This place is awesome. The bakery is actually inside the restaurant where the food is great too. The bakery serves the biggest portions of dessert I have ever seen. The six layer cakes are awesome as well as the other pastries they offer. I love this place.

Flames is located in South San Jose directly off of Hillsdale Blvd. The bakery part is in the front of the diner and there is usually someone manning the counter for you to place your order. I went in recently to order a burnt almond cake which costed about $40 The cakes are huge and serve about 20 people each. I also usually order the raspberry cheese cake which costs about $20, In addition to their cakes they also offer pies by the slices and I recommend their apple pie for a great treat. The cakes, pies and pastries are available with a 24 hour notice but walkins usually have a good selection to choose from.
PROS: Huge cakes at reasonable prices
CONS: Towards closing the pickings on desserts are very slim

Oh my goodness, you've never tasted such amazing carrot cake as here. The cakes are HUGE. The prices are great. The staff are so friendly (and not just kids getting extra money on a weekend). They always have a great selection of cakes, which you can buy by the slice or a whole cake. The place is very clean and there's tons of parking.
