I had been going to Raya consistently for the past several years for waxing (spending a good chunk of money there). I decided to try the spa services I had seen offered--the sign of a truly loyal customer. I called and made appointments--a massage for my mom and and a facial for me. I confirmed with the receptionist that my mom and I would be able to enjoy the "spa facilities" together.

However, when we arrived I was told I would not be able to use the spa facilities because I had booked the basic facial and not the facial which was the next level up. I explained I was not aware of this policy, particularly because the receptionist who booked my appointment did not mention this when I explicitly asked if my mom and I would be able to use the facilities together. Instead of recognizing that someone on their end had made a mistake and extending a one time courtesy in an effort to correct the situation, the receptionists working argued extensively about the situation (in front of several waiting customers). During their attempted explanations, the receptionists said that this was the policy in order to keep a "reasonable" number in the spa. However, during further discussions with the acting manager, I was told that they would let me use the facilities if I upgraded my facial to the next level. So you only have room for me in spa facilities if I pay more money? It was clear they were just trying to squeeze an extra $20 out of me. I refused and let them know that I would never come back for any services as a result of this.

Here's the kicker--my mom had already gone in to have her treatment and came out with only bad things to say: there was no real spa facilities, a maintenance man walked in the spa facilities unannounced, and the massage therapist was unprofessional. Oh--and it turned out she was the only person in the spa. There are too many good places in L.A. to be wasting time and money with this place.

The facial was just okay though she was very nice. however afterwards I asked for some samples of the products she recommended. the counter girl said there were no samples but I could return the products if I didn't like them. I figured hey, no risk maybe I'll like them. It turns out it is exchange only and the products are total crud. Why would I want to exchange them for other things I wouldn't like? The ingredients are really yucky too, so be careful.

Pros: cheap

I know everyone who has reviewed Raya has loved it, and I agree that the facilities are clean, nice, modern, and luxurious, and the reception desk staff is friendly and helpful, but I had an unfortunate waxing experience. The woman who waxed me continuously lamented at how ungroomed I was, making me feel embarrassed and awful the entire time. I am not an especially hairy girl and could not understand why she couldn't just shut up and do her job. After all, if I weren't a bit ungroomed, why would I be in there in the first place?

This place looks clean, seems friendly enough, probably good at other services, but by god, do NOT go here for a bikini wax. especially do NOT go with a woman named CARMELLA. Never in my life have i been treated so poorly and gotten a worse waxing job.

I came in to the room and she said "you know what to do, lets make this quick" verbatim. first of all. its a SPA. I was so confused that she was standing there waiting for me to take my clothes off, she clapped her hands yelling " come on what are you waiting for!"

THEN she proceeded to rip away hair WITHOUT following standard waxing procedure, she barely pressed down on the strip or waited for the warm wax to set, resulting in very painful waxing, and a very splotchy job. I couldn't believe that was happening. and THEN she proceeded to say, " next time come on time."
I was on time, except i had to wait around in the garage for a nonexistent parking attendant. She said that multiple times as she repeatedly put the used strip back on and reusing the used part on the splotchy area - ripping the same spot over and over again.

I dont know how they train their people, but you should know, NOT to dunk the same waxing stick that got used into the wax jar, thats disgustingly unhygienic. AND not to restick and wax using the same used wax on the strip, talk about cheap and unhygienic.
She then looked at the poor job she did and said " your skin is too sensitive, the hair is not coming off, and i could tweeze it but it will hurt you, so i wont." not only did she refuse to fix the poor job she did, she blamed ME for it!

I left with red, bleeding pores, a lapful of powder that she dumped on me and a "leave the door open on your way out" as she left the room. Did i mention it hurt and is now red and rashy. Count your lucky stars you don't leave with an infection from the unhygienic and unprofessional service. Im never coming here again. I can't believe it got best brazillian vote on citysearch.

