We are blessed to live in a city with all of its fine dining, but what happens when fine dining collides with fun ? well you have Il Localino. This North Highlands eclectic Italian trattoria pulls out all of the stops to make moments into memories. This is due to the owners, Giovanni and Gale; whose take on life carries over to the total dining experience ? it?s Italian home cooking in a cozy setting, but it?s more than that, it?s how they celebrate the joy of people coming together. The recipes for these masterful creations have been passed down through the generations within Giovanni?s family, and they?re made each night for your pleasure.

As with any great Italian meal, one breaks bread together and shares antipasto to fire up the palate and to start an evening of enduring conversation. At times it is hard to get a word in, as these nibbles are way too tasty. From the creamy Prosciutto di Parma with cantaloupe, to the nutty Parmigiano-Reggiano and buttery Asiago, to the crispy yet delicate tasting Hearts of Palms - these appetizing flavors seem to have a way to intensify with each bite. But it?s the Pesto alla Genovese made with finely chopped walnuts in the basil-garlic blend that will rock those taste buds- don?t let it leave the table- the urge to come back to it is irresistible. Now that all of the senses have become fully aroused, send them over the edge with simply the smell from the sizzling garlic and lemon of the baked clams oreganata. These mouth-watering morsels will cause one to gasp at the first taste ? the excitement builds!!!

Pasta is typically served as a first course and when properly made there is no other food that is as satisfying and soothing to the soul. The savory robust Paccheri alla Bolognese is both plus oh so much more. The large tube pasta is covered with a rich tasting meat sauce that?s somewhat feisty, and when topped with freshly grated Parmigiano this highly flavored dish is absolutely to die for. The second courses at Il Localino feel like brushstrokes of a di Vinci masterpiece- simply breathtaking. The ultra-tender pan roasted Filet Mignon medallions are saut?ed with shallots and seasonal mushrooms in a Barolo wine reduction with a splash of the highly aromatic brandy, Vecchia Romagna, is astonishing. But to excite those last few sleepy taste buds indulge into some of the most exciting seafood in the city, the Cioppino- an unbelievable fisherman?s stew. It?s truly a work of genius that consists of lobster, king crab, clams, mussels, and sea bass all bathing in a savory tomato broth whose flavors are intertwined with fresh herbs and garlic creating a zesty seafood feast that can only be described as stunning - this dish is created from Giovanni?s heart, a labor of love. Ask for some fresh bread to slop up the broth, as it is just way too yummy.

After some impromptu dancing and singing, the party-like atmosphere always settles back to the reason why people get together to eat- to feel nurtured and to connect with each other while enjoying the treasures of the kitchen. The treasures really sparkle at Il Localino with their decadent warm Chocolate Souffl? and the coffee tasting creamy Tiramisu ?these dreamy treats are truly a gift from heaven. When you think you can?t take another bite, somehow you notice the fork. Besides the foods and the ultra-friendly staff, the greatest pleasure at Il Localino is the unexpected. This adds to its astonishing setting and takes the culinary journey turning it into a fun-filled memorable evening- can?t think of a better way to enjoy life. Buon appetito!!!

My husband loves to eat Italian food and we have been checking out Italian restaurants nearby. We found the reviews on Il Localino interesting so we decided to try it out ourselves. The first thing we noticed is the special treatment given to us by the wait staff. The service was absolutely wonderful. The food they served us were remarkable. My husband and I were really satisfied. We had a very enjoyable dining experience and we will surely come back!

Gio, Gail, & Mimi are the best restaurant owners I've ever met. We're from NJ and are surrounded by Italian eateries. None can compete with this place. It's not expensive, it's not glamorous, and you don't have to dress up. Just come in, have a TON of fun, and have the best meal you have ever eaten. If you're lucky enough to have Gio there....fugettaboutit. SICK

We went here for our Anniversary and it was the best time ever! You have to go in wanting to have fun, not just to be snobby and think its fine dining... 2 minutes after we sat down we were already wearing goofy hats and had been given a free app...

Don't get me wrong, its a very nice place with Amazing service and even better food... but they know how to make sure you enjoy yourself.

