I had a great massage at Spa Sydell. I have frequented their facility for years. However times must be getting tough when they have to start using fraudulent practices to sell their products. I walked into the room to start my massage and the massage therapist started telling me about the products she was going to use. Never, not once did she ever tell me that it would be an additional $14.00 to use the product during my massage.

I never knew I was being charged until after my service was over and I went to the register to check out. I protested and told the manager I didn't think it was fair for me to pay for the product that was used during my massage, when I never knew I was being charged for it. And when you show a customer a product, it should be clearly stated that your establishment is going to charge the customer for the product, if it is used on their body.

She claimed that all therapists inform customers that special oils constitute an "upgrade" and since the therapist opened the bottle for me, I was now responsible for the entire bottle. The therapist never mentioned anything about an upgrade or extra cost, for some random bottle of lotion I didn't even ask for! What a scam.

Buyer beware, don't go to Spa Sydell, they will charge you for the products they use on your body and not even tell you about it until after your service is complete.

Horrible experience! My husband and I visited their Norcross location on May 10, 2012 for a couples massage and I was to get a facial and he was to get a pedicure. Both of us had excellent massages which was the only upside to the visit. My esthetician was terrible, she was rude and did nothing but massage my face? She spent less than 2 minutes on extractions, which is the reason I have facials, and my skin looked no better than before, I still had several visibly clogged pores. Why did I pay for a facial again? When I was done I found out that I was having to wait on my husband because his pedicure appointment ran 45 minutes late! We scheduled our appointments at the same time so we would be done at the same time. We do have children and the sitter was expecting us to be done an hour before we actually got out of there. I did leave a review on their site and they did extend a $50 spa credit to me due to my facial experience (another facial is $90) but I will most definitely NOT be using it. I am leaving this review mostly because an additional $5 was charged to our debit card after we left! We have attempted several times to resolve this issue with the spa to no avail! The girl who checked us out stated that she forgot to add the extra $5 charge to have a prenatal massage to our bill so she charged the extra amount to our card after we left. What? You can't do that! If you made a mistake and forgot to charge me that's your problem. You can't just take extra money out of someones bank account. The very least she could have done was called my husband or myself and stated that she had made a mistake and asked if it would be ok to charge the additional $5. What if we didn't have the $5 then we'd be looking at bank fees! So far no manager has returned my call and it seems that I get the girl that added the extra charge every time I call so I don't even think she's passing on the message. Her response to us was "It's just five dollars". She genuinely doesn't understand that its not the amount that's the issue it's the principal. You can just take unauthorized money out of someone bank account and think it's ok! There's a reason this spa has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau!

I recently used a $50 gift certificate to get a pedicure. Spa Sydell at the Forum was very dirty with nails all over the pedicure area floor. My pedicure was one of the shortest ones I've ever received also. It was 30 minutes long.......7 days later my polish started chipping off probably because they thin out their nail polish. I was really looking forward to this pedicure because of the price, but will never go back for any manicure or pedicure service. I was happy with my last massage, though.

I stopped using this spa, though located just a few blocks away from home because of their policy to void gift certificates after one year. I lost the ability to use a $300.00 gift certificate. I believe they have changed this policy recently to devalue gift certificates after one year and charge a fee to "reinstate" them.
Sunday I gave them another try as my 19-year old daughter was advised by a doctor to have a gentle massage following an automobile accident to loosen sore muscles. She had a doctors orders to do so. I called Spa Sydell and explained the whole circumstance before booking a late afternoon appt. We arrived, signed in, explained the whole circumstance again and were taken upstairs. My daughter put her robe on and was met by the masseuse, who I also explained the situation to , and showed her the doctors orders. She put my daughter on the massage table and I left. I returned home to find my daughter back home 20 minutes later. The masseuse had refused to massage her, believing she knew better than the doctor, and offered her a facial--at full cost--instead! When she declined, they told her she had to leave. She returned home sore and angry, and at 5 pm, there was no time for her to go anywhere else as she had to return to college that night. They knew our circumstance before I ever made the appointment and they wasted my daughter's whole day, as she would have booked an appointment elsewhere if they had just told us from the start that they didn't want to massage someone who had been in an accident. I called the manager who offered no apology or anyway to make it up to us--wouldn't even get me a copy of the voided credit card charge, as I had prepaid $90.00! I have to go back there today to get a copy. It will be the last time I set foot in that spa.

