It doesn't matter what you get when you eat at Shiso's - it's all great! If you've never tried the clay pot cuisine - you've got to! They've got a lot to choose from on the menu - it's going to be hard to pick just one thing.

get the party platter-- soup, salad, special rolls and nigiri or sashimi. Such a good deal! We've never been disappointed or spent more than $15 per person, the service is friendly and fast. I hesitate to recommend it because i don't want it to get too popular!!!

Pros: freshness, friendly prompt service, variety

Cons: not as close to my house as I wish!

Located near Cortland St. and Bernal Heights on Mission Street , Shiso combines a Sushi bar with some traditional chinese and japanese style dishes in a small storefront location. The sushi is always fresh and the dishes are always served piping hot and delicious with complimentary soup (specify egg drop if you have a problem with eel, that's right, eel soup). I haven't tried everything here (I mean to!) but a favorite of mine is the Triple Crowns. This crown is bejeweled with sliced chicken, beef & prawns with fried scallions, ginger and clear garlic sauce. A hint of sweetness balances the garlic-heavy sauce. Shiso is absolutely outstanding. The service is so intuitive it would be creepy, were the staff not as likable as they are. Prices are highly reasonable as well, with many dishes priced around $7. We did have a problem with delivery once, food arrived late and probably because of this, cold. Didn't seem like it came from the same place. But we are always highly satisfied by the in-house Shiso experience. Check it out!

Pros: great food reasonably priced, ecclectic menu.

Cons: seating is limited, one bad delivery experience

If you're in the mood for some great Chinese food...order here. I've never been in, but order take out all the time. They have really good veggie dishes... my favorite is the General Tsao's meatless chicken. The service is prompt, friendly, and efficient.

I've never actually eaten inside Shiso, but I order food for delivery from them about once a week - sometimes more. Their food is very authentic, well-prepared and doesn't include MSG. They don't require a minimum order on deliveries and they offer free dishes if you order $16 or more. The staff and delivery persons at Shiso have always been kind and quick, and they never make mistakes on orders. The next time you're in the mood for great Chinese food, order from Shiso!

P.S. Their peking duck is fantastic!