The Caesar dressing was homemade and so was the pasta. When my wife ordered the Cioppino, we were caught off guard by the lobster tail that was in it. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Long story short, I finally asked my coworker out on a date. Frist dates can be awkward, so I wanted to go somewhere with a lot going on so we did not get bored. Not easy to find an exciting restaurant in Atlanta, but after reading some reviews I knew I wanted to try Il Localinos. Let me say it was such an exciting time. My date loved the food, but even better we had so much fun with the servers and the restaurant! This is a great place to go if you want to have a second date ;)

I wanted to take my boyfriend out to somewhere special for our anniversary-- little did I know how special it would be. We were in romantic little Italy then all of the sudden it was transformed into a dance party with a disco ball and everything! The food was amazing and the service was so attentive, they made our anniversary one to remember, and we will definitely be back soon!

It's funny to read all the bad reviews... Obviously, this people do not know any better. When you are used to eat at fast food parlors that would be your reaction. If u want something better and different you will have to pay more. I have dined in the best places in the USA and outside the US, and believe me when i say this little tratoria is the by far one of the best in Atlanta!!!! Keep it up guys!!!

Il Localino is my favorite Italian restaurant in Atlanta. Thank God it is in my Inman Park neighborhood! If you go earlier in the evening, it is very romantic. Later in the evening can be very fun with dance music and people wearing funny hats, which makes it a great place to go with a group of friends for a birthday or other special occassion.

My wife and I went to Il Localino after a friend recommended it to us and it was wonderful. The food was fantastic. The Lamb Osso Bucco was tender and wonderfully prepared. The Chicken Parm was thin, crispy and the sauce was great. The appetizers - garlic bread and fried mozzarella - were perfectly portioned and not too heavy. We eat out a lot and are often disappointed by new places. Localino did NOT disappoint. Valet parking made it even more pleasant. Go and enjoy the hospitality. No scams or cons here - just considerate, attentive servers.

I love this place! The owner's treat you like family and make you feel like royalty from the moment you walk thru the door. I think I have spent every significant moment of my life, (Mother's 50th birthday, Father's day, special date, etc.) at Il Localino. You will not be disappointed when it comes to service, ambiance, FOOD, nor the price.

I've been to Localino many times in the past, but now you must go. The food is incredible! I don't know how they did it, but somehow the lasagna got even better! You can order off of the menu or just ask Mimi or Gale what to get. They will never guide you wrong! The party atmosphere is one of a kind and a reason that I always return. But now they have cut their costs and the experience is almost unimaginable. We had a party of 4 for only $200. And that included a great bottle of wine!

Please try it - you won't regret it!

Very fun with the hats. It is a challenge to get there from the North side but worth the effort. Fun atmosphere -- the bread, wines, appetizers, short ribs ? are all outstanding. If you happen upon stone crabs ? you are in for a treat. The lasagna is "incredible" and worth a return trip!

... this resturaunt is called il Localino...not the macoroni grill or maggiano's or jonny carino's if you would consider your experience at any of the last 3 restaurants named, a "great" dining experience, then DO NOT GO to IL LOCALINO! It is a delicious adventure! through it's food, service and atmosphere you are transported to a relatively very inexpensive italian vacation..ah..if only for one night! Seriously, I dream about that calamari and I haven't had anything in this country taste so much like the real thing! We did get complimentary and not charged for later, sorbet and ciello and the owner created a dish for me and it was not only phenomenal but also the same price as the other entrees... If you have ever been to another country and you enjoyed it and didn't walk around the whole time in your white running shoes and fanny pack complaining about the lack of "americaness" of the place, but instead delighted in the fresh, can't quite put my finger on why this is so much better than what i've had at home flavors and the uninhibited light-heartedness of it's people, you will LOVE IL Localino! I have a sneaking suspicion that if you were to meet the people who wrote these negative reviews you would find that they would fit in one or more of the following categories: A) stuffy bore who just wants "fine" dining in a prim and proper setting and thinks fun is something to be checked off a to-do list or B) ignorant chain restaurant fan who sadly know no better and probably should stay outside the realm of ITP!

