Went there a few times and always had the best time. Place is quiet, nice big tables with privacy. The staff were the best. The food is the best and they have excellent drinks too. Only negative is the parking, and if your on a budget, dont go. Highly recommended Italian Food.

Pros: Food is first rate, service cant be beat
Cons: Parking can be difficult
Sorry to say that this landmark has just gone downhill since management has changed. We were addicted to Hoboken for over 20 years, but have been disappointed over and over again for the past year. Ordered takeout last night and ended up putting it into the garbage disposal.
Great memories, but I'm moving on..

Pros: Pleasant Past Memories
Cons: Food Has Gone Downhill
My folks used to love Matteo's Hoboken and when we went a couple of times, well, it was good, but not great. Since they sold the place a while ago, we have stopped going and so have my folks.
2We've been going to Hoboken for about 10 years. Stopped in this week for a quick dinner, with their stuffed artichoke at the top of the list. When the waiter brought it to the table, I had to ask "what is this?" Their artichokes were always stuffed with seasoned bread crumbs just the way I grew up in NY eating them. This had a white cap on it (?). When I asked what it was, the waiter replied it was stuffed with egg and cheese. Since when? He said they changed their recipe about two months ago (but they haven't changed the menu description). Sent it back. Their portions used to be huge (no more). Agree with past reviews that whatever it is they serve with the bread is unidentifiable and best avoided. Oh, and the topper? The artichoke charge ($8.95 no less!) was on my bill until I pointed it out to the waiter. 10 years of good memories gone in one night. Will not be back.

Pros: No wait
Cons: Food/waitstaff
If you are ever running late and feel like grabbing some really good Italian stop by Hoboken on Westwood Blvd. The soup, pizza, sandwiches, and pasta will make you smile. I believe the General Manager there is named Linda and she goes the extra mile to make sure everone is happy. If they do not have it on the menu chances are they can get it for you at Mattoes and bring it to you. I always have a nice experience there with the wait staff also but I believe this l starts from Hoboken's managemnt.
Give it a try.

My friend and I often drove by and wondered how the food was, and we finally went in last night! The food was definitely reasonably priced for the (authentically Italian) huge portions they gave! The service wasn't super speedy but it definitely wasn't slow, and the servers were attentive. The ambience was alright, there was a couple of flickering lights, but overall, a very good experience.

Hoboken's is rad! I had the best pasta primivera. The wine fantastic and crumble feta cheese pizza was out of this world! I'm going to go here a lot more. what a hidden little treasure!

Even though the rest of their food is great, why would I ever order anything but the lasagna
