Quite a nice bookstore, well-stocked, with knowledgeable clerks, decent coffee etc. upstairs. If only I could forget that Sisterhood Bookstore, one of the oldest feminist bookstores in L.A., used to be across the street, and this store helped drive it out of business! (Sisterhood's old location is occupied, ironically enough, by Box Brothers now.)

This place is like a warehouse of books... it has a great selection of anything from fiction to history books. Also, there are usually monthly book signings by literary celebrities, which is pretty cool for those who get starstruck by authors. The coffee shop (Seattle's Best) upstairs is a nice place to study for collegians in the area, though it can get pretty crowded during weeknights.

Pros: a varied selection, book signings, studying environment

Cons: pricey parking, sometimes crowded