I can't believe this place is still in business-oh yeah- they get out of towners who don't know better. Food will show up that they say is on the house, then it appears on your bill. Wine is poured that you didn't ask for and are charged anyway. A group of 4 with no alcohol pays bill of $400, wow- I'm in the wrong business, didn't know you could mark up PASTA and make a killing!!! The food is BAD. Think lean cuisine here people!!! Please, read the reviews and don't say you weren't warned....no where on city search will you find worse reviews - and they all have the same message- Scam, Rip-off, never again, horrible!!! Much better Italian places to go to in Atl guys!!!

I frequently check reviews of my favorite restaurants but never before written one. The last few reviews I have read have made me so mad that I have to write, obviously any one who frequently eats in chain restaurants is going to experience a difference in price because the quality of food and atmosphere at Il Localino is a lot better. In my experience the food is always fresh and delicious and my guest are always knocked out about how great everything is. I personally feel that the people who can't afford this restaurant or don't appreciate the food should go elsewhere and leave room for those of us that do. Regarding the blaring music and crazy atmosphere localino is famous for this later in the night. When I want to entertain clients I either ask for a table in the private room, which is quieter, or I go at 6pm. After the fun starts is really the best time to be there - if you can't have fun at Il Localino you cant have fun anywhere. Now that I?ve gotten all this off my chest I can?t wait to go back again - Maybe even tonight!!

The last time that I was in Atlanta, I had the great fortune of being able to experience the most delicious dishes at il Localino. I have been around the world, and this place is one of my favorites. I can not wait to have a table full of wonderful delicacies prepared to my liking and a staff catering to my every fancy. I love being able to order items not on the menu like a seafood combination of lobster, shrimp, clams, and muscles in a marinara sauce that reminded me of days that I spent with my grandfather who is no longer with us. Based on reviews of this site, I was sure to examine my bill thoroughly before paying and did not find any over charges. I would definitely recommend eating here, and I am counting the days until I return to Atlanta which will be next week so I can again enjoy this fabulous find yet again.

I was there this past Friday and I have to say this restaurant exceeded my expectations. I have heard great things about this place but after reading some of these reviews I was shocked as I have nothing but the utmost respect for this establishment, every place should be this accommodating. I never had to ask for a thing as the wait staff is extremely attentive. Our wine and water glasses were always full; they had multiple people serving us, definitely a 5 star class of service. We felt like we were the only table in the restaurant meanwhile there were people waiting for tables at the bar.
The food is to die for - I had the cioppino which is their "unforgettable seafood feast" and boy is it unforgettable. Like everything else our food was served expeditiously, it was all fresh, hot, and full of flavor! There was only one way to truly finish off our wonderful meal and that was with a piece of the tiramisu - Delicious!! Along with our desert our server brought us a plate of fresh fruit and a round of after dinner drinks.
Anything we did not order that we received at the table was nowhere to be seen on the check as we paid ONLY for what we ordered and it was worth every penny!
This is a awesome place to go after work and unwind, everyone was enjoying the music & disco ball it was a funky twist to a traditional Italian meal - if your looking for a quiet evening the earlier the better.
The manager really took her time to make sure that we really enjoyed our selves. I will recommend this place to everyone I know as will you!

This place is absolutely ridiculous. Stay far, far away. The environment is tacky, cheap and obnoxious. It's a room crowded with dusty photos of no one in particular, peculiar stuffed animals, old stage props and Christmas lights. The service is in-your-face and will only give you a few moments to relax (if you consider listening to a sound system blaring everything from Ricky Martin to Johnny Mathis as relaxation). One waiter started massaging my friend's shoulders in the middle of dinner. Another tried to paint something in charcoal on my friend's face while she was squirming and shreaking. What many others on this forum have said is true-- they will deliver an item you didn't order- a salad or two and some pasta- and invite you to eat it. The waiter actually says this food is "on the house" but it's not true-- they add miscellaneous charges to the bill to compensate. The food tasted like it came from a cheap cafeteria. I had the grouper and it reminded me a little bit of Long John Silver's. Except that Long John Silver's fish tastes better. The prices are completely unrealistic for what you are eating-- comparable to finer restaurants. I was a little suspicious accepting the invitation to go there when every local foodie I consulted had never even heard of the place. There are so many great places to eat in Atlanta. Save your money for those and don't let these insanely bad actors continue to kid themselves. The entire experience is horrifying.

