One of the first pros you will find is the location. The pier is a great place to walk down and then why not grab a drink on the way! Sangria has decent service and a young professional crowd. Would recommend to start for a couple drinks the head down the Pier for the rest of the night!

I enjoy good music to dance to and Sangria offers just that. If you get bored of one type of music, go to the other room for a completely different experience! I like that the music wasn't boring, the dj mixed it up with radio hits and older 80s & 90s songs. It was great fun. The sangria is pretty decent, though they only put apples in them and no other variety of fruit. The wait is long at any club on the pier but Sangria is a great little place to go and dance away!

.

I have been to Sangria about three times. Every time the experience has been less than desirable. The security staff holds the line for no apparent reason and will make the line wait about 45 minutes to an hour to get in. People cut the line and pay off the bouncer all the time, but usually these are the drunk group of five girls who think they don't have to wait in any line. The security staff is very rude. It's a shame because the bartenders are very nice and apologetic for the horrible host staff. Drinks also come in plastic dixie cups which is unacceptable for a place that charges a cover. They do this so they don't have to pay more barbacks to clean up hard plastic cups. Cheap plastic cups mean spilled drinks while dancing or moving through the crowd. The crowd is also quite disappointing. It's the Hermosa Crowd that thinks they are in an elite and hard to get into club, and they act that way- which quickly becomes tiring. The security will also decide to not let you pass from room to room because of capacity. This means that if you credit card/girlfriend/friends are in the inside room, and the security decides to hold the door to the outside room, your going to be stuck until they let you into the other room. I had to ask for the manager to get into the inside room to close my tab and leave. Why wait in line, pay a cover, be treated rudely...only to get an overpriced drink in a flimsy plastic cup to hang out with lame people and possibly not be allowed to get your credit card or see your friends when you want. Why?

Gotta say, if you don't mind droppin a c-note on food, drink, and the like.... You've pretty much going get your hook up. 1--The thing to keep in mind is the opposite gender is there for the same reason, so don't be awkward. 2-- Dress nice. I have to tell you, the dudes dressed like chumps were sittin off to the side, NOT have a great night. 3-- this is for the guys, Dance. Period. Sangria has two great dance floors (little crowded but ok) and two DJ's every night. So get in there and get some.
Sidenote: This place has any number so celebrities come in on any given night, so be wary of that. They'll be mobbed, don't be part of the problem.

Pros: Great singles joint. If you don't come out with a girl on your arm, you're probably just a tool.

Cons: CROWDED. Expensive. Lots of dudes there for the same reason you are.

ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS PLACE IS THAT THEY ARE DISCRIMINATING TORCE LATINOS!!!!!!!!!!!!
On September 16th (MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY) a group of friends and i went out to a place called Sangria's in Hermosa Beach and were straight up discriminated against. They wouldnt let us in this place because we were a large group of hispanics. Don't think that we were dressed wrong or started some stuff there, because we didn't. We were the first ones in line and waited an hour for them to come to us and ask to speak to the leader of our group. My sister spoke with this black sellout and he said we werent going to be able to get in because one of the guys that wen't with us looked like somebody that came in the previous week and started trouble but none of the guys that went had even been there before. They also stated that an Hermosa Beach Police officer came and told them that but when we asked to speak to the officer they did nothing, we asked to speak to the manager and didn't let us. We drove 40 minutes, paid vallet and all just to not even be allowed into this place. I called twice that day to ask about the specifications on the dress code every single one of us were dressed properly, none of us were thugs, we did nothing wrong. I have never felt so discriminated against in my life. Its not right that they still do things like this to people, please dont let Sangria's get away with this, do something to spread the word out about them. Please take the time to repost this as a bulletin. How is this place going to be named after a latin drink but yet they discriminate against latinos? Never go here, this type of stuff has to stop, we are in the year 2008, people don't have the right to treat people like this.

This place is great. first of all, the food is great. Like all of hermosa beach, it gets really busy on a friday or saturday night, but the people that work there are really nice. The rest of hermosa beach can be pretty crappy, but this place does a good job of setting itself apart from the rest. Again, I think it's the people that work there that make the difference. The servers are very nice and friendly. the bartenders are great. the managers are very helpful. The bouncers are awesome. Good crowd, good music, good atmosphere. Very fun. This is a top notch place. I Highly recomend it.

Pros: none

Cons: they still think its the 50's

Another trendy wanna be LA nightclub/restaurant. It is so over priced here, and good luck getting one of those over priced drinks on the weekend. the bartenders have attitudes, even though they make like $200 an hour.

Sangria really gets busy on Friday and Saturday nights. As a club it can be really fun (if you are 21-29. After that it's not fun anymore. It is more of a meat market, so don't say I didn't warn you. The food is really good, but very pricey. If you dine there before you go out, you are already in the club, so no cover charge. The bartenders are very busy so I guess that makes it OK for them to be very rude.

Great priced drinks, Nice location, Great music! I have never eaten here but the night bar scene on the weekends rocks! I have made this bar the place I go when I don't want to worry about getting all gussied up just to have a good time. Very kick back so you can wear jeans and dance all night. The drinks are well-priced so you can go with a $20.00 and have about 4 drinks. The cover is a low $10.00 so it beats the Hollywood scene. Since Sharkees burned down it has gotten a bit crowdy so as long as you show up in line for 10:00 your ok.

