Yes, the atmosphere and cleanliness at Zulu Tattoo is first-rate, and the neighborhood is upscale if not fully swanky. But I would have been happy to go into a dark alley for my dragon tattoo if I knew the artist was sufficiently technically superb. My goal was to get a great tattoo, and to have my personal vision fulfilled, not some pretentious artists vision.

Well, I can assure you that Zulu is an absolute perfectionist. He is both an artistic visionary and a technically superb craftsman. I liked it that he didnt impose the former on the latter in my casehe gladly let me explain what I had in mind, and then, liking where I wanted to go, he fulfilled it for me with great enthusiasm.

My wife told me yesterday, Ive never heard you brag about anything.but you wont stop bragging about your dragon. I was looking at it under the jewelers loupe for the hundredth time as she said this. Even under magnification, I see every line is smooth, every angle exacting, and every surface perfectly filled-in. Ive shown this tribal dragon tattoo to about twenty people now, and even people who hate tattoos say Wow, if I were to get a tattoo, thats the way Id want it! Others who know tattoos say things like Yeah, you can tell that was done by somebody super high-end. Thats serious art you got there. And almost everyone agrees that it is the best tattoo of its kind that theyve ever seen.

Zulu the artist may be towering, but Zulu the man is soft spoken and modest. My concerns about Zulu being too Hollywood or boutique were completely unfounded: he is a down-to-Earth, warm and friendly man who is knowledgeable about almost everything and just a delight to chat with. My tattoo took about three hours, and every minute of that was filled with really interesting conversation. I felt like calling him the next day just to talk, but I figured the next person he was tattooing maybe wouldnt appreciate that!! But in addition to walking out of there with a great tattoo, you will walk out of there feeling like youve made a new friend and reassured that there are still cool people to be discovered in Los Angeles.

Zulu is not just another hip tattoo artist: he is a true scholar of tattooing and the history of tattoo. He has traveled the world studying different methods/meanings of tattooing, and the manner/technique in which tattoos are imposed in different cultures. He also has 25 years experience. If Zulu were to teach tattoo-related subjects at a University, he would be the Ivy-League instructor that everyone wanted.

Zulu was kind enough to go over and re-do an octopus I had previously had done which had faded. I could tell he was a little tired after doing my dragon, but he knew it was a long drive for me to go out there, and so he gladly went over the octopus while I was there. It looks great.

Both the dragon and the octopus look awesome a week later. The healing process was fastmuch faster than my octopus the first time through. And these things are BLACKthe organic ink that Zulu uses makes them just pop off my arms.

Khani, Zulus wife who handles scheduling and logistics, was a pleasure to deal with. The price was a bargain for what I got.

Parking was little tricky. The meter was fine for my consultation, but I used the valet for my actual session, and they close up between 3:00 and 5:00. Well, I came out at 3:15 and I couldnt get my car, so I had to keep busy for a while, which was a little inconvenient. I bet my car could have been retrieved if I knew where to go, but no one I asked was sure how to get it. So, I went and had a Panini at a nearby restaurant and behaved myself.

Bottom-line: this place is the best-of-the-best. My dragon is incredible, and the entire experience of getting it with Zulu was wonderful.

Erika is an exceptional artist who knows how to tune in to her clients on a spiritual and 'soul' level. Her work is impeccable. My piece on my arm is simply stunning.

This review is so overdue it's not even funny because I got my tattoo done last year! After some serious research I chose Zulu tattoo and I am so glad I did. Misha is beyond amazing. She worked with me in designing my concept, letting me know that I could do as far as color (I'm black so I didn't know if that was an option for me). She is so sweet, warm and friendly and of course an excellent artist and super fast. It took her only three hours to do my tattoo which went along my ribcage. The tattoo healed beautifully and I receive so many compliments. Even though technically this was my second tattoo I really consider it my first , true work of art. If you want a unique, personal, piece of excellence then get your work done at Zulu. Also I have to add everybody is so cool, inviting and friendly and happy, from Keleigh to Zulu to just everyone. The shop is clean, chill, relaxing and has a very positive spiritual energy throughout. I'm planning on getting another tattoo done by Misha (she doesn't know this yet lol!) which will be a cover up of that first tattoo and I can't wait to work and create, collaborate with her again. While it is pricey let me just say for the level of craftsmanship and artistry you will receive it is worth every single penny.

