"pad thai,
The best Thai I've ever had in the U.S. (I've never had Thai food in Thailand...so...). The flavors were killer. Truly the best Pad See Ew I've ever had. Simply delicious.
I wouldn't necessarily grab a bite there unless I was on the early side of opening. There are only so many seats. We actually called in our order mid-week and I picked up to go.
It was crowded by 645. I could see my to-go order and waited 5 minutes for them to get organized enough to take my money.
The only tricky part is parking. TIP: park across Lincoln in Golden Gate park, take the cross walk and you're there (you'll only be 100 yards away). SOOOO much easier than trying to park on 9th.
We also got the sea bass with garlic. Yum.
Going back for sure. The best Thai in the city for the same price you'd get, too. That Khoi Monkey place doesn't even come close. (except for ambiance...the Monkey place in SOMA has better ambiance).

This summer I went to Thailand, it was my first trip. At that time I eat Thai food, I loved it. After coming to my home town I feel like eating Thai food again. After a long search I got Marnee Thai Restaurant. Here I found the same food which I eat in Thailand. Cool Restaurant, Nice Atmosphere, Perfect Service. I am very very happy as if, I feel like I?m eating food in Thailand.

Whoa! Look out for those little red peppers. I love spicy food, but these little critters have a huge bang! I was sent here by one of my bosses and i loved it. (Plus the waiter was kind of cute! :0) I highly recommend the basil chicken!
5Marnee Thai is a decent sized restaurant located between Irving and Lincoln. The restaurant is fairly new so the interior is pretty nice (purple filled). The parking really bites on Irving St, so don't expect to find great parking! My family used to come here so often that the boss would call my dad "the king". The angel wings here are to die for. They don't compare to anyone else's. I would come here just for that reason alone. The food is all around good. The service is excellent and the restaurant itself is clean.

This restaurant was adorable; the interior is very authentic looking. The servings were also really generous and pricing was reasonable. Three of us shared two orders and were stuffed.
4I love love love the angel wings and the sticky rice with mango dessert - SO GOOD! Everytime I eat here (which has been about once a week lately..), I order those two dishes along with a noodle or curry dish and they never disappoint me! Portions are pretty big too - I can never finish my food! Great prices and amazing thai food!

I very much enjoyed this restaurant. The portions were rather small, and the service a bit unreliable (it took us awhile for the food to come), but the ingredients were fresh, and the atmosphere was quite chill. Another Inner Sunset gem.
4Went to Marnee Thai due to Zagat reviews and friend's recommendations and it was the best. I recently traveled to Thailand and the pad thai's and angel wings there were not as tasteful as Marnee's. The owner might seem outspoken but once you get to know them, they greet you with a warm and loud greeting! The service is fast and the food is delicious. Been back to both locations ever since. So come with a big appetite for fast service and amazing food!!!!

Living in the bay area, I have eaten at many Thai restaurants. I can honestly say Marnee Thai has the best Thai food I have ever eaten. Both locations! On top of that, this place has won more awards worldwide than any Thai restaurant I know of, including an award specifically for Pad Thai, which was won in Thailand!!!!!!! Anytime I think about going out for Asian cuisine, my first thought is here. The only time I WONT eat here is when I've had it the night before! Two thumbs up!

Pros: Best Thai food in the world, literally
Cons: Only 2 known locations worldwide, makes me hungry to think about it
I love the food here and it is nice and spicy! The appetizers are so delicious especially the imperial and summer rolls. I love the sauces that accompany the dishes especially the peanut sauces. There is only one problem it is the service cause they are too fast that sometimes you cannot finish your appetizers before your entrees. The place does get crowded but it is worth the wait!

Pros: Appetizers, food, location
Cons: service, parking
I've eaten at many good restaurants in the Irving area before, but I made arrangements a week prior to my visit for a party of 20 because their website said they had a small banquet room. The staff were extremely helpful. They worked within our budget and e-mailed me a set menu for both the vegetarians and non-vegetarians in our group. We had mango salad, green beens, curry, fish, chicken wings, and roti dessert. Everyone could not stop saying how good the dinner and dessert was, and the portions were so generous that we took home several boxes of leftovers. I will definitely come back again the next time I'm near Irving.

Pros: Thai Food, Service
Cons: None
I have been coming to Marnee Thai for years and their food is consistently wonderful and the service is very quick and friendly. I strongly recommend this place.
All I can say is that everytime my family or friends come to San Francisco, we always have to stop by Marnee Thai Restaurant either the one on Irving or the one on 9th Ave.
Marnee Thai is the best Thai food in the BAY AREA. I am not surprised that they won so many competitions. Marnee Thai food is to die for and very authentic and inexpensive.

from all the great reviews i decided to give this restaurant a try. i had the calamari salad, pork green curry, and the bbq chicken. The bbq chicken was the best tasting of the three dishes. calamari salad didn't have that kick (usually a strong sour and spicy taste) like what i'm used to and the green curry was very bland. as for service, one of the worst i've experienced at a restaurant. our dish were taken away though we were not done eating, and after our meal we were asked to leave because of waiting patrons outside. i do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. there are plenty of good thai restaurants in the city that i would recommend, Ohsa is one.

