable, and hip stylists. Scalp massages.
CONS: Can be a pain to find the first time.

I have curly hair and sadly have never seen ANY difference in an $80 or $10 cut. I went to Cowboys/Angels on their hair cheap model deal, afraid of their so-called "cool" atmosphere--But they're all so darn NICE!

Brandie's the one who cut my hair and it's the best hair cut I've EVER had; I'll be returning as her full-priced client. I don't feel this way with other salons, but at Cowboys & Angels, the high price is worth all the training (two years of apprenticing there). Brilliant.

Also, I was never pressured to buy products there. They just gave me lots of iced tea. They've won my loyalty with this first great, cheap haircut. Now I'll pay whatever they say... I even want to stop back in and buy some of those products after all!

I even want to stop back in and buy some of those products after all!

.

The BEST place to get highlights! I get compliments on my hair everyday! I couldn't be happier! If you want to experiment with your hair color, definitely come here. I've had the best experience here! Plus they sell the best products! Prices are not even that bad!

Not only did I get the best haircut of my life from Erika, but I also got a very unique coloring job from Corina. These two ladies are pure genius. I gave them full control over my head and they made me look like a different person. Best of all, when I attempted to recreate what they had done, I was very successful. Now all I hope is that I can maintain the look they so graciously bestowed upon me. Definitely check this place out if you are looking for a new loock

I have been going to cowboys and angels for a couple of years now. The staff is professional and inviting, the atmosphere is great, and Emily, is the best colorist I have ever had. The prices are reasonable for the exceptional service and wonderful results.
Jacob is the best stylist. I have a lot of hair, that is really thick, and most stylists I have seen don't know what they are doing. I would not go anywhere else.

This place was a wreck. My sister and I had both made appointments and she had to cancel hers. Instead they cancelled mine (our names don't even sound similar and our time slots were hours from each other)! I drove all the way out to the City and the stylist already booked someone in MY time slot. Being a professional salon, you would think that cancelling a person's (the correct person) appt. would not be difficult. Also the colorist I booked with never even called me back. The people were rude and I didn't appreciate the receptionist inferring that I had made the mistake. Overall don't go here it's not even worth your time.

Yet another self-proclaimed "hip" salon with a bloated reputation. Why is a man's haircut $75? Especially when it looks no different from a more reasonably priced haircut. It was not a "decadent" experience, as the owners would have you believe. Incredibly loud, incredibly average talent, incredibly impersonal staff, incredibly overpriced. These greedy people have dollar signs in their eyes - don't be a sucker.

My curly hair was BUTCHERED! I made an appointment and asked for the best stylist for curly hair. I walked in with beautiful layers I adored and walked out with a BOB!!! Now any girl with a curly head on her hair knows this is a sin!! Curly hair w/ only one layer equals mushroom head. How could a PROFESSIONAL hair dresser who charges $75 not realize this, and how do they interpret "I love my layers, pls just give me a trim". into "pls cut my hair into a bob because I really feel like looking like I am 10 years old" I'm not sure but ethnic hair beware, they are obviously skilled with only the anglo stick straight hair you see all the stylists wearing!!!!

I got a haircut from Michelle and it is seriously the best I've ever had!! She really listened to my ideas and then shared hers with me to come up with a really cute, flattering and original style unlike anything I could have come up with on my own. Honestly, it was a great experience and I will no longer let anyone else mess with my hair.

I have found the perfect stylist here at Cowboys and Angels. I have curly hair and have never been able to find a stylist that made me love my natural hair. Most hair stylists want me to straighten it or give me a cut that I can't maintain on a daily basis or worse, make it look like you never got your hair cut. Not anymore! We discussed what cuts would look great with my texture hair, what level of up-keep I can commit to, as well as what would suit the shape of my face! Most places ask you what you want and just do what they like. Look, just try it out, you'll love the new you and want to come back again.

I started seeing Takako years ago, and when she left for Japan I had to find a new place. Went to Hairplay, got one ok haircut and one awful one - I called C&A for a recommendation and they told me Takako was back! Yippee for me. She fixed my awful haircut and it looked wonderful. She always does a great job and is honest about what does or doesn't look good. When I wanted to dye my hair from black to a softer brown she recommended Corrina who is FAB! She was honest in telling me it's not good to bleach out the black, etc. and that the best way was to get highlights and work the black out. She spent three hours on my hair, for a reasonable price and it looked the best it's ever looked. Don't waste your time with any other salon - GO HERE!

...the razor. I've been going to Cowboys and Angels for about 1.5 years and every time I've gotten a hot cut. And I love all the B and B products she puts in my hair.

I had a really good cut with Erika, who was friendly and responsive to my requests. She listened really well and gave me the cut that I want, with the maintenance level that I want (that means LOW!) She suggested products but was not pushy, which I liked. Overall, nice salon, very pleasant ambiance and the receptionists were actually nice (maybe the snobby ones were on vacation? :P) The only snobs I saw were some of the customers, who needed to tone down "I'm too sexy for my haircut" quotient. It definitely isn't cheap, price is on par with most downtown salons but I'd go back for the cut.

I had color done here twice, two different color people, both times I was treated really badly my color was not good. To book a color appointment I was required to come in for a consultation. I was treated like I'm a freak - blame ME for not listening to my gut, I should not have gone back. I'm gray and want minimal upkeep - they suggested going dark! HELLO! Dark hair means that in 3 weeks I have bright gray roots ! They should have suggested going lighter, the difference would not be so vivid. I didn't appreciate the person tossing my head around like a toy when he was applying color! When you call to find out who specializes your unique hair type they automatically book you with who ever is the newest stylist, not the best person for your type of hair.

The hair modeling program is terrific -- I just got the most amazing full set of hilights for $25. My hair's never looked better. Emily rocks and I highly recommend her!

I've been seeing Tracey at Cowboys and Angels since they first opened shop, and was shocked to see some of the reviews left on their site. I have never once left the salon with a bad haircut or a bad experience. Every time I walk through the door I'm greeted with a warm smile and I honestly look forward to my visits. I was just in last week and with the fabulous new haircut Tracey gave me I feel 10 years younger! My husband still hasn't stopped telling me how great I look. Thank you Tracey!

One of the worst haircuts I've EVER gotten. I had to made an appt. at another place to "correct" the cut. And what's the point of having an appt. if they make you wait 30 minutes. I know appointments do run late but at least call your clients and let them know.

I'd rather get a root canal than go to a hair stylist that is bland or so so or been doing the same 10 cuts for the last 10 years. And once I find someone, I won't let go. David Tolles is THAT hair stylist for me. He is super talented -