Zulu Tattoo is representative of global ideas, creative people & artistic expression. Zulu is talented, yes, but it's his spiritually-minded approach to giving you your sacred mark. It's a ritual, an induction into the tribe, but all done with love and laughter, stimulating conversation and coupled within a sacred space that truly exist for the people -- All People!

Zulu's shop is a welcoming and friendly environment. All of the staff is friendly and treat you as an individual, understanding that their work will have a permenant impact on your life.\r

Zulu himself is not only a brilliant and ntuitive artist, but a businessman of integrity.\r

I have had over 40 hours of tattoo work done from various artists at Zulu Tattoo, and I would recommend this studio to anyone getting a tattoo.

First and foremost, Adam Kilss is an amazing ARTIST and I would highly recommend his talent to anyone! His attention to detail with shading is next to none. That being said...this is my first tattoo so I was extremely picky with my choice of artists. After many visits to other studios, his work was the only work that screamed ART instead of tattoo. Because of this, I waited some time for his move to Zulu Tattoo.

He proved incredibly patient and understanding about all of my questions and concerns even the most trivial of inquiries. I truly appreciated Adam's ability to take my concept (which was pretty crude) and transform it into an eye-popping art piece. While I was extremely excited about the initial sketch I was given, it has no comparison to the final product that was placed on my back. During my session, he was friendly and professional. It seemed he recognized when I was feeling anxious or in pain and helped me through the rough patches of the session (which were few BTW) It made my first experience relaxing and comfortable. Again, I highly recommend Adam Kilss to anyone looking to get a tattoo.

Regarding Zulu tattoo, I felt very comfortable in the studio. The overall vibe of the place in calming and the music was peaceful. During my first 3.5 h in the chair, time seemed to progress quickly. The staff of Zulu was great as they answered many of my questions as well. Also had the opportunity to meet Kody (another tattoo artist) who proved welcoming and cool. Shop was extremely clean and meticulous.

Anyone interested in getting some artwork on their body should visit Zulu tattoo....ask for Adam :)

Second session is on the books and I cannot wait to complete my piece.

At 42 I decided I wanted to get my first tattoo and I did alot of research on places/artists/designs. I finally found inspiration from a New Zealand artist and took my ideas to Zulu tattoo. My first tattoo ended up being a full back piece that is just breathtaking. I love it and give kudos to Khani, Kelly, Kali, and Kosi as all played a vital role in why I chose to go to Zulu. It was an overall fun, artistic, spiritual experience to visit them and undergo my first inking. I was very receptive to their artistic ideas and recommendations and would highly recommend them. If I decide to get any more work done, I would look forward to going back!

This was a rite of passage for me, I had just published my first book and decided to make a commitment for life and as Misha says ""it's only forever, so make sure you like it.""

Misha was amazing, I brought her a concept and not only she realized it but took it to another level and I simply loved it. It was such a pleasure to spend hours with this woman, who made me laugh and made me completely comfortable. I love my tattoo. BTW I am in my 50s and this is my first tattoo.....