Cons: Ridiculous environment, Obnoxious staff, Poor food

.

We recently had a group of 6 at IL Localino, and upon reading several of the reviews here were cautious about our bill and getting things charged that we did not order. The service was very attentive and we had 5 or 6 people who attended to our needs throughout the evening.

True to form, we got several items that we did not order brought to our table. Being the savvy internet users, we questioned every item and was assured that they were all "on the house" including the round of bellinis that was brought at the end of the meal.

When we received the bill, everything that was brought extra was no where to be seen, and the "special" appetizer sampler they brought out had a nice "N/C" listed in the price column.

All in all, we had a wonderful time, the food was outstanding and fresh, and the atmosphere was a wonderful way to get in the holiday mood and spend a few hours with great friends and family.

I've worked in the fine dining industry for over five years and I've been alive for over 30, and never have I fell victim to a bigger scam than when I made the mistake to eat at Il Localino. I should have known better. As soon as Pop DeFazio greeted me at my table with his ridiculous broken English accent, pouring me wine without my consent; as soon as the waiters brought "complimentary" appetizers to my table; as soon as the hostess placed a viking hat on my head, I should have realized my misfortune. But I didn't. Until I saw the bill. Which was even more ridiculous than Pop DeFazio's hair. I ended up paying nearly $300 for a few dishes of mediocre macaroni. Trust me, you'd be better off spending your money on scratch off tickets and eating Chef Boy-Ar-Dee.

Pros: The bread.

Cons: OVERCHARGING! Check your bill carefully! These guys are con artists.

This is the place I've been looking for all of my life. Usually, if a place has good food, the atmosphere is wrong, or the service is off. This place has it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was fun, fun, fun, and the service was 5 star. Anyone who does not love this place belongs on Olive Garden. If you're looking for a meal and an evening to remember, this is the place

Dining at this restaurant is like taking a vacation. You leave Atlanta at the door and enter a combination of Italy and New York. I've never seen anything quite like it - and I've certainly never had a better meal in my life! Greeted at the door like family, the experience only gets better after that. Every course was a delight. Don't go there if you're a stuffy old coot - this place is definitely for the fun crowd because you never know what comes next.

some tables got bread. we didn't. some tables were offered fresh ground pepper. we weren't. some tables were offered fresh grated parmesan. we weren't (although the MAN serving it with his fingers from a bowl made me less sensitive about the lack of parmesan on my pasta (NOT al dente)). the first time i requested check, i was ignored. second time check was wrong. approximately one hour from requesting check to paying bill. the music was 140 decibels and horrendous. the lights befitting a carnival -- not fine dining. my meal (linguine with white clam sauce) was essentially tasteless. the valet service was excellent -- the reason for the one star, without which there would be zero. did i mention exponentially overpriced? the good news? there is a very good restaurant just two doors down.

Visited there Saturday night, July 21 with Dinner Club group of 10. Food was okay but way over priced, service was good, waiters excellent. Called ahead to be sure we could receive separate checks, which was confirmed with a yes. After receiving and eating our meal and presented with THE check, was informed that they could not separate the check. OWNER was the issue - she would not even divide the check - made each person write down what they had and the amount - was a HUGH dissapointment to what was otherwise a pretty good evening. Our Dinner Club has been visiting a different restaurant every month for 10 years - this was a first. We have returned many times to a restauarnt that gave us good food and good service - needlessly to say we will not return here.

Let me put it this way. I have seriously though of flying to Atlanta just to eat there! A true Mom and Pop Italian restuarant.

This is a fun place for sure. I have recommended it several times and been here about 5 times. This last time was with a group of 5 of us went and our bill was over $500.00. They may recommend things, but just ask how much it is so you won't be surprised. I just got on the reviews here and saw that other people had similar experiences, and the only thing we can do is learn from them. It's a wonderful, fabulous place, but it's just better to know what the prices of certain things are. They do bring extras to the table, however, if they bring things to the table that you didn't order and then charge you for it, that is unfair.

