Jim and Janice are the nicest people I have ever known. I have shopped here for over 18 years and each time they go out of their way to make sure I leave satisfied. They go above and beyond. Mary-Lee

I do not recommend this place. The lady who fits the pointe shoes seems pretty clueless, and did not treat me very politely, either (patronizing, snobbish tone; also kept making borderline-rude comments about how wide and unusual she thought my feet were, how she does not usually deal with such large feet, etc.) My feet are a ladies' 9.5C in street shoes, normal arches, and she acted like Shaquille O'Neal had just come in looking for those pointe shoes. During all of this, I actually had to figure out all of the toe padding myself, because she kept repeatedly trying the same products that did not fit, while rambling away about the size of my feet, trying to make it seem like I was to blame for her poor attempts to fit me correctly. Then, if one particular model/size combination would not fit, she would take away entire brands and not let me re-try them upon request (as in, these 6B Grishko 2007s didn't fit you, so, we won't try any more Grishkos or Chacotts at all, because ""they tend to be similar""). When she started with that, I should have walked out right then and there. She ended up selling me a pair of costly high-end shoes that fell apart within a week, all because she did not stock anything that fit any better, and her special-order policies took weeks, were pricey, and required multiple trips to and from this remote small town. Naturally, she refused to take the pointes back because I had sewn on the ribbons (necessary to wear them to class). No refunds, exchanges or credits- of course not, right? It was foolish of me to let her pull this stuff; however, at least I learned my lesson and never went back. I now give all pointe fitters the third degree over the phone before I ever waste time or travel. I will not be fooled twice. To boot, one of the assistant saleswomen was sick as a dog that day, and was coughing and sneezing all over the tiny, crowded, windowless shop. By sheer luck, I did not catch anything- except a headache caused by buyer-beware drama.

I shopped at Stage Center for about 13 years when my kids took dance at a nearby dance studio and never had a problem like the previous poster did. Yes, for the few weeks when dance school began, it was busy and crowded but I would never go anywhere else for dance shoes--they went out of their way to fit kids correctly and would order items when needed. My older daughter just went there yesterday to purchase jazz shoes and she told me the service was phenomenal, as usual. I would highly recommend this store! The prices are reasonable and the staff knows how the shoes are supposed to fit....and they give discounts to kids who take dance at the local dance schools!

Pros: Knowledgeable staff, well stocked, good prices, offer discounts

Cons: Small store, fills up at beginning of dance year

**You won't believe the response to the email I send concerning my experience there. It contains foul language therefore I don't feel that I should post it here, but their exact words to my complaint were: ""I don't give a Sh**. and it was signed, The Management. For a copy of this email, which I will sharing with everyone I know, please contact me via email and I will forward it to you. Read on for my exprience.\r\n\r\nI will NEVER EVER shop at this establishment. I went there on a Monday and apparently they reserve the right to make thier own hours on Mondays. Which is fine, I peeked in the store window and had every intention to return another time until a man rushed to the door and spoke to me as if I were an idiot. This was a horrifying experience. When asked, he stated that he was one of the ""owners"". He scared the daylights out of my children with his condescending tone (yelling at me and referring to me as ""Hey Lady"", and was just downright rude, and acted as though he could not be bothered. I explained that I would take my business elsewhere and he completely lost his temper. The story is too long to elaborate on but I can tell you this, being a trained quality assurance monitor I know their business will suffer if they continue to treat potential customers this way. I don't care if they are giving merchandise away, I would not step foot in that store again.

Pros: NONE - Never got a chance to get into the store.