Being a great tattoo artist is a talent all it's own... Misha is not just a tattoo artist, she's a healer. What was once beneath...i'll never tell...and thanks to Misha...you'll never know. \r

I am no novice to tattoos. I have about 20% of my body covered in beautiful pieces, all done by two artists that I trust very highly. Neither of them are in LA, and when my beloved cat of 21 years passed away on my wedding night I knew I needed to honor him with the most important tattoo of my life. The problem....where to find the perfect artist to properly honor my little one?\r
\r
Upon seeing the History Channel piece on tattoo history, I was impressed by the Zulu Tattoo shop and wanted to check it out more. I had already met with four other artists who I knew immediately were not right for me, and had perused countless artist books. I emailed Catherine and she responded right away with her suggestion for my particular needs. I made the consult appointment with Lantz as per her suggestion.\r
\r
The shop is beautiful,VERY clean, but warm, none of that ""stark"" feel. Catherine is lovely and helpful and Lantz was right on time for our appointment. Two minutes with him and I knew he was the perfect person, just as it was suggested he would be. We discussed the piece and they went out of their way to fit me in before I left the country for a long business trip. \r
\r
It has been 12 years or so since my last piece, and I was admittedly a bit nervous. Lantz made me feel at ease and talked to me to keep me distracted through the toughest parts. He finished it in a very short time considering the great detail (did not milk the clock like some artists will) and the results? INCREDIBLE. The colors are so vibrant, the detail so beautiful, and he captured the essence of my little beast so perfectly it seems like he is a photograph. \r
\r
Needless to say, I am ecstatic with the whole experience, beginning to end. I even chatted a little with Mischa, who is really lovely, and got a sample of both hers and King Afa's work while i was there and was very impressed...If this is your first, or 21st piece, this is your place!

I was visiting LA from Canada and while I was there I wanted to get a tattoo and one of the more ""popular"" tattoo shops that is on TV right now. I called and emailed them twice and never heard a response and boy and I glad. I started researching tattoo shops in LA and found Zulu. After reading many reviews on this site an others I was very impressed so I thought I would give it a try, and after my first expeience I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I wrong. Zulu had to be the most organized, professional and comfortable tattoo shop. I was very impressed with the quick response from Catherine for booking the tattoo (within 24 hours of my initial email). I had a very origianl idea and was worried if it would come out looking like I wanted to. I had selected Lance to do the tattoo based on Zulu's website and looking at his work. Lance was awesome. We did the consultation via email before I got to LA. To be honest when he sent me the original sample of the tattoo I was a little worried because it was only an outline and didn't really show the detail (Lance explained it would happen in the filling in). I had a few small changes and when I got to my appointment Lance had taken them into consideration and we wer ready to go. Lance was awesome. He was so easy to talk to, it was like talking to a friend. The tattoo is amazing, better than I could have ever imagined. Everyone that has seen it has had nothing but good things to say about how awesome and life-like it looks (it is an orangu-tan). Thank You Thank You Thank You. I am so happy that other place didn't call me back because I got the best tattoo ever. If you are in LA and looking for somewher to go for a tattoo go to Zulu. You won't regret it. \r
And to Lance - go LA Kings (I'll be rooting for the Toronto Maple Leafs)!

Zulu Tattoo is so much more than just a tattoo shop. It is truly a place that celebrates community and the connection that exists between every single one of us. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the collective energy Zulu and his wife Khani were able to create and radiate outward, welcoming all walks of life in their sphere. I have spent many hours on the table, the result of which is an amazing back piece that reflects both a physical and spiritual manifestation of who and what I am. Zulu was able to channel and draw that out, both literally and figuratively, which is more than a testament to his mastered skill, incredible artistry and the depth of his spiritual being. The beauty of Zulu Tattoo is that every piece is given the same amount of attention and intuitiveness regardless of size, shape or color. Theirs is a family, a tribe, a communal consciousness that I feel tremendously grateful and lucky to have not only experienced but to forever be a part of.

I waited 10 years for my first tattoo and it was well worth the wait! Roni Zulu has completed all of the tattoos that I have (4 in all). Each one is special and has great meaning to me and anyone who knows me can look at them and see ""me"". I have a half sleeve that my husband designed and Roni took it up several notches :-) I receive lots of compliments on the shading work and when folks find out that the only outline is of the main piece while the remainder is shading they are amazed. I consider each tattoo that I have a piece of living art and my body happens to be the canvas. There are additions that I need to make to a couple of pieces as more spirit has come through each piece. Roni, I do need to make an appointment ;-) and thanks bunches!