Pros: Can't think of any

Cons: Rude treatment with no regard for the customer

This woman is phenomenal. I don't know when I have ever had such a relaxing, rejuvenating experience. She makes your skin feel like velvet, and she just knows how to relax every part of a person's being, body and mind. She has a quiet, soft manner and is a great listener as well. I cannot think of anyone whom I would recommend more for a facial and overall body relaxing experience than Caroline!

My family wanted to give me a special treat for Mother's Day so they surprised me with a full hour massage at Spa Sydell. I happen to work in the area of The Forum so I decided to go ahead and give it a try. I was totally shocked that I really do like to be pampered and the deep muscle massage was fantastic.

My family was delighted that I enjoyed it so much so I know they will encourage me to continue to give myself some more pampering. I have a stressful job and this
was just what I needed to get some of the tension released.

The staff at the Forum was extremely warm and friendly and made me feel relaxed since it was my first time and I was a bit nervous.

I can't wait to go again.

I was delighted when I received a gift for mother's day and I chose the Forum location because of the good things I had heard from friends. Plus it is in a really nice area.

My dermabrasion treatment was the best I have every had and I can't wait to try some of their other services.

I told my family from now on...give me gift certificates for Spa Sydell so I can enjoy some of their other services. Next on my list is a facial and massage

The staff at the Forum location were wonderful and were extremely accomodating and made me very comfortable.

From the moment you walk in you are welcomed by a friendly receptionist who greets you and makes you feel welcome.

The atmosphere soothes you the minute you go upstairs to get your service. It has an elegant setting and you are taken for your service on time. The director, Maggie, will do anything to make sure that a client is happy and satisfied. She follows up and does so many extra things. My technician is Mariah. She is awesome. I have had several services there but I basically go every two to two and a half weeks for spray tanning. Mariah explains everything as she applies the spray tan, and makes sure you understand how to maintain the tan. She always has a smile and makes the session fun.

Spray tanning has a product called Tan Extender. They were out for several weeks and Maggie did everything possible to get it as fast as she could. The minute the product arrived she gave me a call.

I wouldn't go anywhere else, even if they offered their services for free. The Spa Sydell at the Forum is a heavenly experience. It is also in a wonderful shopping center so after, or before, your scheduled service time,
you can walk around and enjoy the beautiful area.

Give them a call and make an appointment, whether it is for a massage, facial, spray tanning, manicure or pedicures. I promise it is an experience you will want to continue for future services.

Spa Sydell has been sold to IN SPA which is located in Washington state . They are a lower end spa, kind of like massage envy. Word is they will not accept gift certificates bought under the name of SPA SYDELL . Not sure what the new name of the company will be or what other changes are to come. Ladies and gentlemen use your gift certificates as soon as possible.

Very poor experience at this location. We had 2 gift certificates with well over the amount needed for 2 massages (the massages are pleasant at best, nothing worth what they are charging) yet the female at the checkout was LOUDLY exclaiming that i owed X amount. l said there's a mistake, l don't owe anything. After a few minutes of this she finally got the info from downstairs that we were covered, she never uttered "sorry" or anything, l looked around and got a few items to get rid of the rest of the credit and THEN she starts spouting off some lines like a robot about me buying a package. l was so disgusted that l would NOT ever go back to that location. l emailed Spa Sydell the next day about how unprofessionally that was treated by miss thing wearing her "spoiled" charm necklace, they never even responded. l would say only go here if it is a gift cert situation, do not pay for anything. Even then they try to limit the times you can use certain certificates. This was last winter before Christmas when they were pimping their pomegranate facial, l won't get a facial there , did that once and was told that l had a LOT of hair on my lip as the lady smeared the exfolliant IN my mouth-and l was spitting for about an hour afterwards-Gwinnett Mall area location. Be careful, these people are generally unprofessional.

Spa Sydell did not live up to it's name for me. It's prices, while not at the high end of the spa market, were not cheap either. For not being cheap the rooms were definitely cheap feeling. I felt like I was in an office spaced turned into a spa I could hear everything going on right outside of the door. That was not very relaxing. I felt that the service was fine, but not impressive. I had to tell him several times to not rub my shoulders so hard. I think my money could have been spent better elsewhere.