This place is #1. Loved everything about it. Great memorabilia on the walls sets the stage for a warm and cozy atmosphere, but look out after 9 pm it turns into a party. What a great idea! Food was outstanding - with service to match. Will be back every chance I get.

Last night 3 friends and I went to Il Localino after numerous recommendations. All I can say is that it was better than I ever would have expected. The food was incredible and totally authentic. None of these Olive Garden all you can eat slops, but beautifully prepared and flavored foods. The cocktails were orgiinal and delicious, and we were even able to purchase Opus One, which is unusual in this city for a small restaurant. The live music added to the already built in festive attitude of the restaurant, and by 9:30 the whole place was one large party. Amazing!!!! The servers were the most conscientious and delightful I have every experienced in this city. I thought you could only get service like this in New York or LA. What a find!!!! The prices were right for the experience, but at twice the price it still would have been worth it. Can't wait to go back.

I have recommended this cozy little place to many of my friends and family after my first visit in which I never saw the bill, so I didn't know how they ripped us off. This visit was my second, but also unfortunately my last. My husband and best friend surprised me w/7 other members to our party, 8 people total for my 27th birthday. We got there to be seated and greeted with 4 or 5 pushy waiters wanting us to order 3-4 appetizers to the table, I repeatedly told them 1 app, calamari. Alcohol was consumed at our table, but there were several people who had little to no alcohol. When presented with the bill after my "free" b-day dessert and the 3 other desserts just brought to our table, they tried to charge us for 17 caramel apple martini's when we only ordered 14 total. We argued about the bill, both parties got upset, and the owners wife said she would take the x-tra drinks off even though she knows we ordered them, but since a couple of us got "rude" after she argued that we did order the drinks she told us we were no longer welcome at their restaurant. After we paid our outrageous bill ($500 for 8), we began to exit and she followed after us and kept saying you are welcome here anytime, but your friends better never step foot in here again. Well, guess what, they won't have to worry about us or our friends. My mom and her boyfriend are avid diners at Il Localino and my mom said she always knew how they did their customers and she said it was definitely their "way of business". Ok food (small portions for what you pay), but high prices and sneaky "service":(

Over the past few years my friends and I have become "regulars" at Localino. The food is top notch, the service is excellent but when you add everything up - - it's the total experience that makes this my favorite restaurant in Atlanta.

If you're going, please be sure to ask Mimi or Eddie for the nightly specials, there is so much more than just what's on the menu! I highly recommend the veal canneloni or any of the various ravioli's (try the pumpkin)!

Have a great time!!

I live in New York City, and I became a regular at Trattoria Il Localino. I come to Atlanta a few times a year for conventions, and I always make sure I make it there at least once while I'm visiting. The Food is comparible or even better than some of the notch places in NYC, plus excellent service. The servers were extremely attentive to my needs and always made sure my drink was full. They are very knowledgeable about the menu, and always recommended something deliciious. The Chicken Francaise is out of this world, and it's not even on the menu. I simply told the waiter that's my favorite dish and they made it for me. TALK ABOUT SERVICE! You couldn't get into a place like this in New York for weeks if you tried. The atmosphere is fun and lively which makes an enjoyable time. They were playing great music, and the owner & his wife came out and started dancing with me and my co-workers. I'm telling you you're definitely missing out if you go there. Can't wait to go back!

I have eaten at Il Localino on numerous occasions birthday, anniversaries, or just a Tuesday night dinner, whatever the occasion I have gotten more then I paid for. I find the service to be in ranking at the highest caliber in all of Atlanta, when returning from a business trip or vacation it is always my first stop because I know its a guaranteed fabulous meal.
In regard to the review below it sounds to me like these cheapskates wanted something for nothing if there intentions were true someone should have spoken up before 10 people consumed the entire salad, calamari dishes, and dessert. BY the way there calamari is one of my favorites and is well worth paying for. Since you said you were all in the industry you should know outstanding food and service has its price. If you feel that you and or your party is above paying that price maybe you should go to the supermarket, stay home do the work your selves and host your own dinner party.
In closing I recommend Il Location to family, friends, clients and even strangers I meet because I'm am assured that will have an unforgettable time!!!
P.S. You have got to try the Cioppino!!