Pros: best person

I have followed Misha throughout the last 6 years to a few different shops. Not only are her skills WAY above and beyond expectation, but Zulu is the most comfortable, professional and top of the line shop out there.

So, this is my first time writing a review and I do so hesitantly as I am selfish! lol I've been contemplating getting my fourth tattoo for the past few years. It was really important for me to find someone to sketch the design I had in my mind that would honor loved ones. I looked around online and stumbled upon Zulu Tattoo. I looked at all the artists on the site and liked Mishas work the best (she does GREAT floral designs!) I emailed her with questions, which she promptly answered. I had 2 consultations before I actually started the tattoo. I have one more session to go but I am totally in love with my tattoo and I totally have a ""Girl crush"" on Misha, she is AMAZING! She specializes in darker skin so that made me feel much more comfortable that my design would be good (I've been told I couldn't get color on my tattoos bc I am a medium skin toned black female at other shops! ) \r
I forget to get the Ointment that zulu sells and Khani was even kind enough to mail it to me free of charge! Once I get this tattoo finished I want to expand on one of my old ones....so hey... I take that back Zulu Tattoo is the worst don't go so there will be plenty of appointments for me! lol j/k These are a great set of people, FABULOUS & unpretentious ! They're on my Christmas card list this year! ; ) lol

After I moved to LA I search and searched for the right artist to take on a piece that I had drawn. I finally just went and had it done by a guy and I cannot even remember his name. I am very sensitive to energies of people and I found it very hard to be in a typical tattoo shop. \r
\r
Then I met Zulu, his wife and shortly there after, Lantz. I enjoyed their energy so much that I knew Zulu would be the right artist that would be able to bring to the surface my next tattoo! He is very insightful to this special piece! I loved that he said ""this is gonna be bitchin""! And it still is!!! \r
Zulu Tattoo has since grown and I've also branched out and had the pleasure of working with Lantz and Misha! The atmosphere is calming and very 'zen' like. The entire staff is very attentive and friendly! I find it very easy to go into a meditative state or chat with my artist while getting a tattoo because all of my needs are being met. They all work towards making sure the piece that I am getting is exactly what I want. They have never rushed me into getting a tattoo done before I'm ready.\r
\r
Thanks everyone!! I'll be back very soon!!!\r

I finally got my first tattoo with Sameerah. She's awesome! Really friendly and really comforting artist. She's really cool as a person and was pretty flexible with my change in decisions. Her work is very professional. She does not rush u into getting your tattoo, but rather make sure that u decide on something u really like. The whole process made me feel that my tattoo is very valuable! The atmosphere is very spa-like. It's not like one of those ""hardcore"" tattoo shops that make u doubt its hygiene and quality. Although it is pricy, it is worth it because a tattoo is permanent. I'd definitely recommend Zulu tattoo.

Honestly, this has to be the best most awesome place to get tatt'd in L.A., or anywhere else I've checked out. And the artists are professional and tuned in to your needs, as well as being remarkably talented. In a way, I hate to write such a glowing review cause then it will make it harder for me to schedule time with them. But they are AWESOME!!!

I live in Seattle where there are almost as many tattoo parlors as Starbucks'. And yet I return again and again to Zulu Tattoo to have work done by Lantz. Just last night customers at my restaurant pulled me over saying ""I love how your ink moves and flows around your arms"" and that is exactly what I'd told Lantz I wanted. Not only do they truly listen to what you want, but they deliver the goods. And great goods they are.

