Small place, nice for a small get together with friends, lights are very dim you're almost in the dark! Fits the name of the place.

An unpretentious, dark dive with real rye whiskey? Now that's right up my alley! Love the music and the decor is cool. Had Elvira sat on my lap and let me motorboat her, I'd have given a 5th star, J/K!

This is a small hole in the wall bar. But it is great, you have a good time when you go here for drinks. They have good service, good drinks and good music.

this place is awesome i've been going for years, it's a totally chill bar with no pretentious people, down to earth, hella awesome bartenders who make great drinks, good music, overall this place rocks. and it's right in front of a fire station so you have an option of where to drop off the people who can't hold their liquor, haha. seriously this place is awesome.

Sweet Sweet little cave, home away from home..!!!
I've been going to the cave for a few years now and i gots to say i've never felt as home as i do at this bar. This is the only bar that i can go into by MYSELF and feel totally comfortable without my girls or boyfriend. Its hard to find a bar like that as a girl. This is a true neighborhood/non-hollywood/ friendly bar. Now i'm not a highland park local, i used to live in the HLP years ago but now i live in downtown, and this bar is worth my time anytime. I've never met such a fun staff, especially the girl dj caroline. She is what makes weekends at the little cave good times. I've only met her a few times but she totally remembers the songs i request whenever i go. I tried to convince her to dj at one of my house parties but the little cave has her locked on friday nights, and rightfully so.(but if you ever can dj my partys please !! ) They play all different types of music at the cave, even though the 80's are quite popular there, the dj usually has whatever your in the mood for. Now, another thing i love about the cave is the jager bombs... i'm a huge fan of those and on some nights there only $5 bucks...!!! woohooo!!!! Theres an outdoor patio bar that takes cash only, and a huge smoking patio area, i've heard lots of bars in cities are banning smoking, The little cave has a big heated smoking patio. another thing is that i've never have trouble parking, tons of street parking and to top the night off, there's a lady outside selling danger dogs!!! how else could i end the night at the cave any better way, i recommend going to the little cave on Tuesdays for the totally 80's night, and wednesdays for punk rock night and the best night there is Friday. Friday is a high energy fun party night.
my ONLY complaint about the cave is the girls bathroom, theres only one stall and the line does get a lil long on weekends to use it, wish the stalls were bigger. besides that good job!!!!

TO certain people this might be a place full of unatractive people...that just means they dont be long here...Contrary to what comments have been left i'd like to say that ive met great friends at the cave during the last three years and i still talk to them today.... dj, dancing, mingling its all that without the hassle of meeting snobby people that wont talk to you unless you look like a movie star...SO if your down to earth and tired of the "up-scale" crowd this is perfect!

Pros: no cover,always parking,friendly smiles

Cons: every now and then a group of snobs will come in through the door and almost ruin the atmosphere.

The Little Cave truly resembles a cave with its black painted walls and it's coziness. It's a cool spot to hang out if you're in Highland Park for drinks and a fun crowd. They also have drink specials during the week and themed days where you get discounts off your drinks if you're dressed accordingly to their theme. They have a jukebox for your listening pleasure, a patio for smoking and hanging out, and the bartenders are nice too! Just watch out for the bats in the bathroom, they might vant to suck your blood!

I've never been to a bar with so many unattractive people.
The bar itself was a typically lame eastside dump.

Awesome place to hang out with friends and good place to meet news. Awesome music. Bar has two patio areas and of course a dancing floor. Dark and home-like atmosphere, thus the name.

Went here not expecting much but was pleasently suprised. Good Prices, Fun Staff, not what you'd expect. If youre in the area stop by.

I'm not much of a drinker but this bar was really cool. The drinks were good and they weren't overpriced. The bartenders are nice. It gets super crowded sometimes and it's hard to get drinks. But all in all, pretty cool, chill out place to get your drink on with your friends.

I made this the first stop (well...second after La Arca de Noe Pupuseria for dinner and nasty Salvadoran beer) on a recent Highland Park pub crawl. Dark interior, good beer selection, and they even have a Galaga/Pac Man arcade machine! Nice patio as well. Check out my reviews of this and other local establishments at WWW.YORKBLVD

The Little Cave is a great bar to go and hang out with your friends and to also meet new people. Everyone is sooo friendly and the bartenders know exactly what they're doing. I love the fact the bar is nice and dark, the seats are comfy and there are plenty of places to sit. There are no bad attitudes there and it doesn't take forever to get a drink!

My brother brought me here on one of our bar diving nites and it was so cool! Im used to those little neighborhood bars filled with older people but coming in here was a different experience! It didn't even feel like we were in Highland Park! The atmosphere is dark and the place is mod and cool! I need to come back and try their signature drinks because I just stuck to my cranberry-vodka...oh! and they had an old skool video game machine..

i'm a big lover of good bars, and when i find one i like to shout it out to the world. I love the little cave, especially on Tuesdays. The people who go are such a good mix of locals, Hollywood hipsters, and your average joes from all over. I went the last couple of tuesdays and its 80's night. I haven't had that much fun on a tuesday in a very long time. The girl who plays the music is so super cool and down to earth, she tries to play all your requests if you she has them.. they also show 80's movies on tuesdays on the wall, its a good time!!!! Friday nights are so crazy there, i had a great time... i highly recomend this bar to anyone whose sick of snobby unfriendly to cool for you type of bars.... everyone who works there is nice and more than happy to share a shot with you!!! i when you go there, ask for a jager bomb....its the house specialty!!!

The Cave is a dive on some nights and a trendy night spot on others. It's a great bar for smokers. The back patio (for drinking and smoking) is comfortable and pretty roomy and the side patio is also open for smoking (but don't bring your drinks out there after 10pm). The bartenders are great, don't be scared to get their names and make friends. Almost everyone who works there and most of the regulars are friendly and will make you feel welcome. Parking is really simple and usually easy to find, just stay out of parking lots because you will get towed ($200+).

I have been here a few times and all those times I have to admit the DJ really knows his tunes. This is a cool place to just sit back and chat with great background music. The place is kinda small but then again, it is a dive bar! Usually come here to meet up with friends then head out to another bar. They have a small patio in front for the smokers. I dig the whole vampi-rish mood and have indulged in a Count Chocula myself, pretty nice chocolate martini.

I always searched for a place close to home that would be worth coming out of the house on any given night, and I've found it. The place is great, no pretentiousness from the place, the people, the drinks, everything is just right. I'll definitely be making return visits often!