This restuarant is unbeliviable, not in a good way. A group of 10 went on 02/26/07 for a birthday party. When entering, it does look like a fun place, you can always see something new. This was my first time at Trattoria il Localina and I will NEVER go back. Our server introduced himself and described the additional salad and calamari and told us that it was apart of the meal. We ordered 1-2 drinks per person so none of us were intoxicated. At the end of dinner dessert came out for the birthday girl and she was very happy. One of the other girls in the party was approached by our server and he specifically asked how many PLATES do you want at the table before the dessert came out. Well at the end of your dinner the bill was presented and it was over $800.00. The bill would not be bad between 10 people but we only ordered dinner and 1-2 drinks between each of us. So we looked a little closer and we were charged for 10 salads that totaled $125.00 bucks, and 3 orders of calamari at $70.00 and $85.00 for desserts that we did not order. I spoke with the server and he argued with me and told me that I personally ordered it as well as everybody at the table. All 10 of us work in the restaurant industry and were extremely anger about what was going on. After about 30 minutes of arguing finally a female came out and took off the salads and calamari after major protest from the table. We were NOT going to pay for what the server knew would increase our bill and increase his tip.

I have been here loads of times and I have never had a bad experience. My experience with the restaurant and staff is completely opposite than some of the reviews I read. Every time I go there, the food is delicious and the staff is extremely attentive! The last two times I stopped in I had the prawns. They are so large, they could easily be confused for lobster! The bread they serve at the beginning of the meal is incredible. It's always freshly baked and still warm and squishy. The pesto oil they serve it with is amazing. Clearly, I love the food. And to make the restaurant even better, the ambiance is playful, entertaining and hilarious! I wouldn't reccomend this place to the stuffy! Go with an open mind, plan on dropping a few bucks, and have fun!

This is the best Italian food I have ever eaten and I am a very picky NEW YORKER> I have been all over the world and the people that are complaining are just CHEAP. This is no run of the mill restaurant. People that know good food, know it can't be made in 5 minutes. It is well worth the wait ! The ingredients are always fresh , And if you are lucky enough not to have a wait then the whole city must be out of town ! Just ask for Gale -Eddie or Mimi and i'm sure you will get the royal treatment I always have when I am in town............

Oh my God, the worst dining experience EVER. 4 days later and I'm still so mad I can't sleep. My husband and I took 7 of us for my 50th birthday. We already new about the entree deal and STILL managed to get completely ripped off by the supposedly FREE appetizers, birthday desserts, and after dinner drink. None of which were asked for. The place was way too noisy and pushy. When I finally asked for the bill, 10 minutes later comes a tray of after dinner drinks! Pad the bill some more, would you! Please, don't go there. They should be shut down for blatantly ripping people off. I feel like a fool. Not a good way to remember my 50th birthday.

I'm quite amused at all the negative reviews, and I just have to disagree. I went with a very good friend, my partner, and we had a wonderful time. Very large menu, and you just have to wander through it. Place your order, and if something comes to the table you didn't order, shake your head no, and no matter what the language is, that nod says it all. The food was good, and certainly it was not like Little Italy in NYC, but we had no complaints. And yes the place is Loco, and crazy fun. When the disco ball starts with the music, jump up and give it your best Travolta!

Anyone who writes a positive review about this place is drinking the Kool Aid. For seven people, each ordering 1 entree, no bottles of wine. 5 people had 2 cocktalis, 1 person had none, and no desserts, we walked out after a tab of $530...Thank you very much. A huge mistake is to trust the staff when they offer to bring you a "sampling" of apps...2 plates of grilled eggplant (4 peices on each plate), 2 plates of salami (6 peices on each plate), 2 small plates of roasted peppers, 1 bowl of mussels, and 1 bowl of calms...$160 later...that's $20 per app. I eat out frequently, especially with clients. I enjoy a good dining experience. I have no problem paying $100 per person when the experience meritts. This was mediocre food and a first rate con job. Don't let it happen to you!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!