I work at The Forum, so going to this Spa Sydell location is convenient for me. I only use the waxing service, so I can't speak to the changing area or bathrooms. However, I adore Caroline. I've been going to her for about a year now and she's amazing. She's always pleasant conversation and never tries to sell me anything. She gets me in and out quickly, which I like.

I find the waiting and reception areas to be perfectly acceptable. Frankly, spa music drives me nuts, so the less time I have to spend listening to it, the better. Maybe some people like it? I don't find it relaxing in the least. While they do try to sell me services at the desk, they're up front about their prices and the fact that packages are a better deal than gift certificates. I can only assume that other reviewers have much higher expectations for a spa than I do. Of course, knowing the customers I have to work with a few doors down, it doesn't surprise me how snippy some reviews are.

I was looking forward to FINALLY using 3 old spa gift certificates that I had received as gifts for my upcoming 30th birthday, but was informed that I could not redeem them because they are over 2 years old. That's over $400 of my friends' and families' hard earned money that they flat out STOLE. I am a VERY busy person and unfortunately haven't had time to take off a whole day to spend at the spa until now. I looked forward to a nice relaxing day at the spa for my 30th, but now I have to inform my friends and family that all their generosity went to waste. Money is money... these gift certificates should not expire. I realize prices may have changed, but I was more than willing to pay the difference. I will certainly be telling all of my friends and family to never buy me another gift certificate from this corrupt company again, and I warn everyone to avoid this unprofessional business like the plague! They aren't even that great of a spa to begin with.

I have been to the spray booths around town several times, and each time I looked like I walked out of the Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. My friend suggested I try the hand-sprayed tan at Spa Sydell. At first, I was not so excited to be exposed in front of a stranger, but the woman (Meghan) doing the applicaiton made me feel so relaxed and comfortable, I was not as nervous as when I walked in.
She explained the spray, how it works, and what to do at home. So, I dropped my robe, and off we went! In I think 10 minutes, I was a Bronze Goddess! AND, I was actually TAN not ORANGE! We were going on a cruise (and got engaged!!!), so I really wanted it to be perfect. And it was. I will be back.
BTW-The service staff were very friendly. We were running late, and there was a HUGE line when we got there. BUt, the girl downstairs told me to just go up the elevator, and they were ready to get me back to the lockers just in time to get ready. After, Meghan gave me some tea and let me relax before rushing around again. They really were nice. My fiance and I are going back for a couple's massage and facial-can hardly wait!!!

Pros: service and ambiance. Professionalism

Cons: Need more staff at the check-in/check-out

.

I have been to the Forum recently and it has really gone down hill. The customer service is terrible. The girls at the front desk are rude and do not know anything about the services. Erin was the managers name and she was the ruddest. Natural Body Day Spa gets my vote. Spa Sydell: It is time to call it quits. There are too many nicer spas.

Pros: there is no pros all the techs are worked to death and will be let go for whatever reason

Cons: this spa at PARk place is the worst

.

If you want to be pampered and treated as a king or queen, I do NOT recommend Spa Sydell at the Forum or any other Spa Sydell location for that matter. Guest service employees will patronize you just enough to get your money and if you have any disagreement with them they will slander you the minute you leave.
Some technicians are kind and caring and give a wonderful massage or facial, but the rest of the spa leaves much to be desired. Only use Spa Sydell as a last resort!

My daughter and I went to Spa Sydell at the Forum for a mother/daughter day. I had the 30 minute facial and body wrap. My daughter had a teen facial and message. I have been to a few other spas, including Spa Sydells and I must say the experience was mediocre.
When we entered the spa, we were greeted with the smell of somones lunch. Something you don't expect to smell at a spa. The waiting area is nice with waterfalls and low lighting. My technician greeted me and escorted me to the change room. The change area is small, and there were used bath mats in front of the on the floor and empty glasses on the only bench in the room. The change area is small, so this was ackward.
The body wrap included a ten minute steam, but. by tech ushured me out of there after about 5 minutes. tops. (I did not check in late) She then swftly painted some gel like substance on me and wrapped me up. I stayed there for about 10 minutes showered then was promptly moisturized. Not a very relaxing experience.
The 30 minute facial was nice, but the entire time the tech tried to sell me something. Glycolic peel. waxes. product, etc etc..I finaly gave in and had a eyebrow wax. (She wanted to give me a brazillian)
Im sure Sydell will be happy that her techs are upselling More money for her. But not a very relaxing experience at a spa. Which is the purpose is it not?
This place has become an asembly line type place. Get em in get em out, next.
Ok for quick services like waxes etc..but not great for pampering.
I also agree with the poster that a better mani-pedi can be had at your local manicure place. Had one at the Alpharetta location last year and was very dissapointed.

