I'm not a huge fan of Starbucks to begin with, Peet's or Caribou is my preferred java stop.
However, this location was even worse than the typical Starbucks I've been to. The woman at the counter was quite brusque when I asked if they had any more sandwiches. She told me to go to McDonald's. Umm...ok. Next time I will.
Then, it took them more than five minutes to make my iced caramel macchiato and it wasn't even as if they were that busy. I definitely did not feel like a valued customer here.

Pros: Wide variety of coffee
Cons: Slow service, Rude service
Marshall Fields sparkled. Macy's lies in a puddle of its own putrid stupidity and has a severely incomprehensible sense of what Chicago is all about. Macy's is no M F. Or maybe they are.......
Lind P. New Store manager @312-781-3919. Other assorted useless persons: Jane Dennis, Ralph Hughes, and thank god the HR Marge Hardigan is no more! What a piece of work!
Sad just sad.

We only get to Chicago at Christmas time. This is a must see. The window displays show one of the favorite fairy tales with a twist. There are lights, music and all the adventure that is Chicago. It's worth the walk (or the bus/trolley ride) from Michigan Avenue.
5Marshall Fields is one of the places that means Chicago. Many, many people remember going downtown at Christmas to see the Christmas displays in Fields' windows and then to have lunch in the Walnut Room with its towering Christmas tree.
Now that Fields has been sold to the chain that operates Macys and Bloomingdales, the plan is to change the name of Marshall Fields to Macys. Horrors! Why take something so special and try to make it common?
Marshall Fields is a good place to find clothing, household goods, perfumes and Frangos - the candy sold only by Marshall Fields.
PROS: A Chicago treasure
CONS: Doomed to be turned into a Macys by Federated Department Stores

I have been fairly disappointed in this Marshall Fields "flagship" store. I shop in the petite department, and I can rarely find clothes that aren't for for women over sixty. And they always seem to be out of my size. I have better luck in the shoe department, and their cosmetics department is beginning to rival Nordstrom which is nice.

I love to go there for certain items. The gourmet store is great. It's a shame they stopped carrying English toffee. I like the frango mints. I hope when the store name changes to Macy's that there will still be Frango mints.
PROS: great
CONS: name is going to change
This store is considered a landmark and for more than just it's history. This store has so much to offer and it is designed well. Everything is easy to find - especially elevators/esculators when you need them. The famous Walnut Room and the christmas windows make shopping more than just a chore.
PROS: great atmosphere, great selection,
CONS: a little pricey

I love this place, especially at Christmastime when they have the windows done. The sales people are very helpful and pleasant. I go out of my way to shop here instead of the one closer to me.
4This is the absolute best Marshall Field's store in the country. The employees here are so nice and helpful. I could get lost looking at the decor. The selections here are fantastic. Any trip to this store should include a visit to their restaurant, whick is world class.

I was a little dissapointed with this location, because of some of the employees. Some didn't want to "waste" their time on me, and others were just too busy talking to their friends. The overall experience was a 3.
3Marshall Field's on State has a huge selection of furniture. I particularly like it because it carries every style from ultra-modern to very traditional. They carry name brands like Ralph Lauren as well as the lesser known designers. All of the furniture is of really good quality too. One can get lost in the maze of furniture and the sales associates are eager to help.

Even tho it can be pricey, there are always sales to be had. Even department have racks with 30 to 70% discounts. It may take a little patience to find the really good bargains, but its well worth it. And the food shops are great.
5The State Street Marshall Fields is the best one of them all. It is everything you would expect from the store plus it is in a very convenient location. I don't like shopping downtown very much, but this store makes it easy. Accessible by bus and train.
5This place is a great to shop and there is no place to shop in chicago like the downtown marshall fields. I would reccommend seeing this place at chirstimas time when the windows are decorated.
4Marshalls is a very huge store, it is well maintained but its expensive. Any one time purchase can be made at Marshalls as its quality is reliable. i got a winter coat from this store , its great!!!!!!!
4This Field's offers much more than all of the other stores. It has mini stores inside it. From Australian Ice Cream to Yahoo! It's a whole new shopping experience. Most of these boutiques are expensive though. You can even spend a whole day here. They have a conceirge and visitor's center.

I love this store, it is the best to see it in the winter to look and see the windows. There are stories on stories in this huge store and the walnut room is nice looking but the wait usually is about two hours.