We were referred to Il Localino by the concierge at the Renaissance Hotel downtown on our first night in Atlanta -- he told us that "mama" would take care of us. Well, she sure did -- financially at least. We're not sure if or what we ordered, but the appetizers just kept coming and we didn't have the communication or the will as a group to figure out at the time that we were being taken for a ride. Fortunately, we realized what was going on before ordering main dishes and escaped -- but not before paying $50/person for what amounted to finger food and some mediocre pasta. It was some welcome to Atlanta. Chalk it up to being an ignorant tourist I suppose. Beware.

It is now two days after our ill fated night at this place and I'm still enraged. The negative comments that others have posted are the exact things that we encountered. Food appeard from the kitchen and when we instructed them that we did not order it, they suddenly couldn't understand English, only shrugging their shoulders and pointing to the kitchen like it was sent compliments of the chef. We had two friends (in a party of 12) that were not eating. With all the wine & champagne that we were ordering we thought they'd overlook the "1 entree per person rule" but no such luck. The disco ball and loud music are not for entertainment purposes, but to confuse and divert the patron from what is really going on around them. Smoke & mirrors while the wait staff is sneaking items on the table, and before you realize that nobody ordered it, its too late. My meal, Chicken Madeira, was horrible. Reminded me of a Lean Cuisine, only worse. When I complained to the waitress it fell on deaf ears. Her response?? A sheepish smile and, "I don't like it either. Honestly, I can't stand the food here, but I can't say anything." Whaaaatt?? So even the wait staff hates the food. Had I not been with guests from out of town, I would have made a huge stink and argued about the bill. In hindsight, I'm really sorry I didn't say something. Although, quite honestly, I don't think these people would even care. They get enough suckers in there to make up for 1 lost customer per night. Well, make that 12 because I doubt any of our group will EVER return. I'm in such shock that they get away with it. No matter what the other posters say about how great it is, do yourself a favor and stay away. There are plenty of better quality Italian restaurants with honest management & service in the Atlanta area so that you don't have to waste your money by giving it to these scam artists.

Pros: NONE, only that it is next to a great bar, Highland Pub

Cons: Food, price - its all a con

Our party of seven had a fabulous time, great food and outstanding service! We had our choice of two large tables on a Saturday night. Yes, the music is loud, and yes, they turn on the disco light, but it was so much fun! Wild purple hair hat and cute headband of flowers set the tone for a hilarious time. The waiters were very attentive, the food was prepared perfectly and fresh, the wine list was so-so, but they had the wine we wanted, so the other selections were extraneous. The tiramisu was the second best in the whole city. If you know not to go with the waiter's high priced recommendations and just order what you want, you can keep the tab in mind. Yes, it is expensive, but the food justifies the price. The owner comes out to speak with each and every table. Go with a group, or just the two of you - you'll have a wonderful time!

I have been to this restaurant dozens of times and been highly impressed by the incredible food and very friendly staff every time. Yes, there are times when the music gets cranked up and everyone begins to party, but it is fun!

My husband proposed to me in this restaurant, and we make a date to go back every year on our anniversary - this week is our 4th. When he told the staff he was going to propose, they changed the music to romantic Italian just for us. They made it one of the most memorable evenings of my life, and that is why I keep going back every time I have an opportunity and I'm never disappointed. This is the place I bring out of town friends to impress them.

It is crowded every night because their food and atmosphere is so wonderful that people keep coming back!

I have been to this place since it opened a number of times a year and I always have a wonderful time. Yes, it is pricy, but if you know how to have fun, you will have a blast when they start playing fun music and engaging the crowd in the party with silly hats! And yes, the food is great too. I have never had a bad meal in my many meals at Il Localino. However, I do not suggest this place to quiet-natured stuffy people. Parking is limited, but they have Valet's, so no problem for you. My advice--have fun with your servers and they will have fun with you!

I will never return to this place again. The menu was VERY overpriced. I felt pressured by the waitstaff in ordering items. The food was below average. The portions were very small for the high prices. I ended up paying $50 for a meal that I could say was taken out of a box from the frozed food section. Please dont go here.

Reveling in its Neapolitan roots, Trattoria Il Localino relies for atmosphere on the voice of Frank Sinatra on the sound system, while walls are covered with photos and odd memorabilia. Three-course menus go for $30, and make a better deal…
