After a whirlwind of driving from Russian River, through Jenner & a spectacular sunset, heading south on CA1 and a fruitless stop in Pt Reyes Sta @ the all too stuck-up Station House Cafe, we were sooo fortunate to stumble upon Sorella Caffe.
A chance turn into the town of Fairfax, we were led by white (holiday) lights to this cozy restaurant w/ marinated olives & freshly scooped cheese served upon our being seated.
Though Sorella's menu has a standard cioppino, the server announced one w/ fresh crab---that's the one for me. It came w/ lots of mussels, whole clams, tiny scallops, bay shrimp and hunks of white fish. Yummy.
Mom had eggplant parm---the sauce was light & akin to vodka sauce. Spaghetti & meatball for the 7-year-old. My only complaint is the menu stated "meatballs," rather than the singular, albeit good sized, meatball that appeared atop the pasta. A bean soup and salad for my partner who gave thumbs up to both.
As for dessert---I spied a tiramisu @ a nearby table. If I had any room left (I took home half my cioppino), tiramisu would hav e been my choice:)

Pros: Hearty, Delicious Food--Fireplaces--Lots of Windows
Cons: Poor handicap bathroom access requiring two steps to the lav door from dining area
Overall, this place is terrific: its food, service and ambiance. It has a very home-like warmth to it. Their antipasti are tasty and generous as are their main courses. My wife loves their specialty, Pollo Alla Sorella, while I am torn between their Fetuccine al Pesto and their Porcini Ravioli. Once you try this place, you'll be hooked.

Great food, reasonable prices, a HUGE chunk of parmesan on your plate. Be prepared to wait, but it's worth it.