I was fortunate enough to be referred to Raya's by some ladies who work in the entertainment industry. After the very first facial, I understood why they kept raving that Raya's was the best in L.A. It is worth the 40 minute drive from the southbay to Hollywood. I am constantly receiving compliments about my skin and I can see the improvement after one of my facials. The products are all made by Raya's husband who is a chemist and they are extremely affordable and have the best scents of any products I've tried. Treat yourself to Raya's...you deserve it.

just moved from NYC and was looking for a new place for waxing , i just tried Raya and it was great !
I have been waxing for 12years, so i can comfortabley say this was an excellent experience and job well done. The price was very good, for those of us who wax every month this is definately part of the decition factor , in fact i often think salons should have deals for those who wax all year long every month, some small discount , or one of those cards you stamp like in a coffee shop-if you guys at Raya are reading, think about it...;)

great job, excellent wax, great atmosphere, the place is beautiful and super clean, and great pricing, kudos! i highly recommend it, and no doubt will be back myself.

I have had Microdermabrasion and Facials at Raya Spa and both were fabulous. They use fantastic products (ask for the Vital Silk Serum) and the staff is very friendly and experienced.

I love the wax that it used at Raya. It is painless . They do the most amazing brazilian bikini waxes for only $39.00. I have had facials on numerous occasions, and they are fantastic. My skin always glows and feels great. The staff is friendly and highly experienced not to mention professional. This is my favorite

I've been hearing about this great spa but until now haven't had the opportunity to see for myself. What a great place. If I had known I wouldn't have waited so long. The place is gorgeous, the people our gracious, the service is over the top. I signed up for the works. I've been to a lot of spas but must say this was the best massage I've ever had. My facial person was very knowledgeable and she gave me an excellent facial.

Raya Day Spa on La Cienega Blvd is so relaxing...for last 10 years I get a facial every month with Lili or Suzanne & my skin always glows. I also love their skincare products souffles, collagen day cream, vitasilk C, & replenishing body products are just some of my favorites. If you ever need your custom bikini done make an appointment with Bella or Lena...they are the best! Highly recommend to use their sauna and steam facilities and have a great massage with Oksana or Laura -they are the best massage therapists in town. Everyone there is so friendly & helpful....front staff always greets you with a smile..really makes you feel welcome. I highly recomend everyone visiting Raya European Day Spa what ever service you have you will be satisfied.

I have experienced all levels of skin care/spa venues, but this one tops the charts. You are not rushed or made to feel like just another customer, but cared for by experienced estheticians. The atmosphere is very pristine. The staff makes you feel relaxed, important, and welcome. There is a wonderful variety of spa/beauty treatments that come highly recommended. Prices are reasonable with the availability of discounts when purchasing packages. I am proud to be a client.

A wonderful place to go to get a relaxing massage and be treated with respect, dignity, courtesy and privacy. The environment is esthetically pleasing, very clean and comfortable. Most of the therapists give a really deep massage, have been there for a long time and are very knowledgeable & professional. The place is very upscale and immaculate. I highly recommend them. They have made the spa experience pleasurable and lower priced, making it affordable for everyone.

This was my first time at the Raya Spa. Initially I expected this to be a positive experience. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The building was nice looking on the outside and clean on the inside. I enjoyed the sauna, and the steam room was relaxing. But then came my massage I wish I had checked some references I don't know where they hired this "massage therapist" but she had one technique... Shake and rub it till it burns. Not to mention I felt she was getting a bit fresh with my areas. It was impossible to relax the massage did absolutly nothing for me, but make me feel kinda violated. I was kicking myself the next day for not stoping it early and getting off her table. I hope this review saves somebody else from going through the same awful experience.

This salon has the best, most knowledgeable, most caring skin care I have ever experienced not only in LA , but in the United States. The place itself is beautiful and spacious. The atmosphere is relaxing. I have been to many facialists over the years, and since coming here I will not trust anywhere else with my newly radiant skin. If you are looking for a skin care salon to give you the utmost in healthy, beautiful skin, you owe it to yourself to make an appointment at Raya. The pricing is very low for this type of luxury spa as well, so I can go more often and enjoy their spa services.

The only enjoyable part was the sauna and i coiuld have went to the gym for that! do not go here!

