I am very pleased to bring my animals here. Not only are they reactive towards my pets' current condition but also, preventative care.

Very good animal doctors here. Only want the best for their patients and their owners. Would only bring Goldie to them.

She sent us home with antibiotics and even called the next day to check up on Zeek. Zeek was in great hands and is healing nicely. I'm sure if he saw the doctor again, he'd want to give her a big sloppy kiss.

This place is incredible. The staff here are friendly, attentive, fast, and professional. With pet insurance so expensive these days, and most vets charging more to see your cat or dog than your own doctor would to see you, this place is a blessing.

My 10 year old cat stopped eating suddenly, was diagnosed as terminal a week later. Dr. Bregitzer and the assistant were caring, kind and completely willing to allow me to say my final goodbyes. The cost was totally reasonable, although that was never an issue. Hope I never have to see them again, but would trust them ANYTIME! They are the BEST! Hope you're never in this situation but if you are, you know where to turn.

We came home late in the afternoon to a very sick and lethargic cat. Being new to the area, We hadn't decided on a vet yet and found Columbine Animal Hospital referred by my co-worker. We walked-in and were immediately seen. All of the staff and doctors were all very sweet and attentive and Dr. Bregitzer was wonderful! My kitty is resting comfortably and in much better condition and we have found our new vet.

I've been taking my dog to Columbine Animal Hospital for several years and I love the entire office. The vaccination clinic is a great time and money saver but I've also been in for emergency appointments. But the entire staff was so great about making me feel at peace with my decision (it just meant slower healing time and more work on my part) and called periodically to check on the dog's progress. My heart and the dog's wound healed fine. I highly recommend taking your pet here.

Dr. Bregitzer and the staff are the best. They are caring, thorough, gentle and clearly very experienced. I've brought a few different dogs in, and each time it's more obvious that he speaks their language. He never pushes expensive treatments or unnecessary tests on my dogs like other vets I've been to, and he always explains the treatment options and what he's doing during the exams. They are quick and efficient too!

We use them on short visits for boarding, and our dog seems to really enjoy it there. Thanks for the great service!

I am surprised by the number of negative reviews for Columbine Animal Hospital. We have been taking our two golden retrievers to Columbine Animal Hospital for 2 years and have always been 100% satisfied with their customer service, pricing and care of our animals.

Our primary vet is Becky Davidson and it is obvious from her demeanor that she genuinely cares about animals and treats our animals as if they were her own when they are under her care.

We have also been thoroughly impressed that we get a follow-up call the day after any procedure or vaccination to make sure that our dogs are recovering well and not experiencing any unexpected side effects or complications.

Not only will we continue to take our family pets to Columbine Animal Hospital but we will recommend it to family, friends and other animal lovers.

I agree with the other reviewer. They don't even deserve one star. This is probably one of the worst vet hospitals in Denver. After finding another vet office, I learned from several other vets that Columbine Animal Hospital is well known for recommending unnecessary procedures and treatments. My dog caught a virus at the Furry Scurry and $2000 later... They kept her overnight, recommended tons of medications, etc. She recovered so I am thankful for that. I have also learned that the overvaccinate pets. We were taking her in for shots every 6 months (did not know any better) until they gave her an overdose and she nearly died. I had taken her in on a Saturday and a few hours later, she couldn't walk, stand, anything. I was completely freaked out and called them, and learned that they were not open in the afternoon but that I was welcome to bring her in and pay for an after hours treatment. What could I do? Of course I brought her in and again, this woman vet says, oh we need to keep her overnight, etc. etc. which I knew she did not need (I had talked to a breeder friend of mine) and I knew that she only needed an antidote and be brought home to rest. This lady proceeds to work up three estimates of care and suggests I choose. $500 $1000 $1500. FOR THEIR MISTAKE? If you love your pet, I would never recommend that you take your animal to this facility. Not only will they charge you an arm and a leg, they recommend and administer treatments that are dangerous for your pet.

My puppy MAY have eaten rhubarb leaves, we took him in for treatment. They insisted on keeping him overnight. We didn't object for we wanted to cover all the ends and make sure if he DID eat it that he was treated for it. We called after he had been in there for about 6 hours and had charcoal, blood work, cathader, Urine tests, etc. and the person I spoke to said my est $ was $600.00 and he was doing great and we should be able to get him first thing in the morning, he said he saw "No reason why not". I called the next morning and the doctor told me she took it upon her self (Dr. Carol) to re-test him again and wanted to do a THIRD round of tests even though the first two showed nothing! I told her I didn't feel it was necessary for my puppy to go through any more trauma in their clinic. She told me it was a precautionary to keep him in there longer and I asked if it was necessary and she said yes. I asked for a medical reason why and couldn't get one out of her. They were stand offish and completely vague with any answers we would try to get. These people are borderline rude and outright ridiculous with their billing. When the doctor could not give me a medical reason to keep my puppy for another day and POSSIBLY another night I told her to get him ready to go and wed be by to pick him up. When we picked him up our bill was $980.00! $380.00 more than the estimate I had only received hours earlier. The only difference on my bill was the three prescriptions she gave us that totaled $100.00, so within the five minutes it took to pick up our puppy the bill jumped an extra $280.00?!? The people at Columbine are crooks.