I went to Sangria in Hermosa Beach for my 22nd birthday. I have to say, I think it was one of my best birthdays ever! I wasn't sure about it because I don't do the trendy or club scene often, so this was kind of a shot in the dark for me, but thankfully it worked out. I went with five friends of differing types and they all had a good time. First, the ambiance was great - darker, sultry, fresh, a little "exotic," and a little of trendy meets old world charm. Secondly, our waitress was awesome! She was extremely helpful, very nice, engaged in friendly conversation with our table, unexpectedly brought me a dessert (I was a bit too drunk to know whether or not it was free by that time) - the dessert was really good FYI, and she even brought us a round a free shots for the table once she saw me and a couple of my girlfriends drinking Long Islands, which are apparently her favorite. She even took a shot with us and I think she may have also been a bar tender. She really did help to make the experience! Drink wise... the Long Islands were average, maybe a little above, the dirty martini was alright but the restaurant's namesake was GREAT! Simply put, the sangria is definitely worth the price! The food was also really good and worth its price. I had their shrimp which they are known for, the quesadillas were good too. The dance scene was only alright, at least IMHO. One room was sorta Latin/dance music and the other was full of mostly older rap. I prefer rock music, alternative, classic rock and other fun oldies or old school rap, but it wasn't horrible. As the restaurant turned into a club it got much more crowded. We called ahead for reservations and the dress was mostly nice/casual. Great sangria, great food, great customer service. I would go back, but not likely for dancing unless I went on a live music night, or for flamenco (I think they have flamenco shows - check their website).

On a Saturday night, the hip hop beats were good and the drinks were fairly strong. You have to fight your way through the dance floor crowd to get to the bar, though. Like clean air? Too bad -- they keep the folding floor-to-ceiling doors perpetually open, so cigarette smoke from outside drifts straight in. Here's my biggest complaint: the doorman/bouncer decided, out of the clear blue sky, that my friend's baseball hat had to go -- immediately. Nothing was said to my friend upon entry, but hours later he was threatened with immediate expulsion unless he removed his formerly-not-a-problem hat. The bouncer said nothing to the several other people nearby that were wearing hats, though. Whatever, dude.

PLEASE NEVER GO HERE!!!! A group of friends and I went to this bar to celebrate my Birthday and they didnt even let us in, i called 2 times for the dress code & everyone was dressed properly, in fact they didn't say we couldnt get in because somebody was acting up, or dressed wrong. They just didn't let us in because we were a large group of hispanics. The door man which is black sellout said one of the guys looked like somebody that started trouble the previous week, none of the guys had even been to this place ever before. The also stated that a Hermosa Beach police officer told them that but when we asked to speak to the officer they did nothing, we asked to speak to the manager and they also did nothing. I have never felt so discriminated before in my life. None of my friends were cholos, we did absolutly nothing to deserve the treatment we recieved. Please if you do go party in Hermosa Beach check out another spot there. Please help me spead the word out about this place, don't let Sangria's get away with treating people like dirt. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this review.

Sangria is definitely a place to go, at least once, on the lively Hermosa Pier Ave. There are weekly dance performances by a local Spanish (like from Spain) and their dances don't get old.

The food is very accurate to the dishes of Southern Spain, although they often throw in some excellent fusion dishes which are to die for.

Prices are rather expensive for their very small portions, but I think of the excess as more of an entry fee than just overpriced food - after all the atmosphere is quite lively.

I have never eaten at Sangria but have been there a number of times for drinks. It is a fun bar with 3 areas for dancing. They have different theme nights including hip hop, latin, and house. I really enjoy the rap theme nights as I feel they get pretty good DJ's. The drinks at Sangria are a little expensive for what you get so I suggest having a few drinks before you go. Also, there is usually a cover on the weekends ($5-$10).

First of all if you get there before 10pm there's no line. The drinks are cheap and strong. The dance floor is crowded and there is nothing but hip hop playing most of the night. Where's the advertised salsa and latin music?? I was getting a headache with all those old hip hop songs. The setting is apealing plus a walk away from the beach. I wouldn't go there again though!

Like many places right on Hermosa pier - this place can get a little cheesy. Mostly a young crowd - which is good if your'e in to that. Great diverse crowd. Went to dinner here once before the dancing began and was surprised by the food, much better than i expected.

Cons: hard to get in, a little small, needs bigger danceflo

This place is a dump. Its overcrowded, greasy, and full of misplaced posers. Who's dump enough to stand in the line? If you raise your hand in answer to this question, find a new bar.

Best (and really only) course of action for Sangria... EAT DINNER and then stick around for the club. Grab a couple of friends, chit chat and order some tapas. As you drink the yummy sangria, the already good looking people start looking better as they pile in. If you get there between 9pm - 10pm, yer screwed. Long lines. Looooong lines! But it really is worth the wait. If only they had a bigger dancing area! :(

Sangria is fun... if you can handle waiting two hours to get in. Seems like the further toward the water you go on the Hermosa pier, the shorter the lines are, but the less, um, attractive the clientele. Sangria is the furthest club from the water on the pier. Do the math.

If you're 22 and just out of college, this is a great bar to meet and greet the local flavor. It's kind of a cheesy pick up bar, but if that's what you're looking for, check it out. I used to go here all of the time in my younger years (back before Pier Ave. was even a promendade!)

Food is great, spanish tapas I believe, and it's tasty. The pesto dip they give you with the bread is a great place to start.

I've never had dinner here, but if it's anything close to how this place is at night, then you are looking at a perfect 10. Once the dinner crowd is complete, this place turns into the best dance/meeting place in Hermosa. Don't be intimidated by the long lines cause once you are in, it will have been worth the wait. The 1st room is all hip hop. And the back room is a mix of techno/club music and old skool. I would have to call Sangria one of fav places in all of LA.

This is a cool place to go for dinner. The food is good, especially with a sangria at hand. After dinner, Sangria transforms into a bar/club. The place gets pretty packed pretty fast. There is usually a long line to get in.