I just had a 5 hour piece done by Misha and it is amazing!! What i liked best about this place, aside from the friendly people and exceptional customer care and service, was the time they took to get to know you, plan, map and draw out your desired tattoo (by hand from scratch) and work with you to make sure your tattoo is absolutely perfect prior to getting it done in ink! People don't realize that a lot of people out there are very artistic and creative with thier personally inspired tat...you don't simiply walk into a shop and expect to get inked that day! It took me years to plan and draw out my tat exactly as i pictured it. Once i came into contact with Misha, which is THE BEST if you are looking for either japanese inspired art or animai, it took an additional 2 months to get my drawing perfect as far a the morphing, shading, 3-d, color, placement, etc. \r
\r
Once i sat down with Misha i knew she was the one. The tat session was amazing; easy, relaxing and most of all fun. Everyone in the shop is great, personable and friendly. Misha doesn't smoke, so you don't have to stop a million times for her to step out for a grit, she is steady handed, gentle and an exceptional judge of depth, color and content. Although a tat here might be a little more per hour than some places, it is not over the top and is well worth it. I don't make a lot of money or have a lot of money, but the quality and quantity (as far as time and effort to help draw and create and detail) is so well worth it and pays for itself a million times over....the last thing you want is something perminant on your body that you don't truly love. Her work hardly bleeds, the detail and colors are amazing, and i already get a million comments on how f*n amazing my tat is....which it is!!\r
\r
You can read every reveiw under every tat shop on this site, and you will end up back here....Zulu is the absolute best--stop pinching pennies and make an appointment!

When I decided to get full sleeves I knew that it would take a while to find the perfect artist to make my ideas a permanent part of me. I found Misha online and scheduled a consultation with her. I arrived at the shop and knew immediately that it was way different than any tattoo shop I'd ever been to (and I've been to quite a few!). The energy is relaxed and inviting, and everyone who works there is friendly and down to earth. FINALLY a shop without ego!!! When I showed Misha my reference material and shared with her my vision for the sleeve, she was so excited about it and I knew that I had found an incredible artist. My first sitting with Misha was so much fun! She took my ideas and created a piece that was so much better than I could have ever imagined! She was even able to keep me laughing throughout the entire 4 hours. I don't know how she did it, but she made me giggle uncontrollably while she was tattooing my elbow!!! Her work is amazing. I only have half of the outline done, but everywhere I go I get compliments on my tattoo. Her line work is clean and her attention to detail is impeccable! I am head over heels in love with my tattoo. I look at it constantly and I smile every time! THANK YOU MISHA, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!

Hands down! This is the ultimate in tattooing! My first Zulu piece was in '93...It is an experience for the mind, soul AND body. You don't have to be a celebrity to get exquisite work and stellar service. \r
\r
You will be receive a level of creativity that is unmatched in the industry. Zulu is surrounded by Awesome Artists' and the shop is a living, breathing organism. You can feel the energy and all of your senses will be pleasantly surprised. \r
\r
In addition, Zulu Tattoo believes in giving back. I proudly sport my Breast Cancer Ribbon on my ankle that I got at an event at Zulu Tattoo to support an organzation that assists in providing funds to patients who are in need of treament. Something I would've done any way, became a way to help someone else in the community. My Aunt and Sister, SURVIVORS, were very excited and proud.\r
\r
Treat yourself...it will be beyond anything you can envision.\r

I am extremely pleased with the work that Sameerah did for my tattoo. She created and improved my tattoo beyond my expectations. She has the personality, attitude, and pride of work to do work that is absolutely incredible. I was shocked at first at much difference she made but that was just the start. When she finished she created a masterpiece that I am so proud to display and brag to everyone. I let everyone who she is and what a quality person and artist she is. I will not have anyone else ever tattoo me!