I just moved to the area and I've been getting massaged and facials for a long time. The ambiance was what you would expect for a spa. They had a nice shower, good products, and nice steam rooms. I was told they just remodeled a few years ago. The walls of the rooms are very thin so you can hear people talking and doors slamming periodically. The facial was normal, the girl was very nice, her name was Sandra. I prefer to have my facials very slow, soothing, and gentle. Her style was much more quick and intense. The facial only went for 60 minutes and was supposed to go for 70 minutes. I didn't mind that too much because she accomplished what I went there for. My deep tissue massage started late, it felt very rushed. The massage therapist seemed to want to get out of there (I think I was her last client). The massage only went for 50 minutes and it was supposed to go for 1 hour. I minded the massage much more because ... well... it's a massage!! Anyway, I demanded that they give me a prorated discount for the 10 minutes that I didn't get for the massage. I thought that was only fair. I may or may not go back there. I am definately going to try other places first, and if I can't find anything better for a compariable price for the services, then I will go back. Overall, I give this spa an average rating.

The facials at Raya Spa fixed my skin. I have had problems for years with my complexion. After 4 facials, my skin has never looked better. I rarely review, but Raya Spa deserves the mention. I am thrilled and would recommend to anyone for skin care. I have not yet tried other services, but my friend raves about the swedish massage.

I have had facials at some of the best spas in the world. Last week I had the most amazing facial of my life. The esthetician really worked with me on what I was trying to accomplish. I loved the way my skin looked when the facial was finished. I think the prices are on the low side for LA, but the quality of service far exceeds anything I've had. I felt very welcome by the receptionist and very comfortable in the whole atmosphere. The girls who worked there really seemed to know what they were doing. I would definitely recommend it and I will be back there again.

I was impressed from the moment I walked in. The place is very stylish, clean, and contemporary. It also smells great when you walk it. There are lots of employees waiting to assist you. I had a facial and a massage. Both were professional, I especially loved the products that they used on my skin. A totally relaxing and revitalizing experience. Great deal too. I was very impressed. Highly recommended.

I heard some decent reviews about this spa and I found it extremely appealing that it openned on Sundays and late on weekdays. I went for the first time about 3 weeks. I had the single worst facial of my life!!! The basics about the day spa were good: clean facility, quickly taken to facial room, nice reception desk. However, the facial itself was awful. My esthetician actually "wished me luck" before starting on my extractions. That should of been the red flag that I should run for the hills. The esthetician pressed far too hard and agressively on my face. I kept telling her that the pressure she was using was hurting me. I made it clear on several occassions that if the extraction did not come out the first two times she tried, to leave it alone. But she still wouldn't listen. At one point I was in such discomfort, that I told her I wanted her to completely stop so that I could leave. And to no avail, she kept telling me she was almost done. However, this is not the worst part. The worst part is that 3 weeks later there are still marks on my face from the pressure she put on my face during extractions. I'm pretty upset about it and now there is nothing I can do except wait and hope that the marks eventually heal. Had I just gone to my usual facialist at Thibbiant, I found of had a refreshing facial with no discomfort, or awful marks (hopefully, not scars) left on my face. Needless to say, I will NEVER get a discount facial again and NEVER go to RAYA again!

Needless to say, I will NEVER get a discount facial again and NEVER go to RAYA again!

Pros: Open on Sundays and late on weekdays

Cons: Awful estheticians

I'll admit I'm a pretty emotional girl - if it hurts, I can't hold back the tears. Needless to say, in the past I've literally cried during bikini waxes. I avoid it like the plague until I just can't go anymore. Friday was the point where I had to do something, so I decided to try Raya Day Spa. I couldn't have made a better choice. I got a Brazilian and a full leg wax. I was out in 25 minutes and not a tear in sight. Nellie was amazing. She and I were talking so much, I literally forgot that I was supposed to be in pain. And with the full leg, she even got that annonying strip of hair on my foot and that one hair from my big toe! Once I was done, reception did a great job of getting my bill taken care of with a smile and I was out of there! I took advantage of the free one hour in the parking lot on Melrose/LaCienega. All in all this was the most pleasant waxing experience I ever had and I can't wait to go back and try a facial!

There are dozens of Spas in LA, but Raya Spa is my favorite and I think the best that you will find. It offers a great menu of skin oriented services (Facials, Massage, Waxing). They're famous for their European styled facials. I have a couple of girlfriends, whose skin looks better today than 5 years ago (and they swear it was Raya facials and creams). I love the upscale European design of the spa and all its amenities (modern, clean, relaxing). I also love the prices, usually far more reasonable than comparable spas. Raya has also been on La Cienega forever. They know what they are doing and offer services at affordable prices. Highly Recommended for Spa goers.

