A lot of folks really like Ikea, and I have tried, but I really haven't found much stuff that I like. I can usually find similarly priced stuff (or stuff that is a wee bit more expensive but is of much greater quality) at other stores, so I don't see the appeal here. There are certain things like some of the household items on the lower floors that are reasonably priced and worthwhile. Be sure to check out the kitchen and miscellaneous stuff on the lower level as well as the discount furniture section right before you check out.

IKEA is a great store for furnishing every room in your apartment or house. They set up mock rooms with all their products and it's a lot of fun to go through all the rooms. The products are pretty inexpensive. If you purchase large items, like furniture, you have to get it from the warehouse yourself. But, when you're done lifting there is a little caf near the check out to reward yourself with a hot cinnamon roll.

I remember being in graduate school and turning to IKEA as my savior when I needed modern-looking furniture at reasonable prices. I don't have the same financial restrictions now, but I still shop at the Burbank IKEA! I love how they put together complete showroom displays so that you know how to combine pieces of furniture and decorations. You can get all kinds of geometric and funky necessities as well as accesories and exras. I disagree with another member's comments that your purchases won't last- I have had a metal and glass bookshelf I bought there for years and it looks great. BONUS- great prices on tealights! The parking lot across the street has ample spaces but you can park right next the check out for 30 minutes. Unfortunately, it can be hard to track down an employee and you need to assemble most items yourself at home.

IKEA is awesome if you're trying to save money on furniture. They have TONS of stuff. This place is huge. It's almost overwhelming. Don't even go through the door unless you've got at least an hour to shop, because it just kind of sucks you in. There is so much to look at. Their furniture seems to be of very low quality, though. I guess you get what you pay for.

The quintissential cool-affordable-furnishings-for-people-recently-out-of-college store.

Ikea has some very cool--and very inexpesive--home furnishings. I love walking through the different displays and seeing what kind of designs people come up with.

The lower level has all sorts of kitchenware, utensils, artwork, plants ... all for decent prices.

Be careful--this place is like a maze, and if you don't pay attention to your bearings, you'll wind up stuck for thirty minutes!

IKEA is a great place to shop for all of your houseware needs. They've got a variety of stuff for the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and every other room of the house. I'm not sure I'd buy furniture there as it's overpriced for the quality you get, but it's got great prices on lamps, candles, accessories, dishes, plants and more. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to shop, because there is more than one level to the store and it can be overwhelming if it's your first time.

For everyone living on a budget. Clean, neat, cheap, fun, cheap, easy to assemble, cheap. Its a great place for furnishing your place in or just out of college. Their couches aren't that comfortable but I love their shelving and organization for your bedroom. The best part is to walk around the showroom to see the various ideas put together. Parking is a pain and you need a friend so they can stay with your stuff as you pull around the car. Parking is particularly crazy at this location, since you have to go back out onto San Fernando. Hit this place during the week to avoid crowds.

The prices of Ikea is awesome. You can buy a lot of home furniture, frames, dishware here for really cheap. The quality of their products are not good. Well I guess that is what you get for the price you pay. If you are looking not to spend a lot then go here but your stuff will not last

If you like poorly constructed furniture you have to assemble yourself and you love funny Swedish names for products, IKEA is your place. I like IKEA because you can get a lot of furniture and decorations there at relatively low prices. I dislike IKEAbecause the quality of products tends to be low, and because it takes forever to navigate through the store. This place is enormous, and it's set up like a maze inside, so that you have to walk through miles of corridors and look at every item they sell on your way from the entrance to the checkout and exit. IKEA isn't just a store; it's an experience.

I go to Ikea a couple of times a year when I'm in a decorating mood. Sometimes I browse the showrooms for ideas; sometimes I heard straight downstairs to the shopping area. Items are fun, unique, and priced nicely.

My only complaint about Ikea, and it's a big one, is that you can't bring shopping carts to the parking area. Given the selection of merchandise, it's hard NOT to buy more than you can carry. If you go with someone you can have them watch over the goods while you bring your car to the loading area, but if you shop alone you could be in trouble.

I would think the store would benefit from some kind of system that allows people the freedom to shop for everything they can get their hands on AND make it convenient to get it to their cars.

I'm sure they have a lot of neat things, if you can manuver yourself around to see them! The place is so confusing! Just the way it's layed out, you can't find your way around. I had to load an 8 foot cabinet in my car and the man that helped me was trying to be helpful but was insistant that he couldn't physically help me for liability reasons. So he "coached" me while I struggled with the bookcase. That was the only time I"ve been there, and I probably won't go back.

Ikea has provided cheap and stylish furniture
for people that don't want to spend too much money
and still want something that looks decent. Ikea is absolutely great for secondary furnishings or
for stuff that will fill a room in a pinch or even for those who don't feel a special attachment to their furniture.

But in retrospect I would buy my main items
somewhere else if you want soemthing durable.
And by all means try to NOT go to shop alone
or you will be limited to small items if you don't
want to have stuff delivered. You need a driver and someone to help you pack and build the bigger
pieces of furniture. In the Burbank location, this is a critical piece of advice.