A few years ago I met a man named Lantz at a party and noticed the beautiful art on his arms. He told me about a new shop he was opening with a friend, called Zulu Tattoo. I put his card away in my wallet for a long time. \r
I never knew I wanted a tattoo. As a painter, I have always loved the image of adorned skin. I do much of my creative work in my sleep and often dream the paintings I am going to create. I see myself working on them as I sleep. \r
Around my 45th birthday, I began to see myself in a dream, running through trees with the most beautiful tattoo on my back. It was a facinating as I didn't have a tattoo. I had the same dream frequently and began to look closely at the tattoo. I would sketch it when I woke. This was the mark I was supposed to have. I remebered the card in my wallet and called Zulu for an appointment.\r
Michael, my partner, had wanted a tattoo for a long time, so we went together. When we stepped into the lush, red rooms of Zulu Tattoo, we were transported. It was one of the most inviting, warm and beautiful art spaces we had been in. Zulu, Khani and Lantz greeted us warmly and welcomed us into their wonderful space. It was more living room, gallery and temple of body art than a salon or shop. \r
Zulu worked gently and passionately with us to create the art we wanted to see on ourselves. Over the next 8 months, Zulu crafted his beautiful work, sharing ideas, great conversation and his incredible talent with us to reveal the images on our bodies. Each visit was like a spiritual outing with dear friends. We were both delighted and saddened when the magnificent work was complete. \r
We knew we wouldn't see our artist and friend as often as we once had. We would miss the company of his wife and the wonderful space. \r
The experience at Zulu tattoo was so much more than getting a tattoo, it was an awakening and life changing experience. \r
\r
There are other tattoo artists but there is only one ZULU. \r
\r
Thank you brother.\r

I feel so blessed to have come across Zulu Tattoo and Lantz for my first tattoo's! I sent him my design and told him what my vision was and why I was getting the tattoo's done. He was very respectful and understood the importance. His work is methodical combined with a light touch that resulted in beautiful meticulous lines. People are knocked down by his Sanskrit work on my arm's. My tattoo's really are special and are the perfect expression of Bhakti Yoga.\r
\r
Zulu's radiates very pure energy. Very low key, clean and professional. My appointments ran on time and were confirmed with email reminders and follow up phone calls.... with Catherine the Great running the front you are in good hands:)\r
\r
If you are looking to express your inner spiritual warrior in the form of tattoo... Go Zulu!\r

My wife discovered Zulu 12 years ago after a long search for the right place for her first Tattoo. We were both equally impressed with the results and the Artist! We both are huge Zulu fans and have referred countless people to him over the years. Take a look at the work he and his fellow artists have done and you'll see why we go to Zulu exclusively. We have checked out several other shops over the years (even some you have seen on TV & got a totally bad vibe) and haven't found a more welcoming and creative ( And Clean!) atmosphere. The people make the difference! And that is what makes us return to Zulu again & again. If you are looking for your first or 500th piece I really recommend that you at least go in and check it out.

It's an honor to wear ink by Zulu. The lineage of tattoo is ancient, tribal and spiritual. Zulu understands the heritage of tatau (original Samoan word for tattoo) and is a scholarly practitioner of the art. Very special people and space. Malama Pono!

I do not exaggerate when I tell you I cannot count the number of times people of all walks of life have come up to me and said those very words: ""That is the best tattoo I have ever seen in my entire life!"" \r
\r
As a heavily tattooed woman, when I decided on a sleeve design, I searched intensely for 4 years to find the right artist. One look at Lantz Huston?s work and I knew he was 100% the man for the job! People go crazy when they see my sleeves. I walk around with a huge stack of Lantz?s business cards because I cannot walk 100 yards without somebody stopping me to ask about my beautiful tattoos. \r
\r
Lantz is kind, patient, thoughtful and just an incredible artist and person. He will make you feel right at home and ensure that you get exactly the tattoo you want. He?ll even guide you with inspired ideas if you aren?t quite sure. As far as his technique goes?.it?s just unparalleled. My sleeves were extremely complex and he relished the challenge and executed it brilliantly!\r

I had a lot of ideas about what I wanted my next tatoo to be. I had seen Zulu Tatoo driving up/down Crescent Heights and found their window display really intriguing. So I called and left a message. Khani called me the same day and we made an appointment for me with Lantz. Lantz took my scraps of paper and half formed ideas and before I even got home had emailed me a design to think about. It really is the most awesome of my tats and I can't wait to go back and work on the next one!