I have had bad skin since puberty and have been to dozens of different skin care places, used at least that many different skin care lotions, potions, creams, masks, etc. and nothing really made a difference until I found RAYA. I have been a client for 8 months now and the results are amazing. I wish that I had ordered their products when I lived in Boston, but better late than never. Anyone that wants to take good care of their skin, should visit RAYA and have a facial. I go to Lili, but also see Raya herself, when I can get an appointment. Highly recommended for their results-oriented services, but they are also a full spa with all the bells and whistles, at very reasonable prices.

If you want to be pampered by true professionals, this is the place to go. I have been extremely pleased with the expertise of the staff and the spa is very relaxing, beautiful and clean! It was a soothing experience and I didn't feel as if I was being rushed out the door. I had my appointment on a Sunday and was excited that they were even opened that day. The facial was amazing and I think I even fell asleep. My skin is still soft and glowing. I will be going back soon to try out their other services.

I was given a Spa Finder gift card for the holidays and found Raya DaySpa on-line. It was the best value for the money anywhere in Hollywood and on citysearch. This is especially why my visit was so impressive. I would not go to just any place now. I am convinced that, for the money or even for more money, I will not find a better place. I very much recommend anyone to visit.

I'm not easily thrilled, I have visited my share of spas, both in town and out, but this is a find. I loved the clean, crisp, modern, yet Romanesque feel. The staff was attentive and obviously experienced. The treatments use generous amounts of product. The showers and spa area are 5 star. The pricing is very reasonable. Overall, I left very satisfied and purchased a couple of gift cards.

I have been getting facials for many years and decided to try Raya Spa. When I first went in I was told to have a seat. I waited for over 20 min then finally the estitician came out. She never asked about my skin and even when I tried to let her know that it was very sensitive she proceeded to be extremely rough. The room was dirty and the staff was unhelpful. My skin looked horrible, and the woman was very quick with me. I will never go there again I would much rather pay $10 more somewhere else to recieve a more calming and expertise facial. It's worth your time to pay more than to recieve such terrible service.

I found Raya Spa on citysearch and read the great reviews. I booked for a facial and waxing. The facial was very thorough and left my skin feeling revived. The waxing was quick and done very professionally. I had a great experience and felt very pampered. In addition, the bill was almost half of what I am used to paying for similar and often less impressive services elsewhere. I give Raya a 10 out of 10. There is so much attention to detail, hygiene, and skill. Highly Recommended.

Best facial I ever received! A great spa facility! I felt pampered and the staff is always friendly and informative! I will come back again and again! I even got my husband a massage and he raved about the atmosphere and the massage. This is a truly relaxing spa with a wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. I would recommend it to anyone. They also have the best skin care products.

I went to Raya salon for my second time recently. The first time I was very impressed, but the second visit was horrible. Not only did the woman not perform all the precedures they were extremely rude and unhelpful when I told them I thought something was missing. The reason I knew that part of the procedure
was not done was because I had gotten it done the month before. The woman was very rushed and must of thought I would not have noticed. When I asked if they could help me in any way they said the only thing I could do was e-mail the manager, which I think is pretty ridiculous to ask of a paying customer. They ended up refunding me and instead of asking if there was anything they could do to make my experience better they e-mailed me and told me they would delete my file. If you are someone who likes to get the services they pay for do not go here. I would have returned to Raya and tried someone else to do my facials but the poor treatment from the management was very unacceptable the manager never even called
me back to see what had happened.

I just moved to LA a couple of weeks ago from NYC and was told that Raya is the place for skin in LA. Its a unique and authentic boutique skin spa, not typical commercial. It was by far the best facial I have ever had; professional staff, professional environment, yummy products and affordable. Don't hesitate to get the traditional European facial and I love their "skin recovery masque" and "aloe-cucumber toner".

I was given a gift card for a facial. It was a great relief to discover that this place is the "real thing". I received a great facial and relaxing massage, in a clean and well kept spa, for a very reasonable price. No fluff, such as over-priced chocolate wraps - that do nothing except waste time. My face never felt so good, and I left completely relaxed. I would highly recommend this spa for anyone and as a holiday gift idea. Also try the Mint Souffle, its the best cleanser for oily skin that I have ever tried.