I have a facial once a month and have not yet found a good facial spa. Tried Spa Sydell in Gwinnett couple years go and was not impressed. So I thought let's try the Forum location b/c it could be a more upsale location. The first floor of the spa and water feature was nice. The elevator took me to the 2nd floor and again the decor was nice. I paid $85 for a 60 mins Sydell facial and the service lasted only 50 mins. I felt the service was rush, no detail extraction done on my face. The facial massage lasted only 5 mintues when I told her specifically I like alot of extraction and massage to be done on my face. She did not use any hot warm towels on my face and the towel texture was rough (cheap towel!) I did not get pampered and was disappointed with the service. Will never go back.

I had an excellent experience with the Spa Sydell location at the Peachtree Forum. Everyone was very curteous and attentive during my entir visit. I chose the 1/2 day with Sydell package and liked it so much I have made it a monthly ritual. From Dana who performed my massage to Kay who handled my manicure/pedicure, everyone treated my like a princess for a day. I would reccomend both of them to anyone looking to relax and find sanctuary in Atlanta.

Pros: I spent $300 for 5 hours of pampering with exceptional service and treatments. I've never been so relaxed.

Cons: I wasn't as pleased with my facial anesthician but I loved the service and booked again for my next visit with an alternate specialist.

I got the most fantastic massage from Dionne at the Forum (which I just found). Great location. Waterfall, music and the massage. The best I've had in years. I just finished traveling and was able to book a massage the same day. I told her what I needed, actually she asked and she went right to business. She didn't talk my ear off or push too hard (i've has some painful massages). Best deep tissue in years. Will be back.

I don't know what all the hype is about. I expected more from the infamous "Spa Sydell" I scheduled a facial and massage here. Facial wasn't too bad. Nothing out of the ordinary that set it above any other average facial I've received at other spas. The massage was one of the worst I've ever received. The girls hands were dry and rough (when it sounded like she was rubbing two pieces of sand paper together, I just knew I was in for a treat.) The walls were so paper thin, that I could hear other techs in the halls talking and laughing - not faintly either - I knew every word they were saying. And when I expressed my concern when checking out, it was more like "oh that's too bad, so sorry you didn't like it..." I'll never go back to this location.

I received the best massage I have ever had...and I have had many. I visited Spa Sydell at The Forum today and from the moment I walked in I was in awe of the atmosphere and ambiance. The spa is just lovely. From the soothing music and waterfall fountains, I was relaxed immediately. The massage I received from Jeannine was the BEST!! I have been to many massage therapists seeking relief from shoulder and low back pain. Although I told the therapists what my issues were, they just didn't seem to listen. Jeannine not only listened but actually helped relieve my pain. Her primary focus were my problem areas and the rest of the massage was just wonderfully relaxing. I felt like a new person...I will definetely be back to see her.

It is a great place to relax. The staff was very professional and courteous. Sineat Vilichay who did my facial, was very nice and friendly. The facial was very rewarding, and their products fabulous. After the facial, my skin looked great!!! Nice touch - I didn't feel the pressure to buy their products, they were delicately recommended...Thank you!!!

Spa Sydell has the best esthetician in the industry tucked away at the Forum.
To my surprise this esthetician has experience with plastic surgeons, and Microdermabrasion and peels were amazingly CHEAP

I have had facials and spa services all over the world. I've had cosmetic procedures and treatments from the best plastic surgeons offices, but nothing compared to the expertise, experience, knowlege and the surprise of being pleased beyond all expectations. Karen has the most incredible european "spa" touch, blended in with expert medical spa services. She knows her stuff, and it shows!
Two Thumbs Up for Spa Sydell at the Forum.

I have been to many spas all over the world and had the chance to visit Spa Sydell last month in Norcross. I had a massage with Dominique, who was highly professional and thorough. I have to say it was the most enjoyable and unbelievable experience I've ever had. I'm so glad I now live so close to the Spa that I can visit her on a regular basis.
