May I suggest a coffee shop and a florist since fish are deader than the dead flowers?
I have a small investment in fish for my apartment and I love flowers. I thought this would be my one stop shop, but seriously this pairing doesn't seem

I live in Virginia and have purchased goldfish here a few times and had them shipped home as luggage. For the size and price this place charges, it is hard to beat. Petsmart and other stores in VA charge at least $25 for one lousy goldfish. This store even has the NYC Chinatown goldfish store beat; however, the NYC does carry other types of goldfish that 6th Ave does not. For $7 a piece, anyone living in the bay area can afford to lose one ore two. Other than Hong Kong and China fish shops, I know of no other store that sells such large goldfish for so cheap.

WOW, I'm so glad to see that I am not the only one out there that has gotten ripped off by these people! In addition to buying homely fishes that died, I had purchased two 70 gallon fish tanks from him and 4 months later one of them

Cons: Bad service, cheap tanks that are guaranteed to flood your place, dead fishes, and an owner who gets off on ripping people off

I have found the staff helpful and knowledgeable and are able to answer questions about equipment set-up. I have consistently found that this store has the best selection of goldfish in the San Francisco Bay area and have regular shipments to ensure new stock and variety. In comparing breed characteristics of the various goldfish types on the Internet, their goldfish have representatives from most types exhibiting desired breed characteristics - as compared to the chain pet stores that primarily stock culled non-show quality goldfish. As many of the goldfish are in small tanks, it appears that they have adequate filtration as I don't see the fish gasping for air or darting about. As best practices for aquarists includes quarantining new fish in a separate tank before putting in the aquarist' intended tank for antibiotic treatment and observation, it appears that fish bought this store - as any other - would also be recommended to help their transition and protect the established fish from any new diseases. This store has the best prices around for equipment and hard to find filters.

If you are a new comer to tropical fish or salt water fish, you'll probably do better elsewhere because the fish stocked here are usually very weak, physically, and they probably won't survive in your tank for too long unless you really know what you're doing.

If you don't know how to adjust your tank's pH, don't know a nitrate from ammonia or what a gH reading is, don't go here.

If you are a seasoned aquarium person, you'll stand a better chance at keeping the usually inexpensive fish alive. As for the supplies, they can be pretty cheap if you know what current prices are running at. The shop is crowded and small, but you get a chance to view all the different kinds of fish they have there without any hassle.

Downstairs is where you'll find fish food, accessories, and books. Upstairs you'll find more fish and where they stock most of their aquariums. But by the amount of dust found on most of the tanks, it looks like most of them have been sitting there for quite a long time. Go to Petsmart for a cheap 10 gallon kit. It'll be cleaner and you can return it if there's a problem.

The owners of the place like really loud crappy rap music, so bring your earplugs because the guys have absolutely no taste in music at all and have speakers that pump this garbage all throughout the store.

Overall, you stand a 50/50 chance of being satisfied there. Not a place for newbies.

Very interesting shop... The prices and selection on all of the fish are tough to beat. I question the quality of the livestock just because of the crammed areas they are kept and volume of turnover. The prices on the products/accessories are very competitive. The customer service there lacks big time! I prefer quality of fish and service at Lucky Ocean Store on Balboa St.Dave

I'm a hardcore hobbyist or like to consider myself as one and know many of the well reputed pet stores in the bay area. Sixth Avenue Aquarium has a huge selection of fish from salt to fresh water. The second floor has a little more fish but more supplies and accessories. The prices are pretty cheap here and I like to buy my supplies here when I'm in the area.

this aquarium/ flower shop located on 6th ave and clement is known already by most fish hobbyist. the prices on livestock and equipment is by far one of the cheapest in san francisco. however, livestock require extra care and are more likely to die compared to other stores that charge more. each sunday there is a "bag sale" on newly imported saltwater fish. i recommend this store for cheap equipment, but buyer beware on livestock

This store is in Clement street area. They get really good business in this store. I love their setup and arrangement of the fish tanks as well as the lighting of them. It makes it seem like you really are in an aquarium. They have many different kinds of fish. Stop by and check it out, you'll be in for a treat!

This is a great place to shop for your fish supply needs. There are a variety of rare fishes, and plants available for sale, and one of the most unique collection of fish in San Francisco. The store feels cramped, but the with the wide selection of fish, it's a real treat to come to the store and see for yourself.

I just bought four freshwater fish here. One I had to return because I was told that it wouldn't grow too big for my tank and that it would get along fine with little fish. When I got it home and researched it on the internet, I discovered

They have great prices on everything from fishes to equipement. Its a little cluttered but what isn't in San Francisco right? Service is ok but I think they need a few more employees. Location and parking is just like San Francisco so don't be surprised. Its worth paying a visit to and checking out the other stores close by.

When I have purchased fish here they are usually all dead within a day. The tanks are overstocked and if it was any other animals they would be cited. I really feel sorry for the fish there ... jammed in tanks swimming around with dead

This store has a variety of fish and fish related products (fish food, tanks, plants for your aquarium, etc.) The prices of the items are cheaper than most places. The service is alright, they know fish, and the place looks pretty clean. The place is pretty easy to find, but parking is not. Overall I would give this place 4 stars.

Actually, I've only gone here looking for aquariums and supplies, but their selection of fish is pretty dazzling, and their prices (especially for the eternally expensive San Francisco area) are quite good. I found the staff to be helpful almost to a fault. Next time I need anything for my water turtles, I'm heading here. Definitely.

Anyone who raises fish in San Francisco knows about this place. This place sells fish and supplies cheap; this is not including their early bird specials. They carry everything from fresh to saltwater fish. Once a year they will even get the venders out there and have a street fair.
