J.C. is great. The food, service, and cuisine are just what you would expect. There are a lot of Indian restaurants and this is one of the best.

Service started off shakily and became worse as the evening went on. The waiter seemed to lose interest in us after we ordered the food. The 'Dinner' system involved having sides of rice, substandard dal and some mixed vegetables that

I recently ordered the cheese naan for the first time, and to be honest--I can't imagine ordering any other naan ever again. I'm craving it right now.
4The Chilean Sea Bass almost made me pass out because it was so Delicious. We even saw Barbara Streisand. WHAT A TREAT! HIGHLY recommended!

We ordered a take away and it was good... But then it should be at just over $50 for two! Food came quickly from the Santa Monica branch and was warm, that hardly ever happens! We did order very early though before 6pm. It tasted fresh

We live local and go here often. Food and vibe are both good. Pretty sure the place is owned by a couple of brothers-- the older one seems cool, the younger one isn't great. Just as well, I suppose, getting in isn't usually a problem.

Ok...food is awesome. Staff is a bit slow and the food will take a bit. I've tried most of the entrees on the menu and they are all wonderful! Hope you like spice because the food has a BIG kick to them!

Akbar is far from authentic Indian food. I see a lot of hash browns being used camouflaged in curry (try the malai kofta or papdi chat for that). Dinner at Akbar is a complete rip-off. The restaurant needs to add some more veggie dishes

Akbar has very authentic, affordably priced Indian food. We love their curries and their homemade breads. They will custom make your curry to be as mild or spicy as you like. The waiters are very friendly. Prices are reasonable. Ample FREE parking.

Take-out or dine in and try the garlic naan, curry shrimp, mint chutney and chicken tikka, lentil soup, and spinach and cheese. Ive never been disappointed.
4Best Indian food I've found in the Mar Vista/Marina del Rey area. Added bonus: I never make a reservation, I typically go there on a whim, and I've never waited for a table. Try the Chicken Kati Rolls and the Chicken Tikka Masala. Although he can sometimes border on over-solicitous, the host/owner always makes you feel at home.
