JoAnn started as mainly a fabric store and it continues to have that as well as sewing supplies and patterns, but recently they have upgraded their selection and now have many craft supplies, party supplies and other household items. If you sign up online you can get on their mailing list and will be mailed 40% off coupons every two weeks as well. They have a pretty good selection of yarn, knitting and beading supplies which is why I go. They also have knitting books, which are somewhat hidden near the sewing patterns.

This fabric store has a very broad selection of fabrics. Youll not be disappointed if you are looking for home furnishings, dress material and upholstery. The staff is knowledgeable, often giving very good advice. Also, if you are a knitter this is a good place to find everything you need. Do sign up online or at the store to receive special offers. You can end up with quite a bargain that way. Overall, very good prices and knowledgeable friendly service. The San mateo store is better than the redwood city one in terms of collection and organization.