I had been taking my pets to Columbine Animal Hospital for several years despite firing the first vet that treated my pet there. It was close to home and they have someone on staff 24 hrs. a day. I stopped going because I got fed up with the lackadaisical attitude of the vet treating my cat. My cat suffered symptoms for months. He was x-rayed, medicated (the drug affected his appetite and his activity level), given laser treatments, I tried chiropractic and acupuncture treatments as well. I was referred to a neurological specialist at VCRR that was a waste of time and money. The drug he prescribed made my cat so groggy he couldn't walk up the stairs. None of the vets at Columbine even agreed with his bogus diagnosis and yet my vet still didn't go out of her way to consult with anyone else. While this was going on both of my cats were then diagnosed with UTI's and put on antiobiotics. They were retested and I was told they both still had UTI's and were switched to another antibiotic. Since I wasn't getting any answers on what was wrong with my original cat. I switched to another vet clinic and had culture done for both cats. They both came back negative for a UTI, which means my cats immune systems were being compromised by the use of antibotics that they didn't need. This is the last thing my cat needed given that he was still suffering from something that hadn't been diagnosed in 5 months.

My new vet is treating my cat with B12 shots and it is relieving his symptoms. He's had no side affects from it. His appetite is back to normal as well as his activity. The treatment is simple and relatively inexpensive.

Thank goodness I finally was smart enough to move on.

I'd have to disagree with some of the other users comments about Columbine Animal Hospital. Obviously, each case is different, but I got excellent care, and as a family we have used them for over 25 years. I started going there as a child, and now I would consider myself to be a first time dog owner. My dog was treated honestly and quickly by Dr. Liz. She told me the diagnosis, and gave me an estimate of the cost before proceeding with treatment. I always knew what expect. It's their policy. The staff accurately treated my dog. If it wasn't for their 5 star care and concern, my dog could have been much worse off as she had a serious situation. Columbine Animal Hospital has a homey feeling, and your pet immediately becomes part of their family and is treated how you would want your pet to be treated.

Columbine had been my vet for about 12 years. I took my cat to the Animal Hospital with an eye problem. They prescribed infection medicine and said my cat had herpes. After a month there was no improvement. I took the cat back in and said that they had missed the diagnosis. They sent in another vet by the name of Liz Reno. She asked if she could repeat the tests. I said "no" because those tests obviously did not produce answers. She took the cat away for an exam. When I went to check out I realized she had performed the tests again and charged me hundreds. They sent me home with the same medicine. NO CHANGE IN CAT. I went in a 3rd time 1 month later and they wanted to do the same tests again. I walked out. I spoke to Dr. Bregitzer and found him to be quite rude. I thought he'd want to know his vets pad the bills so he could have a ethics discussion with them. Apparently not.I had the good fortune to find Paramount Vet Hospital. I drove all of the way across town to that vet. Dr. Ikeler diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes and cured my cat which was about to lose his eye. Thank god for an accurate diagnosis.I'd like to give columbine 0 stars.L

I took my golden in for a bite wound over the weekend and needed the ER service. The vet treated the wound with a drainage system, and warned us that we shouldn't let her bite at it. But, if she did bite that we should get a hood. That was the only advice. Well, she ripped it out 30 minutes later, and we had to take her back. They kept her all night again and told us we would receive a call in the morning, but we didn't. We called and they said we could pick her up in the late afternoon, but they were very evasive in their answers and we thought that their were some complications or that she may have died and they needed the doctor to tell us. All day they left us hanging on edge. When we picked her up we were told that they would wrap the wound this time!!! Wow, if that would have been done the first time we wouldn't have had to make our dog suffer for the second day and night in their hospital. Of course we were charged for this wrapping job and it cost another 400 (first visit was 650). The day vet also told us that we should severely limit her activity, but the first vet never told us this. Also, the dates for the stitches and drainage removals varied by a week from vet to vet in the clinic. I just feel that if we were informed better the first time we would have avoided a second visit. Why wasn't the wound wrapped the first time, when I asked I got no reply and an "uh-huh, I see."

The extra cost was an issue, but the most objectionable offense was to tell us our dog would be ready to pick up at 8, but make us wait until 4 and being cryptic and rather rude about the reasoning behind a delay that was justified by a need to speak with a vet, but the vet only told us that we needed to make another appointment to get the drain out. Couldn't a tech have done that?

Dr. Lee Bregitzer the owner of Columbine Animal Hospital, is awesome. He's personable, knowledgeable and loves animals. He provides first class services for your pet. They're also a 24/7 emergency hospital and boarding house. He's helped me out several times with odd issues my pets have had. He doesn't just treat the symptoms like some other vets I've dealt with, but he will get to the bottom of whatever is causing the problem. I always walk out of there knowing what is going on with my pet. For this type of care, you do tend to pay more but you end up with a happier pet and peace of mind. They are very busy and do offer regular office hours on Saturday's and Sunday's. Call to check for what the hours are though.

This is a great vet... they really seem to care a lot for the animals. Sometimes the wait can be long, especially on the weekend, but when your turn comes up, you can count on getting all the attention and help you need.

They have a good selection of perscription pet food as well.
