I don't usually order pepperoni pizza it's too common. But they have it available by the slice. It is about the best you'll find anywhere.
Thin and delicious. Better than many others I've tried.
The calzone is a meal for two. Fantastic.

This ex-New Yorker was pretty happy to find Al's. They have really good basic Italian Take-out food, and the pizza is very, very good. They really do care, they'll appreciate the local business and you'll feel like family. Great bread too. In a sea of mediocre California pizza, this place is light-years above, nothing else come close within miles.

Al's is a little hole-in-the-wall take out place with really good food.Authentic, New-York style pizza by the slice, calzone, sandwiches and a variety of excellent pasta dishes. They also do catering and local delivery.

Al's is about as big as your patio at home, but it is busy ALL the time. They have great specials and you can get pizza by the slice. If they have the ingredient, just ask and they will put it on your pizza for you.

I was first introduced to Al's Cafe at my company Christmas party. He was our carter for the party and I have to say I was sooo impressed. I couldn't get enough of his food. It wasn't only me, every person at the party kept going back for seconds, even thirds. It may be a small establishment, something that the people of Orange County aren't necessarily used to, but give it once chance, and I garuantee, you'll be hooked! I eat there at least 2 times a week.

I am an individual involved in a large group delivery order from Al's on a bi-monthly basis. However, more recently, their delivery service has gone down the drain. The young lady who first took our order spoke too fast. And then in order to use multiple coupons, we had to place 2 orders, so I made the second call and spoke with Al. He could not have been any more rude, he told me he was "losing money on people using the coupons" and that "we had better have the correct change ready for the delivery person this time or they won't deliver to us again." Who cares that we didn't have the proper change because his delivery guy didn't have any change to give us! Well, Al, no worries, because we won't be ordering again...and yes, you are losing money because you won't be getting ours anymore.

Al's is tucked behind the Blockbuster / La Cave restaurant building at the intersection of Irvine Avenue and 17th Street, next door to the 7-Eleven. I developed my craving for Al's Greek Special pizza even before I moved back to California from the East Coast. For years I would come out from Washington, DC for an annual visit with my family and each visit would at some point involve a stop at Al's for some delicious take out! I'm not big on the sandwiches, but the Deluxe Green salad and Extra-large (yes, you NEED the XL) Greek Special pizza are proof of heaven on earth. My brother-in-law is also quite partial to the Pepperoni pizza. Al's is a laid back local place and they've kept me in carbohydrates for many years now - fantastic food in a non-generic joint. Enjoy!

PROS: Pizza, Pizza, Pizza (oh, and salad)! Excellent flavor!
CONS: If you want it delivered on peak hours, you may have to wait a bit.

The best NY-style pizza (thin crust, large slices) and it's pretty cheap too. I love being back in NY and just grabbing a slice here and there and Al's is the only pizza place I've been too around here that actually tastes like pizza that you got at Ray's or some other pizzeria in New York City. I also like the pastas here which are pretty cheap and large portions (and come with a salad and garlic bread). Great take-out dinner or quick lunch.

Everything at Al's is tasty. The Al's special pizza is the best. Good sandwiches and pasta too. Been eating there for over 10 years! Not really a place you eat at, but good for take out or delivery.

Al's has about the closest to real New York style Pizza on the west coast and it is absolutely delicious. The Lasagna is great too! Very informal atmosphere and comfortable.