Excitement Galore... I love Ikea. For the FANTASTISK napkins? Doubt it. For the BURSJÖN stool with storage? Nah... Ikea is good for the heart... Do your shopping, but intentionally forget that Kitchen towel rack on the top floor. Then get to the checkout line and say a little prayer. Now, walk as fast as you can back up to the top floor kitchen section. Sounds easy.... but the way that traffic flows in that place is like riding a beach cruiser against traffic on the 110 freeway. Walk fast, anticipate the moves of people, find the shortcuts thru the picture frame section, ignore the grunts and glares of those you just cut off and leap high and fast over the small children that are dressed by their designer parents to look like mushroom fairies and oompa loompas. Makes for a great workout... We are all swedish champions!!!

..HEADACHE!! That's right. Shoppers, like little ants running around a wharehouse full of furniture with names you can't pronounce and employees who can't understand you unelss you can.
The designers know what they are doing there. Each model room is exactly what you want your place to look like, but you don't have creativity like that. That's why you go to Ikea. That's why EVERYONE goes to Ikea.
There's not enough walking space though. I don't think they realised that this store would attract the same kind of people that go ga-ga over car accidents on the freeway and back everything up like the lines for a women's restroom with only one stall.
AVOID IKEA RUSH HOUR!! Visit the store on a weekday.

I got my first apartment 2 years ago and at the time i was broke and had nothing but a bed to my name. My roomate told me about ikea. SO we went and my mouth was dropped to the floor in complete shock! It was huge and so nealty put together. It's fun to just get lost in all the model rooms and displays and imagine what it would be like if that was your room. The prices are very affordable and alot of the big furniture(couches and beds) are so easy to load and build even if you don't have your dad to help. Quality? well its a nice start but this stuff is not for keepers..

OK. Sorry, YES cheap!!! In every way! I bought a chest of drawers for my sweats and "smalls". It was about $250. Within two weeks, the drawer that only had socks in it, decided it could NOT cope with the pressure, and the bottom fell out!!!! The rest of the drawers soon followed! Stay Away!

Ikea is best at accessories. I can get tons of things for my kitchen and patio. Linens are cheap and rugs and pillows as well. Stock up on candles and other little necessities. I like their furniture as well, but I'll admit, some of the styles are a bit spotty. But you can pretty much guess which ones will fall apart and which ones won't by the floor samples. Their dinning room chairs and tables are fantastic.

I got into my first apartment almost 2 years ago. I had never known of IKEA before this so when I walked in I couldn't believe what I was missing. IKEA in Tustin turned into my home away from home for the first 6 months. I love it! They have everything you need and don't need. :)

This is a nice place to shop when you want to funish an apartment and you don't own a thing. The furniture is cheap but does look nice. It's also great for collecge students.

We bought my daughters a few pieces from this place and we are still using them. I especially like this store for storage ideas, candles, knick knacks, etc.

The only downfall is the customer service. It is non-exsistent, but then I guess that's why their merchandise can be sold for less.

When my husband and I got our first real apartment, we needed some furniture. Ikea was our first choice, since they have decent stuff at reasonable prices. We went one day and selected the items we liked. We went back the next week with a pickup to make our pruchases. Getting help was pretty difficult, even though we were planning on spending a big chunk of cash. At one point we got someone to come and help us by sitting in rolling office chairs and playing a human bowling game in the office supplies area. That got someone over. Be sure to ask about sale items, and examine how things are built before you buy them (some pieces are sturdier than others). Don't overlook the kitchenware and housewares sections; they have some great deals on some interesting stuff.

I agree with the person who said that furniture should last longer. Then again, if you're just starting out (college student, first real apartment, etc, just married), you don't have that many options. My theory is just not to spend too much money on stuff that you know isn't going to last. So don't buy on the high end of IKEA stuff. But there are some great deals to be found there. It's a decent and cheap way to furnish, decorate and accentuate your house. Be advised though that most, if not all, of the furniture requires assembly. Also, I think the beds are an unusual size, so if you purchase one there, then know that the only place you can buy sheets for it is also at IKEA.

Everyone talks about the great furniture at IKEA, but I've never found their stuff to be worth the money. I expect furniture to last longer than a year or two, especially if I'm investing my money into a large expenditure. I do, however, find IKEA a great place for purchasing bed/bath items, kitchen accessories and decor for the home. They sell some amazing area rugs, bed linens, and everyday dinnerware. You can also put together a nice housewarming gift basket for a reasonable price just touring those few areas. The parking at this location can be a little mind boggling if you don't know the area, but I suggest you park as close to the escalator as possible. If not, you'll be running all over the parking lot trying to find the entrance to the store.

We have gotten a lot of furniture at Ikea over the years. Their lines are European contemporary, and we love their designs and functionality. You do have to self-assemble most of the pieces, but I don't mind. Their prices are good and they have a great selection. I love walking around the store just to get home-decorating ideas.

IKEA has found a way to sell design oriented furniture at a VERY reasonable price. They also introduce new products every year, keeping their product line fresh. The only catch is that much of their furniture comes in boxes and requires a lot of patience and time to put together.
