Lou Conte Dance Studio

First, it's not a ten minute walk! More like 3 minutes if you are getting off at the right stop. I think the location is excellent--the blue line is always running! Anways, the instructors here are absolutely world class. I have taken from so many people that I respect and look up to. By far the best studio in Chicago.

Lou Conte is the best if you have just started taking dance as an adult, or if you are picking it up again after some years. I agree that the location can be a pain (10 minute walk off the blue line stop) near UIC, good instructors, some are friendlier than others, but I get what i'm looking for- a great dance class

Lou Conte Dance Studio is a terrific dance studio that caters to all ages and levels (beginner to pre-professional). I like that you buy by class; you don't have to commit to an entire session. There's viewing windows in each class so you can observe before you take a class to see if fits your level of experience.

PROS: Great variety of classes for all ages and levels
CONS: Poor location

This studio is an extension of Hubbard Street Dance Company. Some of the instructors are past or current members of the company.

The classes go from ballet to hip hop and everything in between. Instructors are very knowledgeable and fun. My daughter and I both love it and don't mind the drive into the city to get there.