I looked a very long time for a tattoo artist whose passion for their art went deeper than the material. After my first consultation with Zulu I knew I'd found that artist. There is a vibe in the Zulu tattoo studio that draws you in and makes you want to stay. Everyone there is very passionate about their work and you can see it in how they treat their clients. \r
\r
Zulu was genuinely excited about the idea I had for my tattoo and took the drawing and color to the next level. I trusted his judgment completely. I have several friends who are planning on flying into the country just to see Zulu. If you have an opportunity to meet Zulu I would say don't miss it.

I went into Zulu a few years ago with the intention of getting one tattoo that I designed to represent part of my cultural background. The experience was so rewarding for so many reasons that I have now gone back three times and will return for a fourth. The artists are beyond top notch. They make you feel comfortable and allow you to create your own designs so the ink you get is still ""yours"" and not their interpretation. By far the best place in LA and among the best in the country

I can't say enough great things about this studio or the incredible souls I have met through Zulu Tattoos many events and gatherings. I first came to Zulu to have a cover-up done and little did I know I would be leaving with much more than a beautiful marking..... I left with lasting friendships. Not only do I have an incredible artist, I have gained a beautiful friend. \r
The studio design is amazing, its immaculate, yet very comfortable and serene. Getting your sacred mark from anyone at Zulu Tattoo is not only a privilege, it is truly an amazing experience. \r
I have recently moved out of state, but all of the darling people I have had the absolute pleasure of meeting here at Zulu Tattoo, you better believe I will travel to do it all again...and again.\r
Big Hugs to all of you and see you soon!! LOVE YOU, ROXX!

I went to Zulu Tattoo for my first bit of ink. Actually, it was a lot of ink because I figured if you're gonna get a tattoo, get a tattoo. I got a beautiful piece done on my forearm by King Afa Cocker, a specialist in Polynesian tattoos. When I first met with Afa, he listened patiently to my ideas then worked with me to develop something that was unique and powerful.\r
\r
I did the tattoo for me, but I get stopped at least once a day by someone who wants to ask about my tattoo. I always tell them where to go too - Straight to Zulu!

I was a tattoo virgin and they were so great. They made me feel at ease, were clean and professional and very cool. I will definitely go back and recommend them highly.

Everywhere I go, people compliment my tattoo and ask where I got it. Roni Zulu interpreted my ideas perfectly, and actually gave more life to the piece than I had already envisioned. The color and detail are amazing! I even had a bobby in England stop me so he could have a closer look. If you are looking for a meaningful tattoo done by a talented and empathetic artist, Zulu Tattoo is the place to go.

Misha was my chosen artist. I wanted to do a memorial piece. Not your everyday memorial piece though, this one was to commemorate a little sea lion named Brodi. I told Misha what I was looking for and she came up with a beautiful tattoo that consisted of a portrait of him on a California Reef. Little Brodi died before he ever got to go in the ocean or eat his first fish, but because of Misha's beautiful work, he will always be in the ocean where he belongs. I have an awesome piece of art on my back that I will always treasure. It brings tears to the eyes of all the people who's lives were touched by this delightful sea lion. Misha's work went way beyond my expectations. I'm planning on a few more marine mammal tattoos and I wouldn't consider anyone else for the job. She is awesome!

Zulu is the man...I had an amazing experience. From the look and feel of the shop (not the dingy, shady feel of the typical parlor, its vibrant colors and world art give it a very positive vibe) to the attention and consultation you receive from the artists (Zulu spent 30 - 45 minutes talking with me about my design and how he thought it would be best illustrated). Khani was awesome, working around my schedule and Zulu's to get me in for the multiple sessions. I would strongly recommend Zulu Tattoo to anyone who wants a true artist to lay down their sacred mark.\r
\r
PEACE!\r
\r
P.S. If you want a Mickey tattoo or Tweety Bird on your back, go elsewhere - every single artist in this shop is a legitimate artist.