Pros: quick service, nice atmosphere
Cons: dishes i tried were average at best. below average service.
Service is excellent, especially the owner is very nice. I love the all the food we had especially Phad Thai and Tom Yum Koong. Very friendly service and we love the atmosphere very much. We will be their regular customers for sure.

Pros: Very good atmosphere, parking is not a problem for us at all.
My friends and I had a chance to visit Manee Thai on 9th avenue last week. Their waitress kindly seated us at the beautiful back room where will be opened only the place is filled. It was a busy night, so many people enjoyed their time along with wonderful meals. We tried angle wings and corn cakes as our appetizers. They made us stunned when they served them !! Good texture and the taste is definetly good. The entr'ees are wordless too describe; fortunately, we didn't miss the Mango sticky rice and Fried banana with ice-cream which they call FBI. I just wonder when will they have IRS. I will personally eat the whole plate of it : )

Cons: Parking
I having been living in the neighborhood for over 28 years...and since Marnee Thai opened, I have been a loyal customer. Being Thai myself, I can say that the Thai food is authentic. It's as flavorful and delicious as it is back home. The herbs and spices are fresh and sauces for the various dishes are exceptional. I love the setting--it is cozy and beautifully decorated. The papaya salad and angel wings are soooo good! I highly recommend Marnee Thai to individuals, couples, and families.

Great for take-out or dining in. Be sure to try the angel wings. Or if you're more adventurous, the banana blossom salad.

I'm curious about the excellent ratings. It's entirely possible I'm not getting the right dishes. The lemongrass/coconut milk soup is unparalleled, but the curries seem a bit less fragrant and complex than some other local places, and the Pad Thai I had last week seemed like noodles sauteed with sweet & sour sauce. My girlfriend thought it was good b/c it was bland and easy on her sick stomach that day. I've only tried the 9th Ave place, and only a few times. I keep getting disappointed. If you're coming from out of town, I agree that this is good, flavorful food. But for local Thai, it's average at best. Better options in the Haight or even nearby.

Pros: 3 blocks from me; killer soup
Cons: Boring and bland noodle dishes and curries
The service is very friendly, the decor is very exotic, and the food is absolutely delicious. I've been coming here since i was a child, and the food has even improved since then. The best thai cuisine in San Francisco period.

Marnee Thai is the best Thai restaurant in the city. The food is very delicious and authentic. I am from Thailand so I know what the real Thai food is. I strongly recommend this place for Thai food lovers. The ambiance is very nice and clean, the service is quick and friendly. They offer several ancient dishes that you hardly find at any other Thai restaurants. I am not surprised that they won competitions both in Los Angeles and in Thailand and for the long list of awards that they have received. This is a must try restaurant!!! They also have banquet room for private party.

The service was amazing. Great Thai food! I enjoy every dish I ordered. There was a back room for large parties.

I live a block away from Marnee and fo awhile I went there every day. Ive tried to limit my visits to once a week but it's pretty difficult. The food is amazing. My extremely picky fiancee has never disliked a dish she has ordered. A first for any eating establishment. The staff are nice and the food is resonably priced. The smell of garlic that greats you at the door is so good that when you leave you almost want to go to back for more. I love Marnee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marnee Thai is the best Thai restaurant in San Francisco. I have lived five blocks from the Irving St. location for the past 14 years, and have fallen madly in love with it. Not only is the atmosphere cozy and exotic, but the food is delicious. Some of my favorites include the Imperial Roles, similar to spring roles, Yellow Curry, String Beans in Chile paste, and the seasonal desert Mango and sticky rice. I would enthusiastically recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Pros: Food, Ambiance, Low Price
Cons: Bad Parking, Crowded, Small
We dined here a couple of yrs back when they opened this 2nd restaurant. We found the portions small even if it was good. THis time, we had takeout. The Pad Thai is always good, didn't like the Thai fried rice that much. The takeout portions seem larger than dining in. The Chicken Param was fine as was a Tofu vegt dishe w/peanut sauce. The mango with sticky rice was served w/a creamy coconut juice. There were crunchy sm yellow grains of rice mixed into the sticky rice for an interesting texture. They're giving a 10% discount thru the end of this month for their 20th anniversary. Even so, the bill for 6 orders of food came to $47.

Pros: good food, popular , good Pad Thai
Cons: parking
Food is good, but because they're always so crowded, the service is horrible and frantic. Not worth it for the service aggravations.

This place is always busy, and I can see why. The food here is very good, especially their angel wings which is superb and melts in your mouth. Their other dishes are not as spectacular, but still very delicious. It has a nice atmosphere, although it is very small, which partly explains the wait.