I have been going to Raya for 15 years. Even before I lived in Hollywood, I would drive from LaJolla just to get a facial and buy the greatest products money can buy at an unbelievably reasonable price. The quality of the products and the quality of skin care is the best perk any establishment can have.

I was sick for a years and just went back for a facial at their brand new location (right next door) that was built by Raya's husband. You can feel the love that built Raya when you walk in the door.

Every man and woman in town should make an appointment and experince how you feel when you walk out of Raya Spa. It gives you a great feeling of loving yourself, which should always be our number one priority in life.

I started using their products daily and my skin has never been so clear or smooth. I highly recommend their facials. They have been known for their facials for over 2 decades. The spa feels expensive, but surprisingly the prices are very fair. They are also a popular spot for brazilian bikini waxes. TIP: I had trouble finding parking on my first visit, but I found out that they validate for the corner (la cienega and melrose) black and white striped building. Just park there and ask for validation at the reception desk.

A friend recommended Raya Spa to me, she said it was luxurious and well priced. It was that and more. You just don't get so much for the money anymore. It is really a luxurious enviornment and the service was very professional. I had the Spa Facial; facial with showers, steam room, lush robe and towels, etc. I really enjoyed it. I recommend Raya for routine facials and for those special treat-yourself times. P.S. if you have oily skin, try the mint souffle, it cleared my skin.

It was my first time at Raya Spa on Monday, and I was very pleased with everything. My Facial was wonderful. I was not kept waiting at all, and they also schedule evening treatments which is very convenient but not always possible at other facilities. My esthetician was so professional and polite. She recommended some products for me for home use. I've been using it for 7 days already and I am very happy about the results. They have a very nice facility and their prices seem competitive. I have been waxing for years on different places, but since Bella did my brazilian bikini I couldn't go to another . Besides a sweet person, her professional skill is nearly painless. Congratulations for a such great and inexpensive job! See you on my next appointment!

I was told by a friend to go because of their low prices, and that sounded good because i spend a great deal of money on skin care/beauty etc. (i'm an actress) so i thought saving some money would be great. now i am addicted. the staff is so wonderful, never pushy, and really seem to work hard to understand your individual needs. I have been to a lot of spas in town- all the fancy places- and RAYA has all the elegance and skill of those places without the elite hollywood feel, or crazy prices. I finally just bought a 10 facial series and that helps save money too... they also have a great line of products-many of which i own and swear by. I don't think you'll be disappointed...

I am not a regular to Day Spa's, at least I wasn't before going to RAYA. I had been Burke Willams to have a facial and massage, I was told they were the best. And I found it so over rated and priced. The raya staff are personal and sweet. And I like the idea of getting a European facial- from a European..which all the women are. They were open to answering lots of questions too. I couldn't believe how much cheaper it was- especially considering the location and how lush the facility is. Also the owner was there and she came up and asked if everything was "okay?". that was really cool. I have gone a couple times since and found the service just as good.
Susan and Nellie are my favorites for facial- but everyone I've had is great, honestly.

I was recommended by a friend to Raya day spa, I knew that they were a popular place for spa services, but I was blown away with what I saw. Its like walking into GUCCI or PRADA, the place is stunning. I have been to several spas in town, and this spa is in another league, more on the level of the spa at Bellagio in Vegas (but boutique style). The facility is extravagant and I was thrilled to see the price list. The prices are at least 40% lower than most of the local day spas and 80% lower than the higher end hotel spas in town. I recommend it to anyone and also for gift certificate purchase.

I travel for a living and have been to countless spas, I have never received so much for my money. This is a GRAND designer boutique spa with attention given to every detail. I had a Spa Facial and Massage. The actual Spa area is incredibly clean and upscale, (the spa facial includes use of the sauna, steam rooms, and shower). The facial was a true European facial, where your face feels 5 years younger when you leave. The spa and service waiting area has complimentary fruit, chilled bottled water, nuts, lemonade. I spent 3 hours being pampered in a truly luxurious environment and it cost me about 1/2 the price I would have been charged at most mediocre day spas. I highly recommend this spa to everyone. Call to make an appointment, Weekends get booked up. For those who have experience with spas, this is a great find.
