There were not hardly any animals there and none of the attractions and shows or cafes were open. We looked the zoo up before we went, since we live three hours away, and there was no notice of anything being different or canceled. We paid full price for not even 1/4 of the 'adventure'. Will never be back. Our 3 and 4 year old children were bored and were constantly begging to leave. Horrible!!!

I highly recommend the Louisville Zoo. It takes us 1 hour, but well worth the drive. They gorilla exhibit is the best I have ever seen. Their is so much to do all day long. It is a great place for all ages. The price is fair and every thing is well kept and very clean. I highly recommend the Louisville Zoo!

I'm from California and I thought this Zoo was great. Not only was it cheap to get in, but the Zoo was big and had a lot to do. The animals looked happy and the cages were clean. The park itself was very clean and there was a lot of little things to look at. =)
I had a great time and I plan on going again very soon.

I recommend it if you live here to go, or if you're just visiting, especially for kids.

As a family we love zoos and go to one whenever we go somewhere that has one. The Louisville zoo is not very big compared to other zoos we've been to and they have hardly any area for stopping to rest for a little while. They have tried to get the animals into a more natural habitat which is good, though steps up in front would be great for younger children who can;t see as well as older taller kids. The zoo is also entirely on a hillside so if you're going with grandparents ,make sure they are up for the hike uphill. Parking is easy with plenty available and prices are comparable to other zoos. They often have specail events for kids around holidays so be sure to watch the paper for news of those.

I have been to this Zoo several times over the years with my mother and my grandkids. This is a great place for the family. It is kind of pricy but is quite comparable to other zoos etc. There is a carousel as well. There is a nice paved trail all through the zoo that allows for strollers, handicapped vehicles etc. Great place for families.

We really enjoy visiting this zoo with our children and grandchildren. They always have events going on and most of the time you can see most/all of the animals. They keep it very nice and the annual passes are very inexpensive. This is a great place to take your family and spend the day!

The Louisville Zoo is an AWESOME way to spend the day. With all of the new additions and upcoming additions, the Louisville Zoo is quickly becoming one of the best zoo's in the US. Pack a lunch and spend the day. Lots and lots to do! I recommend getting a membership that is good for 1 full year. A great money saver!

PROS: Awesome exhibits, beautiful landscaping, clean
CONS: Food is expensive

The zoo is a fun place for all ages. Everything is clean and well-cared for. Admission prices aren't outrageous for all you get to see. They have a train and a tram if you want to get around quicker or just cool off, and a great carousel for the kids to ride.

The Louisville Zoo is a great place to visit. Although, it may not be as big as some zoos in other cities it is still a nice zoo. I love the beautiful aviary where birds will eat nectar right out of your hand. Gorilla Forest was another great exhibit, but there was a line to get in on the day we went. It was worth the wait though. Admission is $10.95 for adults and $7.95 for children. I thought it was worth the money. There is a train and carousel for the kids. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. There is plenty of parking.

I liked to see the animals especially the new lion they just got. The parking is sort of awkward and I really thought the price was too high for what you got. The cages looked clean though and had unusual animals for the area. I was comparing it to Cincinnati Zoo, and was less than satisfied, but it is still great to bring the kids.

I've always enjoyed going to zoos everywhere I visit, but so many zoos seem a little depressing because it feels like all the animals are just in cages. However, when I moved to Louisville I was pleasantly surprised to find our zoo is a lot different!

They've really striven to have individual habitats for most of the animals so that they are in more natural situations. I'd really like to see that for more of the animals, but at least it's a start!

You definitely have to check out the gorillas and the lorakeets! It's a fun way to spend the day. Make sure you have plenty of time to be leisurely in your walk around the paths here. For some reason it always seems a lot hotter there than walking in another part of town, so drink plenty of fluids and bring a stroller for the kids!!

I was really impressed with how clean and well kept this zoo was. We went on a busy day and they still had everything looking great. There was a very well kept walking path and easy access to the animals even with a stroller. Nice variety of animals. They were doing more rennovation even as we visited. Can't wait to go back and see what new things have been done. They also offer special days where kids are free. Great experience!

