This place is special bec. it has character. The decor does not impress...the music does not impress...the service does not impress but rather all these things make it unique and special experience...character and good and I think authentic German food. The place is family owned and operated...3 generations on site. They grow a lot of their own veggies. Favs include the chicken snitzel, home fried potatos, coleslaw, tomato salad, meatloaf, and pork shank (if you like a challenge) and the pork roast yum! For dessert try the apple strudel a la mode. We go often enough and we're treated very well and feel comfortable in the family atmosphere. The spaten beer is excellent too. Could be considered pricey but the food and experience is different enough to make it worthwhile. Love t he neighborhood feel.

Pros: Family Home Cooked Meals
Cons: Takes a long time to get the bill rung up
Wish we could visit more often. Great food & ambiance. Nothing pretentious, very authentic in every way. Musicians are wonderful and service is great. Sampler platter is a nice order if not familiar with German food as it brings a sausage of each kind to try along with different sides. The pig's knuckle is one of a kind and a must as as it's always crispy and juicy, with lots to share. Never disappoints.

Pros: Authentic, quiet some days, music on others, consistently great
Cons: can get pricey
If you yearn for a taste of the old country and some authentic German cuisine, visit Heidi's Gasthaus on Red Road near Coral Way, at the entrance to Coral Gables. I love their "Rouladen" (kind of stuffed beef rolls). They have Schnitzel, of course, or "Schweinshaxe". For dessert, enjoy "Schwarzwaldtorte" or "Apfelstrudel". Their red cabbage ("Blaukraut") tastes just like Mom used to make it. Enjoy your meal!.

THE PLACE IS VERY INTIMATE, OWNED BY A FAMILY.
THE FOOD IS GREAT, IT REMINDS ME ABOUT MY TRIPS IN GERMANY, THOSE LITLE RESTAURANTS OWNED BY FAMILIES, WITH AWESOME BEER AND FOOD.
THE SHNITZEL IS THE REAL ONE, BELIEVE ME AND THE JAGERSHNITZEL IS VERY GOOD. LIKE THE POTATO SALAD AND EVERYTHING ELSE.
THE SERVICE IS VERY GOOD, THE OWNERS ARE FRIENDLY AND NICE.
SOMETIMES THERE IS LIVE MUSIC, NOT LOUD MUSIC BUT GREAT ATMOSPHERE ONE!
THE ONLY WEIRD THING ARE THE OPERATION HOURS. THEY CLOSE VERY EARLY!

Pros: A REAL TASTE OF GERMANY.
This is such a charming restaurant! When you enter Heidi's, it's as if you entered a different world (one that is European of course). The service is great and extremely friendly. I tried their bratwursts and stuffed cabbage; both were great (and the bratwursts were surprisingly light and not as heavy as they usually are at other places). I finished off the evening with black forest cake and coffee, once more I was pleased with the results. They also had three gentlemen playing music, which added a lovely touch to the meal. I definitely recommend this place to everyone! After a stressful Miamian day, de-stress by entering Heidi's and enjoying a nice pleasant meal where you'll see smiles as you enter and depart.

Pros: Ambiance, Service, and Food
My husband and I went on a Thursday night and it was worth the drive. They had a live band of 3 gentlemen playing the guitar, clarinet and bass and one them even sang everyone a few songs! The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was like being in Germany at someone's grandmother's house but very romantic with the candles and the music. This was our first German feast and we thought everything was delicious! It was obvious that at least a couple of tables were regulars and when one of them left, they complimented our choice of deserts as being the best. Parking could be a nightmare but we got there before the rush. A night to remember if you like to experience new things!
