Bread Basket

I routinely lunch at Bread Basket. Everything is freshly prepared. They have an excellent homemade soup selection. My personal favorite is red beans and rice soup. They also have fresh fruit salads, hand scooped shakes and real fruit and yogurt smoothies. They have a ridiculously delicious jalapeno olive bread.I like the fact that they serve soup all year round. They provide a fabulous get away from the hustle and bustle of my work environment. I fully expect to find a Bread Basket in heaven. lol.

This is such a fantastic little restuarnt that is very easy to overlook. The food is all so good and unique. The bread and butter that comes with the salads and soups is to die for. I dream of that bread and butter! It is usually crowded at lunch time, but that's a sign of how good the place is! It's always a treat to go to the Bread Basket!

my mother is a teacher in Gary and travels here for lunch at least once a week! all the bread is freshly baked and the sandwiches are a mile high!!, soup or salad can accompany a sandwich and either would be a good choice. there are even dessert salads like the caramel apple one and there are fresh baked goodies every day. you have to try the coconut pecan bar when you come here.

When I was younger I remember hearing all of the teachers went to The Bread Basket for lunch time. I figured it was full of old people but the atmosphere is really nice with young servers. They make their own bread which you can smell when you walk in. Usually it's quite busy around lunch time and they are closed for dinner. It's a really wonderful place to get healthy food. It is definitely a plus for vegetarians because the menu is full of salads and many options for sandwiches made with their bread. The price is cheap and overall a wonderful restaurant.