The Louisville Zoo is a great place to take your family for learning and fun. There are so many animals to see and learn about, the grounds are well kept, and the exhibits are always impressive. The zoo also offers train, tram, and carousel rides which are fun to try. My children and I like to pack a picnic lunch and sit at one of the many picnic areas and watch the many animals around us in their various pens. It's a great place to visit.

PROS: lots to see and do
CONS: expensive if you don't have a family membership

The Louisville Zoo is truly on of the best zoos I have visited. The zoo is very clean, the staff is friendly and the exhibits are all wonderful. The Gorilla forest is top notch- I love the indoor area where you can watch the gorillas swing and play. The zoo is constantly updating and adding new exhibits. The most recent is the Lorikeet landing. This is exhibit is so fun- kids will love having the beautiful birds come right up to them and eat out of their hands! Season passes can be obtained relatively cheaply, so it is easy for families to go multiple times per year. The breakfast with Santa and Halloween events are loads of fun too!

PROS:
CONS: Lots of hills!

They have any type of animal you can think of - from A to Z. The Zoo always gives 110% to their animals and their habitats. Since the Zoo is a rather large park, make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen and plan to stay the whole day so that you can see everything! They do offer free parking. I do not think that you can bring in outside food or drink, but the do offer several snack shops throughout the park, but they are expensive.

What a great place for the whole family to enjoy. The zoo here has lots to offer, and to buy a pass for a year is so worth the money, becuase you can go everyday if you choose to. The amount of different animals they have is so much fun to look at. They have the rare white alligator, and hippos and gorillas that are very active in the evening hours. My kids enjoy visiting the zoo. We go about once a week. Its nice excersise just to walk around and see all the wildlife. I highly recommend this zoo to anyone that lives in the area or is planing on visiting.

PROS: Great place for kids and everyone.

My kids love the Louisville Zoo. There is so many places to park and the trails and benches are kept so clean. There is picnic tables and a little restraunt to eat at and my kids love the gift shop. The informational shows are so awesome and that is what sets them aside from other zoos. The zoo features 1,300 animals in naturalistic and mixed animal settings. The newest area is the 4-acre Gorilla Forest Exhibit pygmy hippos and Western Lowland gorillas. Which my kids LOVED!! The Herp-Aquarium features OVER100 species.

The Louisville Zoo Is a great family outing destination. The gorilla forest is a must see on any visit. Four acres in size, it is the home to 12 lowlands Gorillas and 2 pygmy hippos. A membership is the best value if you are a local. It allows unlimited access, and admission to the World's largest Halloween Party. The zoo is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Days.

The Louisville Zoo is a perfect family outing. Often times a public zoo located in a large city is vast and impersonal. That is not the case with the Louisville Zoo. It's the perfect size for a wonderful family outing. They have a good variety of animals along with plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal with them. The Zoo has numerous educational programs geared for people of all ages as well as year round family activities. The Zoo offers affordable yearly membership rates, which encourage you to visit the zoo as many times as you would like and with our family that's quite often! The Zoo is clean and well run and the gift shop and restaurants are reasonably priced. Parking is free and there is even a tram inside the Zoo! If you are looking for a fun outing in Louisville then be sure to check out the Zoo!

The staff is great and it is just a nice place for some family time!

We get a membership for the zoo every year thats how much we love this place. The kids love the animals, its always clean and very well set up. It is a long walk and there are a couple of hills you have to huff & puff your way up but if you can not walk it they have a tram to drive you to differant parts of the zoo they also have a train ride that you can ride at the end or the begining of the zoo trip. I stays pretty much crowded after 12 noon but if you can make it right as the gates open the crowd is not that bad.

PROS: Large varity of animals
CONS: long and at times hilly walk

Our zoo is wonderful. They take such good care of the animals and the exhibits are fantastic. This month they are featuring the albino alligator. The commercial they do for it is great. We love the way they incotporate the community with having contests to name the baby animals. The educational programs are wonderful for all ages, not just the children. The holiday events they have throughout the year are spectacular. It's a wonderful place for the whole family to enjoy. Bring your camera and enjoy the wonderful animals that God created for us to enjoy. When you need a peaceful place to go to get away from the stress, head to the Louisville Zoo for a twonderful and a memorable time.
